12. Bring the loose end of the string
back to the other side of the harp.
13. Run it through the eyelet of the
next available tuning post.
14. Bend the end with the pliers as
in step #3.
Please use caution while handling
and tuning your strings as string
ends are sharp. Also, increated ten-
sion can break strings and cause
injury, especially to your eyes.
15. Maintain tension and turn
the turning post clockwise with
the tuning key. As in step #8, you
should have a minimum of three
turns by the time the string is being
stretched. Apply just enough tension
so the string stays in place without
your help.
16. Refer to the included tuning
cards to add adequate tension for
accurate tuning.
CHANGING STRINGS
Strings should be replaced when they become dirty, discolored, or
produce a dull sound. Strings should always be changed by an
adult. You can change your strings in these easy steps:
1. Remove the old strings.
2. Take a new string out of the plastic
pouch included with this guide.
Thread the end of the new string
through the hole found on the tuning
post.
3. Measuring 1/8” from the end of the
string, bend it at a right angle with a
pair of pliers.
4. Pull the string so that the bent sec-
tion at the end is resting flat against
the tuning post.
5. Make sure the bent end is pointing
towards the ground.
6. Pull the tuning key, located at the
back of the harp, out of it’s receptacle.
7. Use your left hand and pull lightly
on the string to create tension. At the
same time, use your right hand to
turn the tuning post with the tuning
key in a clockwise motion.
8. The first turn can be above the bent
end. Three turns should go over the
bent end. This will prevent the string
from slipping out of the eyelet.
9. Note the string’s path in the il-
lustration.
10. While maintaining tension, run
the string against the corresponding
anchor post locateed at the other side
of the harp without making a loop.
11. Make one loop around the next
anchor post while still maintaining
tension.
