CONNECTIONS AT A GLANCE
The Guest ChargePro Model 2612A is designed to be used as a charger for lead acid
batteries (flooded cell or AGM types) and gel cell batteries. We recommend that you set
up the charger near the battery you wish to charge, and make connections in the following
order:
• ChargerPOS(redwirewithfuse)tobattery"+".
• ChargerNEG(blackwire)tobattery"–".
• PlugAClinecordintoaGFCIprotectedwallsocket.
• Removeconnectionsinthereverseorder.
1. INTRODUCING THE CHARGER
TheGUESTChargePro2612Aisdesignedtobothrechargeyourbattery,andextend
your battery’s life in applications where it is stored for long periods of time. The 2612A is a
“3-stage”electronicbatterycharger.Lightweight,silent,completelyautomatic,andreverse
polarity protected, it produces 12 Volts DC at a full 10 Amps, while using much less AC
currentthanolderchargers.Unlikeautomotive“trickle”chargers,the2612Awillnotboiloff
the electrolyte in properly installed and maintained batteries. When the 2612A is attached
to your battery and plugged into a standard 115 Volt / 60 Hz AC outlet, the red and green
LED’sletyouknowtheunitisrechargingandmaintainingyourbattery.
2. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Thismanualcontainsimportantsafetyandoperatinginstructionsforthecharger.Readthe
entire manual before using. Also read all instructions and cautions for and on the charger,
batteriesandequipmentinthevicinityofthebatteries.

!THIS CHARGER SHOULD BE USED TO CHARGE ONLY 12VOLT DC LEAD
ACID, AGM OR GEL CELL TYPE BATTERY SYSTEMS. USE ON OTHER THAN A 12
VDC SYSTEM CAN CAUSE THE BATTERY TO EXPLODE AND CAUSE PERSONAL
INJURY.

ofbattery.Reviewcautionarymarkingontheseproductsandonengine.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.Use of an attachment not recommended by the manufacturer may result in a risk of fire,
shock or injury.
2.To reduce the risk of damage to electric plug and cord, pull by plug rather than cord
when disconnecting the chargers.
3.Anextensioncordshouldnotbeusedunlessabsolutelynecessary.Useofimproper
extensioncordcouldresultsinariskoffireandelectricshock.Ifanextensioncordmust
be used, make sure:
a)Thatpinsonplugofextensioncordarethesamenumber,sizeandshapeasthoseof
the plug on the charger;
b)Thattheextensioncordisproperlywiredandingoodelectricalcondition;and
c) That wire size is large enough for ac ampere rating of the charger as specified below

4.Do not operate charger with a damaged cord or plug.
5.Donotoperatethechargerifithasreceivedasharpblow,beendropped,orotherwise
damaged in any way.
6.Do not attempt to disassemble the charger.
7.To reduce the risk of injury unplug charger from outlet before attempting any
maintenance or cleaning. Turning off controls alone will not reduce the risk.
8.Donotexposechargertorainorsnow.
PERSONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Adhere to the following personal safety precautions when installing or working with the
chargers:
1.Someoneshouldbewithinvoicerangeorcloseenoughtocometoyouraidwhenyou
work near a lead-acid battery.
2.Haveplentyoffreshwaterandsoapnearbyincasebatteryacidcontactsskin,clothing,
or eyes.
3.Wearcompleteeyeprotectionandclothingprotection.Avoidtouchingeyeswhile
working near a battery.
4.Ifbatteryacidcontactsskinorclothing,washthemimmediatelywithsoapandwater.If
acid enters the eye, flood the eye with cold, running water for at least ten minutes and
get medical attention.
5.Neversmokeorallowanopenflameinthevicinityofthebattery.
6.Donotdropametaltoolontothebattery.Itmayspark,shortcircuitthebatteryandmay
causeanexplosion.
7.Removeallpersonalmetalitemssuchasrings,bracelets,necklaces,andwatcheswhen
working near a lead-acid battery. A battery can produce short circuit currents high
enoughtoweldaringortheliketometal,causingasevereburn.
8.Usechargerforchargingaleadacid,AGMorgelbatteryonly.Itisnotintendedto

