INTRODUCTION
Thankyou for purchasing this product which has
passed through our extensive quality assurance
process. very care has been taken to ensure that it
reaches you in perfect condition.
SAFETY FIRST
Before attempting to operate this power tool the
following basic safety precautions should always be
taken to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and
personal injury. It is important to read the instruction
manual to understand the application, limitations and
potential hazards associated with this tool.
CERTIFICATE OF GUARANTEE
This product is guaranteed for a period of 2 Years,
with effect from the date of purchase and applies only
to the original purchaser. This guarantee only applies
to defects arising from, defective materials and or
faulty workmanship that become evident during the
guarantee period only and does not include
consumable items. The manufacturer will repair or
replace the product at their discretion subject to the
following. That the product has been used in
accordance with the guide lines as detailed in the
product manual and that it has not been
subjected to misuse, abuse or used for a purpose for
which it was not intended. That it has not been taken
apart or tampered with in any way whatsoever or has
been serviced by unauthorised persons or has been
used for hire purposes. Transit damage is excluded
from this guarantee, for such damage the transport
company is responsible. Claims made under this
guarantee must be made in the first instance, directly
to the retailer within the guarantee period. Only under
exceptional circumstances should the product be
returned to the manufacturer. In these case it shall be
the consumer’s responsibility to return the product at
their cost ensuring that the product is adequately
packed to prevent transit damage and must be
accompanied with a brief description of the fault and
a copy of the receipt or other proof of purchase. The
manufacturer shall not be liable for any special,
exemplary, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential
loss or damage under this guarantee. This guarantee
is in addition to and does not affect any rights, which
the consumer may have by virtue of the Sale of Goods
Act 1973 as amended 1975 and 1999.

This guarantee is in addition to and in no way affects
your statutory rights.
PRODUCT DISPOSAL
When this product reaches the end of it’s life or is
disposed of for any other reason, it must not be
disposed of in household waste. In order to preserve
natural resources, and to minimise adverse
environmental impact, please recycle or dispose of
this product in an environmentally friendly way. It
should be taken to your local waste recycling centre
or other authorised collection and disposal facility.
If in doubt consult your local waste authority for
information regarding available recycling and / or
disposal options.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
These Operating Instructions are intended to facilitate
your becoming acquainted with the machine and
using it in accordance with the regulations. The
Operating Instructions contain important information
on how to use the machine safely, correctly and
economically. Observing this information will help
increase the reliability and working life of the machine.
The Operating Instructions must always be at hand
when the machine is being used.
They must be read and observed by every person
dealing with the machine, whether operating, servicing
or transporting it.
In addition to the Operating Instructions and the
applicable rules of the prevention of accidents valid in
the country of use and on site, the generally
recognized rules on working safely and correctly must
be observed as well as the accident prevention rules
of the relevant professional associations.
CHAIN SAW SAFETY WARNINGS
Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain
when the chain saw is operating. Before you start the
chain saw, make sure the saw chain is not contacting
anything. A moment of inattention while operating
chain saw may cause entanglement of your clothing
or body with the saw chain.
Always hold the chain saw with your right hand on the
rear handle and your left hand on the front handle.
Holding the chain saw with a reversed hand
configuration increases the risk of personal injury and
should never be done.
Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces
only, because the saw chain may contact hidden
wiring or its own cord. Saw chain contacting a “live”
wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool
“live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
Wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Further
protective equipment for head, hands, legs and feet is
recommended.
Adequate protective clothing will reduce personal
injury caused by flying debris or accidental contact
with the saw chain.
Do not operate a chain saw in a tree. Operating of a
chain saw while up in a tree may result in personal
injury.
Always keep proper footing and operate the chain
saw only when standing on fixed, secure and level
surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces such as ladder
may cause a loss of balance or the control of the
chain saw.

