SPEAKER CONNECTIONS
To attach speakers to the main unit, align the grooves of main unit with the grooves on the side
of the speaker box and slide the speaker box downwards. Push the speaker latch in the
direction indicated to lock the speaker in place and then insert the plug of the speaker wire into
the Speaker Jack (L&R).
WARNING: The speaker must be firmly plugged into the Speaker Jack before switching on the
power of main unit.
POWER SUPPLY
This unit is designed to operate from two different types of power sources;
• DC OPERATION
This setting operates on 8 - "D" type batteries. For best performance, always use heavy
duty alkaline batteries.
TO INSTALL BATTERIES
1. Remove the cover on the Battery Compartment by gently pushing downward and
outward. Insert 8 - "D" type batteries.
BE SURE TO PLACE THE BATTERIES IN THE SAME POLARITY (+ or-)
DIRECTION INDICATED ON THE ENGRAVED DIAGRAM INSIDE THE
COMPARTMENT.
2. Replace the cover.
NOTE: Old batteries may swell and leak. To avoid damage to your device, remove the
batteries when the unit is being stored for a long period of time or if the batteries have
become exhausted.
NOTE: To use DC power (battery) setting, you MUST first remove the AC cord from both
the wall outlet and the back of the set.
• AC OPERATION
Plug the AC power cord into the AC cord socket on the device first, and then plug the other
end of the cord into a standard household power outlet as shown.
TO PLAY THE RADIO
1. Set the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position and the POWER Indicator will light up.
2. Select the desired band with the BAND switch.
3. Tune to the desired station by rotating the TUNING control. Rotate the control back and
forth until you find the strongest and clearest reception for a given station.
4. The built-in AM antenna and external FM TELESCOPIC ANTENNA are directional.
• When you are receiving an FM broadcast, fully extend the TELESCOPIC ANTENNA
and rotate it for the best reception.
• For AM broadcast, rotate the whole unit for the best reception.
5. Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level.
6. To turn off the radio, set the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE or CD/MP3 position.

NOTES:
• If a particular FM (STEREO) station is weak, or you hear too much background noise, try
moving the band selector switch to the FM (MONO) position. This can often result in a
much clearer reception.
• The FM Stereo indicator light will glow when the band selector switch is set to FM STEREO
and a stereo broadcast is received from a station.
LOADING A DISC
1. Open the CD door by pressing on the CD Door “open” area.
2. Load a CD on the disc tray with the label side facing up.
3. Close the CD door.
PLAYING A DISC
1. Slide the Function switch to the CD/MP3 position.
2. Follow the steps above to load a disc.
3. The player begins reading the disc immediately after the CD door is closed and "---" will
show in the LCD display.
4. When the disc is successfully read, total number of the tracks on disc is indicated in the
display and playback begins with the first track.
5. Press the Play/Pause button once to stop music playback. The current track number will
flash and a "PAUSE" icon appears on the left side of the display to indicate the player in
PAUSE mode. Press the Stop button a second time to cease music playback. The display
will show the total number of the tracks on disc again.
ANTI-SHOCK PROTECTION
A special circuitry inside the player prevents disc skipping when the player is subject to shock
and shaking during music playback. The laser scans the CD/MP3 disc and saves data for up
to 1/10th of a second ahead of where the playback actually is on the disc. In case of shaking
or shocking vibrations, the player reads from the saved memory until the laser can read the
CD again.
Too much vibration or shaking may cause the player to malfunction and cause skipping to be
heard. If this happens, place the player on a solid, level vibration resistant surface.
SKIP TRACKS AND SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC POINT TO PLAY
1. Press the SKIP/SEARCH UP button once when playing music to skip to the next track. To
skip ahead to a specific track, press this button several times.
2. Press the SKIP/SEARCH DOWN button when playing music to skip to the previous track.
To skip backwards to a specific track, press this button several times.
3. Press 10+ button once when playing music to skip to the track 10 tracks ahead, press
twice to skip 20 tracks ahead. You can reach the last track of the disc using this button.
4. Press & Hold the SKIP/SEARCH UP button when playing music to search forward at
quick rate for a specific point in the music.

