INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the GRITT Monarch 250.100 Operating Manual. This
manual will familiarize you with the use and care of your new watch.
Before we get started, we’d like to thank you again for purchasing a
GRITT Monarch. You’ve joined a very exclusive club. You are now one of
300 people in this world to own a 250.100 GRITT Monarch.
Please remember that owning the 250.100 GRITT Monarch grants you
the VIP+ status in the GRITT hierarchy. This means that you’ll now have
the chance to buy any future GRITT watch before anyone else. Please
keep in mind, that this benefit follows the watch, so in order to claim
the VIP+ status benefits in the future, you’ll need to verify that you still
own both the watch and the ownership card at the time of ordering.
With that out of the way, let us learn about your new watch.
The Monarch is powered by our V10 Calibre movement. The V10 is a
high beat (28,800 vibrations per hour – 4Hz) automatic 26 Jewel Swiss
made movement with a 38 hour power reserve, an advanced anti-shock
system, a hacking seconds hand and a quick date set functionality.
Your watch is operated using the crown on the right side of your watch.
It can be used to set the time, the date and to wind your watch.
Your GRITT Monarch uses a screw down crown for improved dive rating
in order to ensure the watch is fully water resistant when it’s in use.
The crown is locked in position by pushing it towards the case [⤆] and
screwing it clockwise [↻] until the crown is fully tight. The crown is
unlocked by screwing the crown in the counter clockwise [↺] direction
until it pops out of position.

OPERATING THE CROWN
The crown has 4 positions.
A. Normal Operation (wearing position) [↻↺] – this is the normal position for your
watch with the crown fully screwed in to ensure water resistance.
B. Manual Winding Position [↻] – this is the position closest to the case and should
only be used if the watch is fully stopped. The watch automatically goes to this
position when the crown is fully unscrewed. You can then wind the watch by
rotating the crown clockwise. In order to avoid over-winding, only wind it 20 turns
and then let the automatic movement do the rest. Do not wind the watch
counterclockwise as that can damage the mechanism.
Tip: You can skip this step by simply giving your watch a few shakes until the
seconds hand starts moving.
C. Quick Date Set Position [↻] – this is the middle position of the crown (one click) and
lets you jump the date wheel, one date at a time. To change the date, in the middle
position, wind the crown clockwise. Do not wind the crown counter-clockwise as
that can damage the mechanism.
D. Time Set Position [↻↺] – this is the furthest out position in the movement (two
clicks) and lets you set the current time. Do not use a lot of force to get into this
position. Once in this position, push the crown clockwise or counter clockwise until
you get to the correct time.
Tip: Do not confuse noon and midnight when setting the time.

DIVING BASICS
The GRITT Monarch 250.100 has a 200 Meter Water Resistance rating.
Diving Math: 200 Meters = 660 Feet = 20 ATM
This means this watch is suitable for most water based activities. You
can take a bath with it, swim with it and even do some recreational
shallow diving.
Diving Tips
- GRITT recommends using a dive computer for all dives, dive
computers are cheap and offer a lot more information about your
dive profile than just the elapsed time. You should only be using
your watch as a backup in case your dive computer runs out of
power.
- Please ensure that the crown is completely screwed in before
submerging the watch under water. Improperly screwed in
crowns lead to damaged movements and expensive repair costs.
- Under no circumstances should you operate the crown when the
watch is wet or in the water.
- If used in sea water, please make sure to rinse the watch in fresh
water and dry it completely.
- Note: Water Resistance is tested under optimal conditions with
brand new gaskets and a completely motionless watch. Swimming
movements increase this pressure, so the actual max depth limit
for your watch in the real world is going to be lower than 200
Meters.

CHANGING THE STRAP
We realize that some GRITT owners may wish to replace the stock strap
that came with your watch with a different style/material. If you don’t
want to use the GRITT straps, simply use any 18mm strap instead or
commission a strap maker to make you a custom piece with the same
dimensions as your stock strap.
Changing the strap is especially easy on the GRITT Monarch thanks to
the drilled lugs and our use of the bolt/nut combination instead of
regular spring bars to hold the strap in place.
To change your strap, simply unscrew the bolt/nut using a 1.5MM Hex
Screwdriver or a 1.5MM Allen Wrench, take the old strap off, reinstall
the new strap and reverse the process.
The hex design of the screws insures that you don’t have to worry
about stripping the screws or scratching them like you do with flat head
and Phillips head screws that are normally used.

CARING FOR YOUR WATCH
We have a few tips to help you care for your watch. After all, proper
care for your GRITT Monarch can help the watch last a lifetime. There
are a few small things you can do, to help you avoid preventable
damage to your watch:
- Make sure the crown is always screwed-in to prevent dust, dirt or
water from getting inside, but try and avoid over-tightening the
crown when screwing it in.
- Wash your watch from time to time. A simple cleaning can help
your watch look new. Use cold water, soap and a q-tip to get in
the gaps. Make sure to clean over a towel to avoid damage if you
drop the watch accidently while cleaning. Make sure to avoid hot
water and under no circumstances should you use a dishwasher
or any chemicals when cleaning your watch.
- Only clean the watch crystal with a microfiber cloth
- Avoid taking a hot shower/bath while wearing your watch.
- Avoid strong magnets or similar devices.
- When taking off your watch, avoid rough surfaces. Be extra
careful when taking your watch to the beach…always remember
where the “sand” part from the word sandpaper comes from.
- Try and avoid storing your watch in direct sunlight, this will
prevent the dial from fading and changing colors with time.
- Even though our movement is designed to handle minor shocks,
try and avoid wearing your watch during high shock activities (ex:
shooting high caliber weapons).
- Service your GRITT Monarch every 5 years either through GRITT or
by using a local watchsmith.