When cutting a limb that is under tension be alert for
spring back. When the tension in the wood fibres is
released the spring loaded limb may strike the
operator and/or throw the chain saw out of control.
Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings.
The slender material may catch the chain and be
whipped toward you pull you off balance.
Carry the chain saw by the front handle with the chain
saw switched off and away from your body. When
transporting or storing the chain saw always fit the
guide bar cover. Proper handling of the chain saw will
reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the
moving saw chain.
Follow the instructions for lubrication, chain tensioning
and changing accessories. Improperly tensioned or
lubricated chain may either break or increase the
chance for kickback.
Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
Greasy, oily handles are slippery causing loss of
control.
Cut wood only! Do not use chain saw for purposes
not intended.
For example: do not use chain saw for cutting plastic,
masonry or non-wood building materials. Use of the
chain saw for operations different than intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
Keep the cable away from the cutting area. When
working with the tool the cable might be hidden in
bushes and accidentally cut through.
CAUSE AND OPERATOR PREVENTION OF
KICKBACK
Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide
bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in
and pinches the saw chain in the cut.
Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden
reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back
towards the operator.
Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar
may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the
operator.
ither of these reactions may cause you to lose
control of the saw which could result in serious
personal injury. Do not rely exclusively rely upon the
safety devices built into you saw. As a chain saw user,
you should take several steps to keep your cutting
jobs free from accident or injury.
Kickback is a result of tool misuse and/or incorrect
operating procedures or conditions and can be
avoided by taking proper precautions as given below:
Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fingers
encircling the chain saw handles, with both hands on
the saw and position your body and arm to allow you
to resist kickback forces. Kickback forces can be
controlled by the operator, if proper precautions are
taken. Do not let go of the chain saw!
Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder
height. This helps prevent unintended tip contact and
enables better control of the chain saw in unexpected
situations.
Only use replacement bars and chains specified by
the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement bars and
chains may cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Never attempt to use an incomplete machine or one
which an unauthorised alteration has been
implemented.
These devices are not designed to be operated by
persons who have insufficient experience and/or
insufficient knowledge or by persons with impaired
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, unless they
are being supervised by a person who is responsible
for their safety or they are receiving instructions about
how these devices are to be used.
Children and young persons under 18 may not
operate electrical chainsaws, with the exception of
apprentices older than 16 under the supervision of a
trained adult.
The chainsaw may only be used by persons who have
sufficient experience.
Always keep these Operating Instructions together
with the chainsaw.
Only lend or give this chainsaw to persons who are
familiar with its use. Also give them these Operating
Instructions.
USING THE CHAIN SAW SAFELY
Attention! Read the Operating Instructions carefully
and have yourself instructed in the use of a chain saw
before you use it for the first time.
Always store your electric tools in a safe place.

dry, inaccessible or locked place, outside the reach of
children.
Check the extension cable regularly and replace it if it
gets worn or damaged.
Check the power cable for damage or cracks every
time before you use it. Damaged cables must be
replaced.
Always hold the chain saw with both hands while
working with it.
The chain saw must be disconnected from the power
supply before you tighten the chain, exchange the
chain or carry out any other work on the saw. - Pull
the plug!
During work breaks put the machine down in such a
manner that nobody is at risk.
When switching on the chain saw, ensure that it is
supported well and hold it firmly. The chain and bar
must be free.

Disconnect the chainsaw from the power source if the
power cable is damaged or cut.
The chain saw may only be connected to socket
outlets with a ground contact and tested electrical
installations. We recommend the use of a residual-
current-operated circuit-breaker.
The cable must be fully unwound when you use a
cable reel.
nsure that the power cable has no kinks and is not
damaged.
Always position the cable so, that it will not be caught
on branches and the like, during cutting.
The chain saw may only be used in a completely
assembled state. No protective devices may be
missing.
Switch the chain saw off immediately if you notice any
changes in the machine.
Always have a first-aid kit at hand in case of
accidents.
If the chain saw comes into contact with earth,
stones, nails or other foreign objects, withdraw the
plug immediately and check the chain as well as the
bar.
nsure that no chain oil penetrates into the earth or
sewage. Always place the chain saw on something
that will absorb any oil dripping from the bar or chain.
Avoid using the chainsaw in poor weather conditions,
especially if there is a risk of a thunderstorm.
WARNING TO THE DANGER OF RECOIL
If possible, use a stand.
Always keep an eye on the bar tip.
Only place a running saw on the object to be cut.
Never start the machine while the chain rests on
something.
So called piercing cuts with the bar tip may only be
carried out by trained personnel.
SAFE WORKING TECHNIQUES
Working on ladders, scaffoldings or trees is forbidden.
nsure that the wood cannot twist while it is being
cut.
Watch out for splintering wood. While you are sawing
you may be injured by flying wood chips.
Do not use the chain saw to lever or move the wood.
Only cut with the lower section of the saw. The saw
will be repulsed towards you if you try and cut with
the upper section of the saw.
nsure that the wood is free of stones, nails or other
foreign objects.
We recommend that first-time users are instructed
practically as to the correct use of the chainsaw and
the required personal safety equipment by an
experienced operator; the cutting of round wood or
logs should be trained on a log stand or similar rack-
type device first.
Keep the running chainsaw from touching the ground
or wire fences.
Warning! The operation of any power tool can result in
foreign objects being thrown into your eyes, which
can result in severe eye damage. Before beginning
power tool operation, always wear safety goggles or
safety glasses with side shields and, when needed, a
full face shield. We recommend Wide Vision Safety
Mask for use over eyeglasses or standard safety
glasses with side shields. Always use eye protection
which is marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
BEFORE CONNECTING TO THE AINS SUPPLY
xamine the mains cable for any damage caused by
chafing or cuts from sharp objects. If the cable is
damaged replace the complete cable.
xamine the chain for signs of damage, sharpness,
missing teeth and for the correct tension. xamine the
guide bar, nose guard for any damage or excessive
wear.
Check the tightness of the guide bar securing nuts
and tighten if necessary.
Check the sharpness of the spiked bumper and
sharpen if required.
Check the level of the chain oil in the reservoir and
replenish if required with a good quality chain oil.
Check the residual current device (RCD) for correct
operation.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING! Read all instructions Failure to follow all
instructions listed below may result in electric shock,
fire and/or serious injury. The term "power tool" in all
of the warnings listed below refers to your mains
operated (corded) power tool or battery operated
(cordless) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1) WORK AREA
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and
dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools
create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you
to lose control.

