Eumig P8 Zoom
Your EUMIG P 8 ZOOM can only be operated on alternating current.
Before connecting it up to the plug, please check whether the voltage
available corresponds with the voltage adapted to the Projector. The
setting of the projector is visible at the back when closed (see Fig. 2,
item A). To alter the setting, open the Projector and pull out the plug
marked “volt”(Fig. 3), replacing it so that when the Projector is closed
the correct voltage can be read off the outside.
The safety-fuse C (Fig. 3) is designed to protect the machine should the
wrong voltage be selected. To exchange this fuse, the plastic cap should
be removed in an upward direction. A revserve fuse is enclosed with the
projector.
Inserting Lamp and Erecting Spool Arms
The projector lamp is of low-voltage type operating at 12 volts with two-
pin bayonet cap. Should it become necessary to change the lamp, this
can be done by a slight twist. The new Tamp is inserted by a slight
downward pressure and a clockwise twist. Fig. 4 shows the Projector
closed with spool arms folded away. When the locking screw Ais
unscrewed one side of the Projector hinges open. Figure 3 shows how
the spool arms are swung into position. Note that the front or feed spool
arm must be lifted slightly before it can be swung upwards. The side of
the projector is then closed again and secured by tightening screw B
(Fig. 3).
Attention! If after projection te spool arms are to be closed again, care must be
taken that the small spring tongues on the spool axles are turned down, so that the
Projector may be closed without any use of force.

Connecting the Mains Supply
According to regulations in the different countries, every electrical
apparatus must be earthed. For this purpose the EUMIG P 8 ZOOM is
fitted with a socket. (Fig. 2, Socket C.)
Before connecting up the Projector, make sure that the motor switch is
in the "off" position as in Fig. 1 (i.e. turned away from the red dot). Now
switch on the Projector, at the same time inserting the female plug on
the mains lead supplied with the Projector into the socket B(Fig. 2).
Without opening the Projector, you can centre the projection lamp
exactly and set it so as to achieve maximum utilization of light. With the
lever (Fig. 1) the lamp can be tilted forwards and backwards. Lateral
and vertical adjustment are achieved by manipulating the knurled screw
(1). By the purity of colour and brilliance it may be perceived when the
most favourable position has been found. Light yellow streaks do not
cause any loss of brilliance or change of colour in projection, as can be
seen. The sockets marked D(Fig. 2) are for connection to a table or
standard lamp, which is automatically extinguished when the Projector
is switched on, and lights up again when it is switched off. Both screws
at the front of the Projector are for tilting adjustment (see Fig. 1).
Threading
Place the loaded spool of film on the feed arm, turning down the spring
tongues in the respective direction. It is important to make sure that the
film perforations are on the outside (that is on the right hand side when
facing the screen) and that the emulsion side (dull side) of the film is
turned towards the projection-screen. Turn the lever Hdownwards in
the direction of the arrow, to remove the gate, as in Fig. 5, insert the
film, then close the gate again. Now form a loop in the film above the
gate and lead the film over the feed sprocket A(Fig. 6). The film will slip
into position if gently pulled in the direction of the arrow.

Fig. 5
Lead the film over the take-up sprocket Bin the some way, as shown in
Fig. 7, pulling it backward until it slips into position. Finally draw it along
the film guide rolls Con to the take-up spool and fasten it to the core.
Projecting
Your P 8 ZOOM is now ready for projection. Thanks to the EUPROZOOM
projection-lens, focussing the picture now presents no difficulties. Switch
on the Projector by turning the motor switch D(Fig. 8). Then turn the
lens in its mount and pull the tube some way out. This alters the size of
the image, and the Projector can therefore be adapted to fit any room
and any screen. By turning the lens to the right or the left, the correct
focussing may be obtained. The running-speed may be adjusted by
manipulating the sliding-control E(Fig. 8) until all flicker disappears. If
two partial images are seen on the screen, this can be corrected by
turning the knob F(Fig. 8).

Fig. 9 shows the size of picture obtainable at any given distance by the
15-25 mm adjustable EUPRO-ZOOM lens.
Rewinding
Open the gate and apply gentle pressure on the narrow sides of the
feed and take-up sprockets. The film can then be easily removed and
led direct from the take-up spool back to the feed spool as is shown in
Fig. 10. Rewinding is easily and rapidly effected by turning the handle K
in the direction of the arrow.

Maintenance
The Projector, and particularly the ports which come into contact with
the film must be kept scrupulously clean. To facilitate cleaning of the
film gate, the lens mount can be pulled well clear to the right by
swinging round the lever G(Fig. 8). The gate and the interchangeable
lens should be cleaned from time to time with a soft cloth or brush. the
film gate must also be cleaned of any dust or particles of film wich may
have remained there, by means of a small piece of wood. On no
account, however, should one use for this purpose any kind of metal,
which might scratch the film gate, thus causing damage to the film. The
Projector should be oiled regularly after projection of about 3000 feet of
film. We recommend the use of an oil free of any acid or residues, of
medium thickness, 6-8 E/50°C (such as e.g. Shell Tellus 41, Mobil DTE
extra heavy, Hyspin 140). The arrows in Fig. 11 show the spots to be
lubricated. On the Projector itself they are marked by red points.
