DIGITAL PORTS (FXi models only)
In order to give further versatility and to answer to most recent hi-tech oriented customers needs, we
provided some models of our EVE mixing console of several digital audio ports. USB I/O is useful for
generic multi-purpose connections to computer, MP3 players and so on. Specific digital professional
audio ports include Optical and Coaxial connections. Switchable Optical and Coaxial input can be used
for direct connection to audio boards, DAT recorders, CD players, etc. COAXIAL digital output can be
used for direct connection to audio boards, CD recorders, and so on.
INSTALLATION
Be sure that there is enough space around the unit to comfortably work and even for cooling purposes,
to avoid over-heating. Don’t place your mixing console on high-temperature devices such as radiators
or power amps.
EVE console is connected to the mains via the supplied adapter cable. Please use only the adapter
provided with the console, this adapter complies with all the applicable safety standards. First connect
the adapter cable to the console, then connect the cable plug to the mains, finally turn on the console.
Please note that all units must be properly grounded. For your own safety, you should never remove
any ground connector/device from electrical devices or power cables, or make them inactive. Please
ensure that only qualified people install and operate the mixing console.
OPERATIONS
All EVE console levels should be at minimum; so checks that all knobs and fader (if any) are at -∝. If a
level is raised please move it to -∝ position, preventing in this way any noise which could damage your
speakers and headphones connected. Set EQ, PAN and BAL knobs at center-detent position.
With you amplifiers/active speakers turned off, start making connections. Using XLR cables connect your
microphones, activating PHANTOM power switch for all microphones requiring such power. Connect
line level sources using balanced or unbalanced 1/4” TRS or TS cables. Connect the analogue I/O of
your tape recorder/CD player to CD/TAPE RCA connectors. In FXi models, connect rear panel digital
connectors to the desired I/O digital audio device(s). Connect your headphones to PHONES 1/4” stereo
jack, FX SEND to external FX unit, MAIN OUT to your FoH sound system/studio monitors/audio board,
and (if present in your console) CTRL ROOM OUT to your studio monitors.
Now you can turn on your EVE console and raise MAIN MIX knob/fader to “0”. Immediately after you
can turn on your sound system, and begin to set all the levels. In order to achieve best signal-to-noise
ratio for all inputs, we suggest following procedure. Mono channel: set the LEVEL knob at “0” then raise
the TRIM knob until when louder signals drive Master section output LED around “0”, double checking
even if CLIP LED is lit. Stereo channel: set the LEVEL knob at “0”, then press the +4/-10 sensitivity switch

Owner’s manual | EVE SERIES professional mixer Owner’s manual | EVE SERIES professional mixer
6
(not in EVE5), while checking with louder signals Master section output LED ladder. If the signal is too
hot, please depress the sensitivity switch, setting it to +4 position. CD/TAPE connections have no level
control, so you’ve to adjust the level from source output level knob/fader.
In FXi models digital audio device(s) connections have no level control, so you’ve to adjust the source
output level via hardware/software controls.
TIPS
We strongly suggest you to avoid exposition to loud music for prolonged periods, you risk to seriously
damage your hearing.
In order to achieve best signal-to-noise ratio in mono channels, please keep the LEVEL knobs around
“0” area, then use the TRIM knob to adjust preamp gain, while checking the CLIP LED. If you need
to hardly raise the LEVEL knob it means that you probably did a low setting of TRIM knob. In order to
avoid too much amplification, which could even boost sound noise floor, please raise the TRIM knob
while double checking the CLIP LED. On the other side, when you need to hardly reduce the LEVEL
knob, it means you did a high setting of TRIM knob. In order to avoid overload, reduce the TRIM knob
while double checking the CLIP LED.
In order to achieve best signal-to-noise ratio in stereo channels, please press the sensitivity switch
according to output level of your source (+4/-10). If you need to hardly raise the LEVEL knob it means
that you probably did a low setting of input sensitivity switch. In order to avoid too much amplification,
which could even boost sound noise floor, please change the input sensitivity switch while double
checking the sonic source. On the other side, when you need to hardly reduce the LEVEL, it means you
did a high setting of input sensitivity switch. In order to avoid overload, change the input sensitivity
switch while double checking the sonic source.
Be careful using extremely EQ settings, which could overload that channel as well its FX send and even
the Master section. We suggest you to use the EQ to emphasize sound nuances and details, even
cutting EQ on other channels!
In order to avoid internal FX overload, please carefully check the DSP level LEDs. CLIP LED should just
flash on more dynamic music parts. If the CLIP LED is continuously lit, please decrease the setting of
FX send knobs.
In order to prevent switch-on thump, please mute your sound system before pressing the PHANTOM
switch to activate the phantom power supply.