2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power
tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your
body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool.
Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords
increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a
cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of
electric shock.
3) PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do
not use a power tool while you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing
protection used for appropriate conditions will
reduce personal injuries.
c) Avoid accidental starting. nsure the switch is in
the off position before plugging in. Carrying power
tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in
power tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning the power tool on.
A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part
of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better control of
the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure these
are connected and properly used. Use of these
devices can reduce dust related hazards.
4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application. The correct power
tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not
turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before
making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the power
tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children
and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the
power tool or these instructions to operate the
power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the
hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and
any other condition that may affect the power
tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are caused
by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.,
in accordance with these instructions and in the
manner intended for the particular type of power
tool, taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be performed. Use of the power
tool for operations different from intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
5) SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.

CO PONENTS & CONTROLS (FIG 1)
UNPACKING
Caution! This packaging contains sharp objects. Take
care when unpacking. Remove the machine, together
with the accessories supplied, from the packaging.
Check carefully to ensure that the machine is in good
condition and account for all the accessories listed in
this manual. Also make sure that all the accessories
are complete. If any parts are found to be missing, the
machine and its accessories should be returned
together in their original packaging to the retailer.
Do not throw the packaging away, keep it safe
throughout the guarantee period, then recycle if
possible, otherwise dispose of it by the proper means.
Do not let children play with empty plastic bags due
to the risk of suffocation.
ASSE BLY
ASSE BLING THE GUIDE BAR AND CHAIN
Warning! Always ensure that the chainsaw is
disconnected from the mains supply before carrying
out any maintenance, cleaning, cutting chain
sharpening, cutting chain replacement or any
adjustments.
Warning! Risk of injury! Always use safety gloves
when assembling the chain.
Place the chainsaw on a flat, stable surface. Loosen
the guide bar securing screw by turning it counter
clockwise, Fig.2, and remove the cover.
Put the chain on the guide bar considering the running
direction of the chain. The cutting teeth on the upper
side of the bar must point in forward direction, Fig.3.
Put the free end of the chain over the chain driving
wheel, Fig.4 (B).
Place the bar such that the long hole in the bar is
placed exactly on the guiding element, Fig.4 (C), in the
bar seat.
Take care that the chain tensioning bolt, Fig.4 (D), is
seated exactly in the small opening in the bar. It must
be visible through the opening.
If necessary, adjust the knurling wheel of the chain
tensioning device, Fig.4 (A), in both directions until the
chain tensioning bolt is seated in the opening in the
bar.
Check whether all chain links are seated exactly in the
bar’s groove and the chain is lead around the chain
driving wheel correctly.
Put the cover back on and push it in place.
Moderately tighten the guide bar securing screw by
turning it clockwise.
Tension the chain. To do so turn the knurling wheel
upwards (+ direction of arrow). The chain should be
tensioned such that it can be lifted by about 3-4mm in
the centre of the guide bar (Fig.5) (5.1). To decrease
the chain tension turn the knurling wheel downwards
(- direction of arrow).
Warning! If the cutting chain tension is too slack the
cutting chain could jump off the guide bar causing
injury.
If the cutting chain tension is too tight excessive wear
will take place on the guide bar and the cutting chain
could snap causing injury.
Finally, tighten the guide bar securing screw well by
hand.
The tension in the chain has a major effect on the
service life of the cutting fittings, and must therefore
be checked regularly. When the chain warms up to
operating temperature it will expand and must be
retightened. A new saw chain will have to be
tightened more frequently until it has reached its full
length.
FILLING THE OIL RESERVOIR
Warning! The chainsaw must never be operated
without sufficient oil on the chain as this could cause
damage to the chain, blade or motor. No claims for
guarantee can be accepted if damage occurs when
the device is being operated without chain oil.
Please use only chainsaw oil, i.e. oil which is 100%
biodegradable.
Biodegradable chainsaw oil should be available
everywhere at your local specialist dealer.
Do not use old oil. This will damage the chainsaw and
will also lead to loss of the guarantee.