5. Press & Hold the SKIP/SEARCH DOWN button when playing music play to search in
reverse at quick rate for a specific point in the music.
MP3-CD PLAYBACK
This player is capable of playing recorded MP3-CDs. PLEASE NOTE: It will take a longer
time for the player to read an MP3-CD than it does regular CD. Wait patiently while the unit is
reading the disc.
After a MP3-CD is successfully read, the total number of tracks will show in the LCD display
and then automatically playback will begin from the first track of the disc while showing a
“MP3” icon in the display.
SKIP TRACKS AND SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC POINT TO PLAY (MP3/USB)
1. Press the SKIP/SEARCH UP button once when playing music to skip to the next track. To
skip ahead to a specific track, press this button several times.
2. Press the SKIP/SEARCH DOWN button when playing music to skip to the previous track.
To skip backwards to a specific track, press this button several times.
3. Press 10+ button once when playing music to skip to the track 10 tracks ahead, press
twice to skip 20 tracks ahead. You can reach the last track of the disc using this button.
4. Press & Hold the SKIP/SEARCH UP button when playing music to search at quick rate for
a specific point in the music.
5. Press & Hold the SKIP/SEARCH DOWN button when playing music play to search at
quick rate for a specific point in the music.
USB DRIVE OPERATION
To use a USB data drive:
1. Power on the unit.
2. Insert a USB data drive into the USB port.
3. Set the function switch to the CD/MP3 position.
The display will indicate “reading” and after the USB is successfully detected and read, the
track number total will show in the display.
NOTE: When the unit is in the Stop mode, press and hold the STOP/USB button on the unit or
press USB/CD button on the remote to switch the source between USB and CD modes.
REPEAT A SINGLE TRACK (CD/MP3/USB)
To repeat a single track, during playback, press the MODE button once and "REPT. 1" shows
in the LCD display. Select the number of the preferred track using the SKIP/SERCH buttons
or the 10+ button. The player will now repeat the selected track until you press the STOP
button.
REPEAT ALL TRACKS (CD/MP3/USB)
To repeat all tracks, during playback, press the MODE button twice and "REPT. ALL" shows in
the LCD display. The player will now repeat all the tracks until you press the STOP button.

RANDOM PLAY (CD/MP3/USB)
For Random or “shuffle” play, during playback, press the MODE button three times and
"RAN." shows in the LCD display. Tracks on the disc will now be played in random order and
the player will stop automatically after all tracks are played.
INTRODUCTION PLAY (CD/MP3/USB)
Introduction play will play the first ten seconds of each track in a sequential order. During
playback, press the MODE button four times to enter this mode and "INT." shows in the LCD
display. Press the SKIP/SEARCH UP button to play the beginning of the next track. Press the
SKIP/SEARCH DOWN button to play the beginning of the previous track. Press the
PLAY/PAUSE button once more to exit Introduction play and return to normal playback on the
currently playing track.
PROGRAMMED PLAY (CD/MP3/USB)
Use the PROGRAM button to program the order of play or the track selections you want to
hear.
1. In the MP3/USB mode when playback is stopped, press the PROGRAM button once and
"PROG." will appear in the LCD display with the program sequence indicator "P-01" and a
flashing track number indicator.
2. Select the first track number to be programmed using SKIP/SEARCH or 10+ buttons and
press the PROGRAM button again to confirm your selection and advance to the next
programming step. The program sequence indicator will change to "P-02" for the next
input.
3. Repeat the steps above to program additional tracks. A maximum of 99 tracks can be
programmed for a MP3 disc &USB drive. A maximum of 20 tracks can be programmed for
a CD.
4. Press PLAY/PAUSE button to begin programmed play in the selected order after you have
completed program selection. The player stops automatically after all programmed tracks
are played.
5. Press the STOP button to stop programmed playback. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to
begin programmed playback with the identical programmed order or press the STOP
button a second time to clear the programmed memory.
CASSETTE OPERATION
PAUSE BUTTON
Press the PAUSE button to pause cassette playback.
STOP/EJECT BUTTON
Press the STOP/EJECT button to stop cassette playback and once more to open the cassette
door to eject the cassette.
F.FWD BUTTON
Press the F.FWD button to advance rapidly during playback or in the stop mode.
REW BUTTON
Press the REW button to reverse rapidly during playback or in the stop mode.

