INFORMATION
1. SAVE THIS MANUAL - It contains important safety and operating
instructions for MONOGRAM Series Desk Charger.
2. Beforeusingthebatterycharger,readallinstructionsandcautionary
markings on (1) the battery charger, (2) the battery, and (3) the
product using the battery.
3. CAUTION-Toreducetheriskofinjury,chargeonlyEricsson battery
packs. Charging any other battery pack or batteries may cause the
battery to burst and cause personal injury or damage.
4. Do not expose charger to rain or snow.
5. Do not use auxiliary equipment not recommended or sold by the
manufacturer. To do so may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or
injury to persons.
6 To reduce risk of damage to wall transformer and cord, pull by the
wall transformer rather than the cord when disconnecting the
charger.
7. Makesurethecordislocatedsothatitwillnotbesteppedon,tripped
over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress.
8. An extension cord shouldnot be used unless absolutely necessary.
Use of an improper extension cord could result in a risk of fire and
electric shock. If an extension cord must be used, make sure of the
following:

a. That pins on the plug of the extension cord are the same
number, size, and shape as those on the charger’s plug;
b. Thatthe extension cord is properly wiredand ingood condition;
and
c. That the wire size is large enough for the AC ampere rating of
the charger as specified in Table 1.

9. Do not operate charger with damaged cord or plug - replace them
immediately.
10. Donotoperatechargerifithasreceivedasharpblow,beendropped,
or otherwise damaged in any way; return it to a qualified service
shop.

11. Do notdisassemble the charger; return it to a qualified service shop
when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result
in a risk of electrical shock or fire.
12. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug the charger from the outlet
before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
13. GROUNDINGANDACPOWERCONNECTION-Toreducetherisk
of electrical shock use only a properly grounded outlet.Be surethat
the outlet is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all
local codes and ordinances.
14. DANGER - Never alter the cord or wall transformer. If it will not fit in
the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
Improper connection can result in risk of an electric shock.
15. Care should be taken when placing the charger in service to insure
proper ventilation. A minimum of 1/4" is required surrounding the
wall transformer.
Due to the temperature characteristics of nickel-cadmium batteries,
the batteries will not accept a full charge at temperature extremes.
For maximum capacity, recharge the battery pack at a room
temperature of 65° to 85° Fahrenheit, whenever possible.

DESCRIPTION
The Desk Charger is designed to charge Ericsson Monogram Series LTR®
Portable radio battery packs.
LTR is a tradename of E.F. Johnson

The slot is used for slow charging of a portable radio with battery or
independent charging of a battery. This slot charges the battery in 14 to 20
hours.
INSTALLATION
Locate the DeskCharger ona deskor other flatsurfacenear a120/230 VAC
50/60 Hz source. Connect the power cable to a convenient 120/230 VAC
outlet.
Recharging any battery pack or batteries other than the ones your
equipment was designed to charge may result in damage to
equipment, leakage, or explosion.
CAUTION
Only an authorized or certified electronic technician should attempt
to disassemble or service the charger.

INDICATORS
1. Slot: For charging of Monogram Series radio with battery or inde-
pendent charging of batteries. Polarity of battery in charger must be
correct, or no charging will occur.
2. LED: illuminates when radio or battery is inserted.

CHARGER OPERATION
InsertbatteryorradiowithbatteryintoChargeSlot,observingcorrectpolarity.
The LED will be illuminated, and a charging current of approximately 50mA
is provided to the battery. In the charge mode, the battery will take approxi-
mately 14 to 20 hours to fully charge.

MONOGRAM SERIES WARRANTY
A. Ericsson Inc. (hereinafter "Seller") warrants to the original purchaser for use (hereinafter"Buyer") that
Equipment manufactured bySellershall be free fromdefects inmaterial, workmanship and title, and shall
conformtoitspublishedspecifications.WithrespecttoanyEquipmentnotmanufacturedbySeller(except
for integral parts of Seller’s Equipment to which the warranties set forth above shall apply). Seller gives
no warranty, and only the warranty, if any, given by the manufacturer shall apply. Batteries are excluded
from this warranty but are warranted under a separate Nickel-Cadmium Battery Warranty.
B. Seller’sobligationssetforthinParagraphCbelowshallapplyonlytofailurestomeettheabovewarranties
(except as to title) occurring within the following periods of time from date of sale to the Buyer and are
conditioned on Buyer’s giving written notice to Seller within thirty (30) days of such occurrence:
1. for fuses, incandescent lamps, vacuum tubes and non-rechargeable batteries, operable on arrival
only.
2. for parts and accessories (except as noted in B.1) sold by Seller’s Service Parts Operation, ninety
(90) days.
3. for all other Equipment of Seller’s manufacture, one (1) year.
C. If any Equipment fails to meet the foregoing warranties, Seller shall correct the failure at its option (i) by
repairing any defective or damaged part or parts thereof, or (ii) bymaking availableatSeller’s factoryany
necessary repairedor replacement parts. Any repaired or replacement part furnished thereunder shall be
warranted for the remainder of the warranty period of the Equipment in which it is installed. Where such
failurecannotbecorrectedbySeller’sreasonableefforts,thepartieswillnegotiateanequitableadjustment
in price. Labor to perform warranty service will be provided at no change only for the Equipment covered
under Paragraph B.3, and only during the first three (3) months following the date of sale to the Buyer.
Thereafter, labor will be charged at prevailing rates. To be eligible for no-charge labor, service must be
performed by an Authorized Service Center or other Services approved for these purposes either at its
place of business during normal business hours, for mobile or personal equipment, or at the Buyer’s
location,forfixedlocationequipment.Serviceon fixedlocationequipmentmorethan thirty(30)milesfrom
the Service Center or other approved Service’s place of business will include a chargefor transportation.
Equipment located off-shore is not eligible for no-charge labor.
D. Seller’s obligations under Paragraph C shall not apply to any Equipment, or part thereof, which (i) has
been modified or otherwise altered other than pursuant to Seller’s written instructions or written approval
or, (ii) is normally consumed in operation or, (iii) has a normal life inherently shorter than the warranty
periods specified in Paragraph B, or (iv) is not properly stored, installed, used, maintained or repaired, or,
(v) has been subjected to any other kind of misuse or detrimental exposure, or has been involved in an
accident.
E. The preceding paragraphs set forth the exclusive remedies for claims (except as to title) based upon
defects in or nonconformity of the Equipment, whether the claim is in contract, warranty, tort (including
negligence),strictliabilityorotherwise,andhoweverinstituted.Upontheexpirationofthewarrantyperiod,
all such liability shall terminate. The foregoing warranties are exclusive and inlieu of all other warranties,
whether oral, written, expressed,implied or statutory. NO IMPLIEDOR STATUTORY WARRANTIESOF
MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE SHALL APPLY. IN NO EVENT
SHALL THE SELLER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT
OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES.This warranty applies only within the United States.