Before filling the oil tank, ensure that the chainsaw is
disconnected from the mains supply.
Remove the oil filler cap (Fig.6) (6.1) and place safely
aside so that the sealing ring in the tank cap does not
get lost. Fill approx 120ml of oil into the tank using a
funnel and screw on the oil filler cap tightly once
more.
It is possible to check the oil level at the oil level
indicator (Fig.6) (6.2). The oil level must never fall
below the minimum level indicator.
Do not allow sawdust or wood debris into the oil
reservoir, this will clog the lubrication system.
If you do not intend to use the machine for an
extended period, please empty the oil tank of chain
oil.
The oil tank should also be emptied before the
chainsaw is transported or sent for repair.
CHECKING THE LUBRICATION SYSTE
To check that the lubrication system is working, run
the chainsaw while holding the guide bar above some
paper. A steadily increasing stain caused by oil spray
shows that the lubrication system is working. If there
is no oil stain check and clean the lubrication system
before using the chainsaw. The chainsaw must never
be run without the oilier in full working condition.
OPERATION
CONNECTING TO A POWER SUPPLY
The voltage and current supply must comply with the
ratings on the rating label. Before commencing work,
always check that the chainsaw works properly and is
safe to operate. Check also that the chain lubrication
and the oil gauge are in good working order.
This product is designed with a power cable
retainer that prevents the extension cord from being
pulled loose while using.
Form a loop with the end of the extension cord.
Insert loop portion of extension cord through the
opening in the bottom of the rear handle and place
over power cable retainer, Fig.7.
Slowly pull loop against power cable retainer until the
slack is removed.
Plug product into extension cord.
NOT : Failure to remove all excess cord slack from
extension cord retainer could result in plug loosening
from the receptacle.
NOT : Use only approved outdoor extension cords.
NOTIC : Always use cord retainer to properly
attach extension cord to chainsaw. Failure to use cord
retainer may result in damage to chainsaw and/or
extension cord.
SWITCHING ON
Hold the saw securely with both hands so that the
thumbs and fingers are wrapped around the handle of
the chain saw.
Press with your thumb the safety lock button, Fig.8 (A)
on the left side of the rear handle and then the on/off
trigger, Fig.8 (B).
The safety lock button is used for unlocking the
switch-on mechanism and does not need to be
pressed again after the device is switched on.
To switch off the device, release the on/off trigger.
Warning! The sawing chain will start running at high
speed immediately. When putting the saw down,
make sure that the chain never touches stones or
metal objects.
SAFETY DEVICES ON YOUR CHAIN BRAKE
CHAIN BRAKE
This chainsaw is equipped with a mechanical brake
for the chain. In the case of uncontrolled movements,
when the tip of the saw blade gets in contact with
wood or a solid object, the drive of the chain is
immediately stopped by activation of the hand guard,
Fig.9 (B), the motor will not be stopped. This brake
function is initiated by the back of your hand on the
front handle Fig.9 (A) pushing the Fig.9 (B) hand
guard. The proper function of the saw chain brake
shall be checked before each use of the saw.
About every 10 hours of operation, the chain brake
should be checked for its proper function. After the
chain brake has been activated, wait for the motor to
come to a halt before you engage the clutch again. Do
not unnecessarily activate the chain brake as this may
result in increased wear and tear.
Caution! No buttons should be pressed when the
chain brake is released (hand protection pulled back
in the direction of the handle and locked).
Always ensure before starting the chainsaw that the
hand protection Fig.9 (B) is locked in the operating
position. To do this, pull back the hand protection in
the direction of the handle.
RUNDOWN BRAKE
In accordance with the latest regulations, this
chainsaw is equipped with a mechanical rundown
brake. This brake is connected to the chain brake and
stops the running chain after the chainsaw has been
switched off.
It is activated by releasing the on/off trigger. The
rundown brake avoids injuries through the coasting of
the chain.

USING THE CHAINSAW SAFELY
IPORTANT NOTICE
Before attempting to fell or prune a tree check with
your local authority on matters concerning bylaws and
preservation orders. The felling or pruning of trees
protected by local byelaws or preservation orders is
an offence.
WORK AREA
For all chainsaw operations clear the work area of any
obstructions that could interfere with the safe
operation of the chainsaw. When tree felling
consideration must be given to the direction of fall,
safety areas, overhead cables, fences, buildings,
bystanders, animals, ground slope, prevailing weather
conditions i.e. wind direction and surrounding trees.
BASIC LOGGING OR CROSSCUTTING
The first time user should practice logging using a
saw horse or similar device which is stable and
securely supports the log Fig.A. Select a suitable
manageable size log
and locate it securely onto the saw horse. nsure that
there is sufficient overhang to allow the cut to be
made without any part of the chainsaw making
contact with the saw horse Fig.A. Adopt a stable body
position with the left arm almost straight, ensuring that
no part of your body extends beyond an imaginary
straight line drawn through the centre of the guide bar

against the log Fig.C1. Only now should the chainsaw
be switched on. Warning! Do not start the chainsaw
with the chain in contact with the timber. Start the cut
by increasing the upwards pressure on the rear handle
causing a pivoting action against the spiked bumper

reduce the downwards pressure on the front and
apply downwards pressure on the rear handle to
reposition the spiked bumper lower down on the log