1.1 MONO CHANNEL
Microphone and line inputs
1. CONTROL ELEMENTS AND CONNECTORS
MIC
Each mono input channel features a XLR balanced microphone input connector. The XLR connector
also carries +48V phantom power supply when the PHANTOM switch is pressed. The EVE preamps
provide undistorted and noise-free gain, typical of very expensive outboard preamps.
In order to prevent switch-on “thump” or “pop”, please mute your sound system before activating
the phantom power supply. Please also read the instructions in chapters 1.3.23 and 1.5.27
LINE IN – BAL OR UNBAL
Each mono input also features a balanced TRS 6,35mm. (1/4”) line input. Also unbalanced devices
(TS cables) can be connected to these inputs.
Please note that you can only use either the microphone or the line input of a channel at
one time. You should never use both input connectors simultaneously!
TRIM – dB/dBu
Use the TRIM control to adjust the input gain. This control should always be turned fully counter-
clockwise whenever activating the PHANTOM switch and connecting or disconnecting a signal
source to the input.
EQUALIZER
All mono input channels include a 3-band equalizer, except for model EVE5; all bands provide boost
or cut of up to 15 dB. In knob central position, the equalizer is inactive. All the models have 12kHz
HIGH “shelving” and 80Hz LOW “shelving” controls. Shelving means that the circuitry boosts or
cuts all the frequencies past the tuning frequency.
HIGH frequency control affects most instruments higher harmonics and transients. LOW frequency
control affects kick drum, bass guitar and lower octaves of piano and synths.
All models but EVE5 have 2.5kHz MID “peaking” control. Peaking means that the circuitry boosts
or cuts shaping an hill around that frequency. MID eq affects the higher frequencies of most
musical instruments and some singers voice. To obtain a good vocal result try even to cut the mid
on the other channel(s).
The 75Hz 18dB/oct. low cut filter is useful to reduce microphone pick-up of undesired lower
frequencies. In particular this filter can reduce stage noise and singer mic handling noises.

FX, PAN, CLIP LED, LEVEL (All models but EVE5 have FX send)
1.1 MONO CHANNEL
FX
FX send enables you to feed signals, through each channel knob, to FX bus. As the name suggests,
EVE consoles FX send is intended to drive the internal effects device (reverb, delay, multi-effects
etc.). FX send is configured post-fader, i.e. the amount of each channel send is determined by
each channel FX send as well as from the knob LEVEL setting. Each channel FX send is mono and
features up to +15 dB gain.
The bus signal is present also at FX SEND output of the console, thus being available for an external
effects device too. The return from external effects unit is then brought back into a stereo channel
of the console.
PAN
The PAN control determines the position of the channel signal within the stereo field. This control
features a constant-power characteristic, which means the signal is always maintained at a constant
level, independently of the stereo panorama position.
CLIP LED
Each mono channel CLIP LED is lit when the input signal is driven too high, which could cause
distortion. If this happens, use the TRIM control to reduce the preamp level until the CLIP LED turns off.
LEVEL
The LEVEL control determines the level of the channel signal in the main mix.

features up to +15 dB gain. The bus signal is present also at FX SEND output
of the console, thus being available for an external effects device too. The return from external
effects unit is then brought back into a stereo channel of the console.
+4/-10
This switch allows you to choose the stereo input sensitivity. +4dBu perfectly suits for all professional
devices level, while –10dBV is for semi-professional, home-recording and most keyboard output level.
–10dBV input level obviously is more sensitive (requires less level to drive the signal) than +4 dBu.
BAL
The BAL control determines level balance of left and right input signals relative to each other before
both signal are routed to the main stereo mix bus. If a stereo channel operates in mono, just one
cable connected to L MONO 6,35mm. (1/4”) jack, the control has the same function as the PAN
control used in the mono channels.
CLIP LED
Each stereo channel CLIP LED is lit when the input signal is driven too high, which could cause distortion.
If this happens, use the TRIM control to reduce the preamp level until the CLIP LED turns off.
LEVEL
The LEVEL control determines the level of the channel signal in the main mix.

1.2 STEREO CHANNEL
Line inputs
LINE IN – BAL OR UNBAL
Each stereo channel has two balanced TRS 6,35mm. (1/4”) line level input connectors for left and
right channels. Connecting a mono source, you must connect it to the connector marked “L”(left),
please read BAL to learn more. Stereo channels are designed to handle typical line level signals.
Both inputs will also accept unbalanced devices (TS cables).