PLAY BUTTON
Press the PLAY button to begin playback.
RECORD BUTTON
Press the RECORD button to record audio to a blank cassette tape.
CASSETTE RECORDING OPERATION
RECORD FROM CD/MP3/USB
1. Play a CD/MP3/USB according to the steps described in this manual.
2. Insert a blank cassette tape into the unit with the full tape reel on the left-hand side.
3. When the CD/MP3/USB drive music arrives at the point you want to begin recording,
press both the RECORD and PLAY buttons at the same time to begin recording.
4. Press the STOP/EJECT button to stop recording when the CD/MP3/USB arrives at the
point you want to end recording.
5. When the tape reaches the end, the recording will automatically stop.
RECORD FROM RADIO
1. Play the radio according to the steps described in this manual.
2. Insert a blank cassette tape into the unit with the full tape reel on the left-hand side.
3. When the broadcast arrives at the point you would like to begin your recording, press both
the RECORD and PLAY buttons at the same time to begin recording.
4. Press STOP/EJECT button to stop recording.
5. When the tape reaches the end, the recording will automatically stop.
TO RECORD USING THE BUILT-IN MICROPHONE
1. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE position.
2. Insert a blank cassette tape into the unit with the full tape reel on the left-hand side.
3. Press the cassette RECORD button and speak into the built-in microphone on the top left
of the unit.
4. Press the STOP/EJECT button to end the recording process.
5. Rewind the tape and press the PLAY button to listen to your recording.
REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION
INSERT BATTERIES
1. Remove the cover on the Battery Compartment by gently pushing downward and outward.
2. Install 2 “AAA” batteries into the compartment. Be sure to observe the polarities as
engraved in or near the battery compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment lid.
NOTE: Always remove batteries if the remote controller is not going to be used for a month or
more. Batteries left in the unit may leak and cause damage to the remote.
REMOTE CONTROL RANGE
For best results, use the remote control no further than 15’ feet from the unit and within a 45°
angle in relation to the remote sensor on front panel. The remote may not function properly if
any objects are in the path of the infrared beam from the remote and the remote sensor on the
front panel of the unit.

LIMITED 90-DAY WARRANTY
We warrant this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for a ninety-day
period from the original date of purchase from an authorized ETEC dealer.
Should you be missing any of the included accessories or other components (screws, pieces, etc.), please contact
the Customer Support Center to secure a replacement. It is not necessary to bring the unit back to the store. When
calling, please reference the parts list found in the Instruction Manual to help us accurately identify the missing
parts and promptly provide replacements.
We will replace the unit free of charge should it become defective under this warranty, providing you, the original
purchaser, have your original dated sales receipt.
To obtain warranty service or replacement within the ninety-day warranty period, please return the product with all
parts and accessories along with your original dated store receipt to the original place of purchase and the unit will
be exchanged at no charge. It is not necessary to contact the manufacturer for warranty replacement.

This warranty applies only under conditions of normal use. Our products are not intended for outdoor use.
There are no consumer serviceable parts contained in this product and any attempt by the owner to service or
repair the unit will immediately void all warranty coverage.
This warranty does not cover any product which has been subject to damage due to an act of nature, misuse,
neglect, accident, abuse, commercial use, or modification of, or to, any part of the product, including the antenna.
Damage to any external media such as DVD & CD discs, and/or USB or other memory devices are not covered
nor is the cost incurred in shipping the unit for warranty repair or exchange. Under no circumstances shall ETEC
be liable for any loss (direct, indirect, incidental, foreseen, unforeseen, special or consequential) or for any
damage arising out of, or in connection with, the use of this product.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ETEC BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
This warranty does not cover re-manufactured, refurbished, or repaired units, or any products sold 'As Is'.
This warranty is valid only to the original purchaser of the Product in the United States and Canada and grants
specific legal rights.