with the log.
If logging is to be carried out on the ground the log to
be cut should be supported on another log Fig.D. If
the ground is sloping the operator should stand uphill
of the piece being cut off.
RE OVING BRANCHES FRO STANDING TI BER
Only remove branches that are accessible at shoulder
height or below. If the tree is not to be felled the
branch to be removed should be cut off as close to
the tree trunk as is safely possible. To ensure that the
branch falls away cleanly without swinging
downwards, causing possible injury to the operator,
the branch should be first undercut by approximately
one third of its diameter Fig. 1. The cut is then
completed with a top cut Fig. 2.
RE OVING BRANCHES FRO FELLED TI BER
Start removing the branches from the base of the tree
trunk, adopt a stable stance with both feet firmly on
the ground. Keep the tree trunk between yourself and
the branch being removed. If the tree is on a slope
work from the uphill side of the trunk. Do not walk or
stand on the tree trunk, it could roll causing injury. Cut
the branches as close to the trunk as possible,
supporting the guide bar against tree trunk and the
body of the chainsaw against your right leg. Using the
forward moving part of the chain pull the saw across
the trunk removing the branch. When removing
branches next to you, support the guide bar against
tree trunk and the body of the chainsaw against your
right leg. Using the backward moving part of the
chain, pull the saw across the trunk removing the
branch.
FELLING SAPLINGS
Saplings and taller slender trees are very flexible and
are prone to catching the cutting chain which could
whip the sapling towards you and could pull you off
balance. Saplings should be felled as close to the
ground as possible taking care that the saw chain
does not come into contact with the ground.
GENERAL TREE FELLING
This manual only covers basic tree felling techniques.
For more advanced felling techniques the user should
obtain formal practical training.
RISK ASSESS ENT
Before attempting to fell any tree a risk assessment
must be carried out in order to identify all the risks
involved in felling the chosen tree. The risk
assessment should include the following:
Are there any power lines, buildings, walls or fences,
that could be damaged when the tree is felled?
Are there other trees that would prevent the chosen
tree to be felled from falling safely without hanging
up?
Is the chosen tree leaning, if it is extra care will be
needed when felling to ensure that the tree fall’s
where you want it to?
Can you drop the tree safely where you want it to?
Make sure that the tree has a clear area in which to
fall.
Is the area around the trunk of the tree clear of brush
wood and other obstructions that would prevent a
solid footing and an unobstructed all round view of
the cutting area?
Check the wind strength and direction to see if this
will affect how the tree will fall
The tree should be checked for dead branches,
hanging branches and rot in the trunk.
Check that your safety escape routes are clear. There
should be at least two safety escape route’s Fig.F.

THE FELLING CUTS
Felling a tree requires at least two different cuts, the
face cut and a back cut. The face cut consists of two
cuts which removes a wedge of timber (typically this
is at an angle of between 45° to 90°) from the trunk
and partially determines the initial direction of fall
Fig.G. The wedge cut should be no deeper than 1/3rd
of the diameter of the tree trunk. There are numerous
ways in which to cut this wedge, the inexperienced
user should concentrate on the basic 60° to 70° face
cut with a flat bottom.
The back cut is made behind the wedge cut
approximately 1 to 2 inches above the notch made by
the wedge cut Fig.H. Make sure that the cut is made
parallel to the notch. Make the cut quickly and
smoothly while watching the cut and the tree. Do not
cut all the way through the tree. You must leave about
1/2 inch of wood between the back cut and the notch;
this is called the hinge which will control the rate and
determine the final direction of fall Fig.I. If the back cut
is not made parallel to the wedge bottom cut the
direction of fall will be affected. Fig.J. shows how the
direction of fall will be affected if the back cut is not
parallel to the bottom wedge cut.
Warning! If the wedge cut is not made deep enough,
when the back cut is being made the weight of the
tree could pinch the cutting chain. To prevent
pinching, plastic or hardwood wedges can be
hammered into the back cut behind the cutting chain.
If wedges are used, care must be taken when re-
inserting the cutting chain into the partially cut, back
cut, that the saw chain does not come into contact
with the wedges.
As soon as the tree begins to fall, remove the saw
from the back cut and switch it off and retreat along
one of the predetermined escape routes, walk don’t
run. You need to clear the area quickly so that if
anything goes wrong you will be at a safe distance
avoiding injury.
Only when you hear the tree hit the ground is it safe to
stop and turn around.
WARNING!
If the felled tree becomes ‘hung up’ (the tree becomes
caught up in surrounding trees). The inexperienced
user should not attempt to free the tree from this
position. It will require a skilled and experienced
operator to safely remove the tree. Under no
circumstances should a ‘hung up’ tree be left in this
position. If it cannot be removed immediately, warning
signs and a safety barrier must be erected around the
area.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIP ENT (PPE)
Suitable personal protective equipment should always
be worn – no matter how small the job. uropean
standards for chainsaw PP are published as part of
N 381 Protective clothing for users of hand-held
chainsaws.
There are various types of protective clothing
designed specifically for protection against serious
injury when using a chainsaw. This clothing can be
purchased from a reputable power tool supplier or it
can be hired from one of the larger hire shops.
It is strongly recommended that the following
protective clothing is worn when using a chainsaw.
1. HEAD PROTECTION
A safety helmet to N 397.
Should be worn and adjusted to fit correctly.
2. HEARING PROTECTION
ar protectors to N 352-1.
Should be worn at all times when the chainsaw is
running.
3. EYE PROTECTION
A mesh visor to N1731.
Worn in conjunction with the safety helmet or
safety glasses to N166 Should be worn at all
times when using a chainsaw.
4. UPPER BODY PROTECTION
A chainsaw jacket to pr N381-10.
Can provide additional protection where
operators are at increased risk and is
recommended especially when using a chainsaw
above waist height.
5. HAND PROTECTION
Gloves to N 381-7.
Should be worn except where there is a risk of
snagging.
6. LEG PROTECTION
Chainsaw trousers to N 381-5.
Giving all round leg protection are recommended
for occasional users of chainsaws.
7. FOOT AND ANKLE PROTECTION
Chainsaw boots to N 345-2.
Bearing a shield depicting a chainsaw to show
compliance with N 381-3 should be worn. For
occasional users, working on even ground where
there is little risk of tripping or snagging on
undergrowth.
Protective gaiters to N 381-9 can be worn in
conjunction with steel-toe-capped safety boots.
Note: No protective equipment can ensure 100%
protection against injury from a hand held chainsaw.