CD/TAPE inputs
CD/TAPE IN
The RCA-type CD/TAPE inputs are used to add an external signal source (e.g. CD player, MP3 player,
audio board, etc.) into the console.
These inputs can also be used as a –10dBV stereo line input for tape machines, MIDI instruments or
other signal sources, like the output of a second EVE console, that do not require any processing.
Please note that there’s no level control, so you should adjust the level from the output of the source.
CD/TAPE OUT
These connectors are wired in parallel with the MAIN OUT and carry the main mix signal (unbalanced).
Connect the CD/TAPE OUT connectors to the inputs of your recording device. The output level is
controlled via the high-precision MAIN MIX fader or knob.
CD/TAPE TO MIX or TAPE TO MIX
When the this switch is depressed, the input signal is assigned to the main mix providing an
additional stereo input.
CD/TAPE TO PHONES or TAPE TO CTRL
Press this switch to listen the additional 2-track input via the PHONES OUT and/or CTRL ROOM OUT.
This provides an easy way to monitor signals coming from the source connected to CD/TAPE INPUT.

FX SEND + PHONES OUT
The FX SEND 6,35mm. (1/4”) TS unbalanced output connector (not present in EVE5) can be
connected to the input of an external effects unit. The post-fader FX mix you created using each
input channel FX knob is sent to the external effects unit via the FX SEND output.
24bit DSP
Your mixing console has an internal professional DSP effect processor featuring 24-bit A/D D/A
converters. Thispowerful DSPprovidesyou 99studio qualitypre-sets,including 40REVERBs, 20DELAYs,
14 MODulations, 6 PITCH effects as well as 20 MULTI-effects. The display shows the effect program
number and contains a SIGNAL and CLIP LED. The SIGNAL LED should always be on, thus showing
the presence of a signal. While the CLIP LED should flash only on music peaks; if it’s continuously lit
it means you are over-driving the effects processor, leading it to unpleasant distortion. In this case
please decrease channels FX send.
PROGRAM PUSH
The PROGRAM encoder with push functions can be used for two different operations. By turning
the PROGRAM encoder, you can scroll among effect numbers. When the number of the desired
pre-set blinks in the display you have to press the PROGRAM encoder; the display stops to blink
and your desired effect is on.
FX TO MAIN
The FX TO MAIN knob feeds the main mix with the quantity of effect set with each channel knob.
PHANTOM
Engage this switch to provide Phantom power to all the MIC XLR connectors. Phantom power is
required to operate condenser microphones, and even some dynamic microphones, but it’s dangerous
for ribbon microphones, please double check your microphone manual to learn if your microphone
needs the Phantom power. Over the LED level ladder there’s +48LED, when it’s lit the PHANTOM
switch is on.
When Phantom power is ON, NEVER USE unbalanced XLR connectors or adaptors (PIN 1 connected to PIN 2
or PIN 3) connected to MIC input connectors; you should seriously damage the microphone as well as the mixer
phantom circuitry.
To avoid the possibility of “pop” noise, turn all the output levels down before operating this switch.
Please do not connect microphones to the mixer (or the stage-box/wall-box) as long as the phantom power
supply in switched on. Connect the cables of the microphones before you switch on the power supply. Your
sound system should be turned off or muted when you activate the phantom power supply. After switching on,
wait about one minute to allow console circuitry stabilization.

1.5 MAIN MIX
PHONES jack
The 6,35mm. (1/4”) stereo PHONES jack is provided for your monitoring headphones connection.
PHONES level
After the MAIN MIX control, the main mix signal is sent to CTRL ROOM/PHONES control to adjust
the level of headphones, as well as CTRL ROOM OUT. The PHONES/CTRL MUTE switch allows you
to instantaneously mute (OFF position) the listening session, thus listening to FoH sound only.
EVE5 is provided with PHONES level knob only, which is located just under the LED ladder and
above MAIN MIX knob.
24
25
MAIN OUT
The MAIN OUT connectors are unbalanced 6,35mm. (1/4”) TS jacks, the standard output level is
0 dBu. The MAIN MIX control adjusts the volume of these outputs.
CTRL ROOM OUT (not present in EVE5)
The CTRL ROOM OUT connectors are unbalanced 6,35mm. (1/4”) TS jacks, driving your studio
monitors. The level is adjusted by CTRL ROOM/PHONES knob, eventually muted by PHONES/CTRL
MUTE switch. Since the signal is received from main mix path, the level is affected by MAIN MIX
control settings.
POWER
When the blue POWER LED is lit, it means the console is powered.
+48V
This LED is lit when the PHANTOM switch is depressed, indicating that all XLR connectors receive
48V Phantom power.
LED level ladder
This high-precision 4-segment level ladder accurately displays the output signal level. -20dB green
LED lit indicates you signal presence. 0dB green LED is important when recording to digital recorders,
since these recorders should be overloaded by higher signals, driving your recordings to distortion.
+6dB yellow LED warns you about a signal which is still good for analogue systems but very close
to overload. CLIP red LED indicates you an overload, so you should immediately reduce the MAIN
MIX control, then check which input channel LEVEL is too hot.
MAIN MIX
The MAIN MIX fader adjusts the overall volume of these outputs; EVE5 feature a rotary knob for
this purpose. The main mix reference signal is 0 dBu.