AINTENANCE
WARNING! During maintenance and cleaning ensure
the machine is switched off and disconnected from the
mains power supply.
To ensure long and reliable service, carry out the
following maintenance regularly:
Regularly check for obvious defects such as loose,
dislodged or damaged chain and guide bar, loose
fixings and worn or damaged components.
Check that covers and guards are undamaged and
correctly fitted. Carry out necessary maintenance or
repairs before using the chain saw.
If the chain saw should happen to fail despite the care
taken in manufacturing and testing, repair should be
carried out by an authorized customer service agent.
NOT : Before returning, ensure all oil in the oil tank has
been emptied.
GENERAL AINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types
of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their
use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease,
etc.
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-
based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact
with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken, or
destroy plastic, which could result in serious personal
injury.
All chainsaw service, other than the items listed in
these maintenance instructions, should be performed
by competent chainsaw service personnel.
GUIDE BAR
Most guide bar problems can be avoided by keeping
the product well maintained. Incorrect filing and non-
uniform cutter and depth gauge settings cause most
guide bar problems, primarily resulting in uneven bar
wear. As the bar wears unevenly, the rails widen, which
may cause chain clatter and difficulty in making
straight cuts. Insufficient guide bar lubrication and
operating the product with a chain this is too tight will
contribute to rapid bar wear. To help minimise bar
wear, the guide bar maintenance is recommended.
When the guide bar is dismounted, remove any
sawdust from the “GROOV “ in the guide bar rail.
Disassemble the saw chain and guide bar in reversed
order of assembly.
The circular groove of the guide bar will wear
particularly on the lower edge with time. When
replacing the chain turn the chain bar 180° to allow
even wear, thus extending guide bar life.
Rotate the guide bar occasionally to prevent uneven
wear. The guide bar ‘rail’ should always have a square
edge.
To check the guide bar “RAIL“ for wear: Hold a ruler
(straight edge) against the side of the guide bar and
“CUTT R SID PLAT S“.
If there is a gap between the ruler and guide bar the
guide bar “RAIL“ is normal. If there is no gap (ruler
flush against the side of the guide bar) the guide bar
“RAIL“ is worn and needs to be replaced.
(See Fig.10 & 11)
Assemble the guide bar and saw chain as described
under “Assembling the guide bar and chain”.
SHARPENING THE CHAIN
WARNING! Only sharpen the saw chain yourself if you
are trained and have experience! Use proper tools to
sharpen the saw chain!
It is highly recommended that, once the chain loses it’s
ability to cut cleanly and safely, it is replaced. It is
possible, however, to sharpen the existing chain if
done carefully.
Have your saw chain sharpened professionally at an
authorised service centre or sharpen the chain yourself
using a proper sharpening kit. Follow the sharpening
instructions supplied with a sharpening kit.
To sharpen the chain proceed as follows:
Tighten the chain tension enough that the chain does
not wobble. Do all of your filing at the midpoint of the
bar. Wear gloves for protection.
Use a round file, whose diameter is 1.1 times the
cutting tooth depth. Make sure 20% of the file diameter
is above the cutter’s top plate.
A file guide is available from most reputable tool
merchants and is the easiest way to hold the file at the
correct position. (Fig.12)
File at an angle perpendicular to the bar, and at an
angle of 25° to the direction of travel. (Fig.13)
File each tooth from the inside towards outside only.
File one side of the chain first than turn the product
around and repeat the process.
Sharpen each tooth equally by using the same number
of strokes.
Keep all cutter lengths equal.
Check the safety depth gauge height every 5
sharpenings.
If the depth gauges are also trimmed it is essential that
the original profile be restored.
Use a depth gauge measuring instrument to check the
height of the depth gauge.
Depth gauge measuring jigs are available from most
reputable tool merchants.
NOT : Dull or improperly sharpened chain can cause
excessive motor speed during cutting which may result
in severe motor damage.

STORAGE
Clean all foreign material from the product. Store idle
unit indoors in a dry, well-ventilated area that is
inaccessible to children. Keep away from corrosive
agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
Always place the blade guard on the chain saw blade
when transporting or storing the chainsaw. The blade
guard is a snug fit and must be attached very carefully
due to the sharp teeth on the saw chain. This is best
done by grasping the blade guard at one end, in the
centre portion of the guard, and carefully sliding it
over the chain. Use caution to avoid the sharp teeth of
the chain.
NOT : The saw chain is very sharp. Always wear
protective gloves when handling the chain.

Seiso aina tukevasti ja käytä moottorisahaa vain, kun
seisot lujalla, varmalla ja tasaisella pinnalla. Liukkaat
tai epävakaat alustat, kuten tikapuut, saattavat
aiheuttaa tasapainon ja moottorisahan hallinnan
menetyksen.
Varo takapotkua jännityksessä olevia oksia
sahatessasi. Vapautuessaan jännityksestä oksa voi
sinkoutua käyttäjää päin ja/tai voit menettää
moottorisahan hallinnan.
Ole erityisen varovainen pensaita ja taimikoita
sahatessasi. Hento aines saattaa tarttua ketjuun ja
sinkoutua eteenpäin sinua kohti ja aiheuttaa
tasapainon menetyksen.
Kanna moottorisahaa etukahvasta siten, että saha on
sammutettuna ja poispäin kehostasi. Käytä terälevyn
suojusta aina, kun kuljetat moottorisahaa tai laitat sen
varastoon. Moottorisahan oikea käsittely pienentää

Kärjen kosketus saattaa joissain tapauksissa aiheuttaa
äkillisen peruutusreaktion ja potkaista terälevyn ylös ja
taaksepäin käyttäjää kohti.
Sahaketjun puristuminen terälevyn yläosaa vasten
saattaa työntää terälevyn nopeasti taaksepäin
käyttäjää kohti.
Kumpikin näistä reaktioista voi aiheuttaa sahan
hallinnan menettämisen, mikä voi johtaa vakavaan
henkilövahinkoon. Älä luota yksinomaan sahaan
rakennettuihin turvalaitteisiin. Moottorisahan
käyttäjänä sinun tulee huolehtia useiden eri toimien
avulla siitä, että sahaus on turvallista.
Takapotku on seuraus työkalun väärinkäytöstä ja/tai
vääristä käyttötoimenpiteistä tai olosuhteista, ja se
voidaan välttää noudattamalla seuraavia varotoimia:
Pidä koko ajan lujasti kiinni siten, että peukalot ja
sormet ovat moottorisahan kahvojen ympärillä ja
kumpikin käsi on sahassa kiinni ja sijoita kehosi ja
käsivartesi niin, että voit vastata takapotkuvoimiin.
Käyttäjä voi hallita takapotkuvoimia, jos hän varautuu
oikein. Älä irrota otetta moottorisahasta!
Älä kurkota liian pitkälle äläkä sahaa hartioita
korkeammalla. Näin pystyt estämään tahattoman
kärkikosketuksen ja hallitsemaan moottorisahan
paremmin odottamattomissa tilanteissa.
Käytä vain valmistajan määrittelemiä vaihtolaippoja ja
ketjuja. Väärät vaihtolaipat ja -ketjut saattavat
aiheuttaa terän rikkoutumisen ja/tai takaiskun.
HENKILÖTURVALLISUUS
Älä koskaan yritä käyttää epätäydellistä laitetta tai
laitetta, johon on tehty luvaton muutos.
Näitä laitteita ei ole suunniteltu sellaisten henkilöiden
käyttöön, joilta puuttuu riittävä käyttökokemus ja/tai
osaaminen tai jotka ovat fyysisesti, aistimuksellisesti
tai henkisesti vajaakykyisiä, ellei heidän
turvallisuudestaan vastaava henkilö valvo heitä tai ei
ole antanut heille ohjeita näiden laitteiden

Moottorisahaa saavat käyttää vain henkilöt, joilla on
riittävä käyttökokemus.
Säilytä nämä käyttöohjeet aina samassa paikassa kuin
moottorisaha.
Lainaa tai luovuta moottorisaha vain henkilöille, jotka
osaavat käyttää sitä. Anna heille myös nämä
käyttöohjeet.
OOTTORISAHAN TURVALLINEN KÄYTTÖ
Huomio! Lue käyttöohjeet huolellisesti ja tutustu
moottorisahan käyttämiseen ennen kuin käytät sitä
ensimmäisen kerran.
Säilytä sähkötyökalut aina turvallisessa paikassa. Kun
sähkötyökaluja ei käytetä, ne tulee varastoida kuiviin,
lukittuihin tiloihin lasten ulottumattomiin.
Tarkasta jatkojohto säännöllisesti ja vaihda se, jos se
on kulunut tai vaurioitunut.
Tarkasta virtajohto vaurioiden tai murtumien varalta
ennen jokaista käyttökertaa. Vaurioituneet johdot on
vaihdettava.
Pidä moottorisahaa aina molemmilla käsillä
työskentelyn aikana.
Moottorisaha on irrotettava virtalähteestä ennen kuin
kiristät ketjua, vaihdat ketjun tai teet jotain muita
toimenpiteitä sahalle. - Vedä pistokkeesta!
Aseta kone työtaukojen ajaksi siten, että se ei aiheuta
vaaraa kenellekään.

Moottorisahaa on tuettava tukevasti ja pidettävä lujasti
kiinni, kun se käynnistetään. Ketjun ja terälevyn pitää
olla vapaita.
Irrota moottorisaha virtalähteestä, jos virtajohto on
vaurioitunut tai poikki.
Moottorisahan saa yhdistää vain maadoitettuun
pistorasiaan ja hyväksyttyyn sähköasennukseen.
Suosittelemme käyttämään vikavirtasuojakytkintä.
Jos käytät kelaa, pura johto kokonaan kelalta.
Varmista, ettei virtajohdossa ole kiertymiä, eikä se ole
vaurioitunut.
Aseta johto aina siten, ettei se tartu oksiin tai
vastaaviin sahauksen aikana.
Moottorisahaa saa käyttää vain, kun se on täydellisesti
koottu. Kaikkien suojalaitteiden on oltava
asennettuina.
Sammuta moottorisaha välittömästi, jos huomaat
koneessa jotain muutoksia.
Pidä ensiapulaukku aina saatavilla tapaturmien varalta.
Jos moottorisaha joutuu kosketuksiin maan, kivien,
naulojen tai muiden vieraiden esineiden kanssa, irrota
pistoke välittömästi ja tarkasta ketju sekä terälevy.
Varmista, ettei ketjuöljyä pääse maahan tai
viemäreihin. Aseta saha aina jollekin alustalle, joka
imee terälevystä tai ketjusta mahdollisesti tipahtelevan
öljyn.
Vältä moottorisahan käyttämistä huonoissa
sääolosuhteissa, etenkin jos on ukkosenilman vaara.
VAROITUS TAKAPOTKUVAARASTA
Mikäli mahdollista käytä telinettä.
Pidä aina terälevyn kärkeä silmällä.
Aseta saha sahattavaan kohteeseen ketjun pyöriessä.
Älä koskaan käynnistä konetta, jos ketju lepää jonkin
päällä.
Niin kutsutun pistosahauksen terälevyn kärjellä saa
tehdä vain tähän koulutettu henkilö.
TURVALLISET TYÖSKENTELYTEKNIIKAT
Työskentely tikapuilla, rakennustelineillä tai puissa on
kielletty.
Varmista, ettei puu pääse kierähtämään sahauksen
aikana.
Varo pirstoutuvia puunkappaleita. Sahauksen aikana
lentelevät puunsirut voivat aiheuttaa tapaturmia.
Älä käytä sahaa puun nostamiseen tai siirtämiseen.
Käytä sahaamiseen vain sahan alareunaa. Saha
kimpoaa kohti sinua, jos yrität sahata sahan
yläreunalla.
Varmista, ettei puussa ole kiviä, nauloja tai muita
vieraita esineitä.
Suosittelemme, että ensimmäistä kertaa käyttävät
saavat käytännön ohjausta moottorisahan oikeaan
käyttämiseen ja tarvittavien henkilönsuojainten
valitsemiseen kokeneemmalta käyttäjältä. Pyöreän
puun tai pölkkyjen sahaamista tulisi harjoitella telineen
tai sahapukin päällä.
Älä anna käynnissä olevan moottorisahan koskettaa
maata tai verkkoaitoja.
Varoitus! Minkä tahansa sähkötyökalun käyttö saattaa
aiheuttaa vieraiden esineiden sinkoutumisen silmiin,
mikä voi aiheuttaa vakavia silmävammoja. Käytä aina
suojalaseja, joissa on sivusuojat, ja tarvittaessa koko
kasvot peittävää suojaa, kun käytät sähkötyökaluja.
Silmälasien päällä suosittelemme käytettäväksi
suojamaskia, jossa on laaja näkökenttä, tai tavallisia
suojalaseja, joissa on sivusuojat. Käytä aina
suojalaseja, jotka täyttävät ANSI Z87.1 -vaatimukset.
ENNEN YHDISTÄ ISTÄ SÄHKÖVERKKOON
Tarkasta, että sähköjohdossa ei ole mitään roskien tai
terävien esineiden aiheuttamia vaurioita. Jos johto on
vaurioitunut, vaihda koko johto uuteen.
Tarkasta, ettei ketjussa ole merkkejä vaurioista,
terävyyttä, puuttuvia hampaita, ja että niiden kireys on
oikea. Tarkasta terälevy ja suojukset vaurioiden ja
liiallisen kulumisen varalta.
Tarkasta terälevyn kiinnitysmuttereiden kireys ja kiristä
tarvittaessa.
Tarkasta kaarnapiikin terävyys ja teroita tarvittaessa.
Tarkasta ketjuöljyn määrä säiliössä ja lisää tarvittaessa
hyvälaatuista ketjuöljyä.
Tarkista vikavirtasuojakytkimen (vvsk) oikea toiminta.