supplypowertoalowvoltageelectricalsystemotherthaninastartermotorapplication.
Do not use charger for charging dry cell batteries that are commonly used with home
appliances.These batteries will burst and cause injury to persons and damage
to property.
9.Neverchargeafrozenbattery.
PREPARING TO CHARGE PRECAUTIONS
Before charging a battery with the charger, read the following precautions:
1. WARNING
!Do NOT operatethechargerifthecablesoranLEDisdamaged.
2.Make sure all accessories on the product you are charging are OFF.
3.Ifthebatteryorbatteriesmustberemovedfromtheproduct,alwaysremovethe
grounded terminal from the battery first. Make sure all accessories in the product are
off, so as not to cause an electrical arc.
4.Besuretheareaaroundthebatteryiswellventilatedwhilethebatteryisbeingcharged.
Gas can be forcefully blown away using a piece of cardboard or other non-metallic
material as a “hand fan”.
5.Clean battery terminals. Be careful to keep corrosion from coming in contact with eyes.
6.Adddistilledwaterineachcelluntilbatteryacidreacheslevelsspecifiedbythebattery
manufacturer,ifapplicable.Donotoverfill.Forabatterywithoutcellcaps,carefully
follow the manufacturer’s recharging instructions.
7.Studyallbatterymanufacturer'sspecificprecautionswhilechargingandrecommended
rates of charge.
8.Determinevoltageofbatterybyreferringtoproduct'smanual,andmakesureitmatches
output rating of battery charger.

GROUNDING AND AC POWER CORD CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS
Charger should be grounded to reduce risk of electric shock. Charger is equipped with an
electriccordhavinganequipment-groundingconductorandagroundingplug.Theplug
must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with
all local codes and ordinances.

3. INSTALLING THE CHARGER
CHOOSING CHARGING LOCATION
1.Thechargershouldhaveatleasteightinchesofunobstructedareaonallsidesofthe
unitforeffectivecooling.Thecaseofthischargerwillbecomewarmduringoperation.
Becausethechargerisconvectioncooled(airflowoverthebackofthecharger),the
optimummountingpositionforthechargerisvertical.Mountingonitsbackona
horizontal surface may cause the charger to slightly reduce amperage output due to

the thermal protection built in. Do not install the charger on carpeted, upholstered, or
varnishedsurfaces.
2.Locate charger as far away from battery as dc cables permit.
3.Neverplacechargerdirectlyabovebatterybeingcharged;gasesfrombatterywill
corrode and damage charger.
4.Neverallowbatteryacidtodriponchargerwhenreadingelectrolytespecificgravityor
filling battery.
5.Donotoperatechargerinaclosed-inareaorrestrictventilationinanyway.
6.Do not set a battery on top of charger.
DC CONNECTION PRECAUTIONS
1.Connectanddisconnectdcoutputsonlyafterremovingaccordfromelectricoutlet.

WhentheredLEDison,itindicatesthatyourbatteryisdis-
chargedandthe2612Aisrechargingatthe"BULK"rate(stage1).
This charging rate is 10 Amps.
WhiletheredLEDison,thevoltagemeasured(withthecharger
on)willbeapproximately11.5to13.5Volts.
IftheredLEDstaysonformorethan24hours,refertoProblem1
in the troubleshooting section in this manual.
WhenboththegreenandtheredLED’sareon,itischargingat
the"Finishing"rate(stage2).Duringthissecondchargingstage,
thechargerholdsthebatteryvoltageatapproximately14.3VDC,
andthengraduallyreducestheamountofcurrent(Amps)itdeliv-
ers to the battery. By doing this, the battery is able to “absorb”
the last 10% of charge as quickly as possible without becoming
overheated.
IfbothLED’sstayonlongerthan24hours,refertoProblem2in
the troubleshooting section in this manual.
When the battery approaches full charge, the charger switches
into its third charging stage, gradually reducing the current fed to
the batteries to as low as 0.1 Amps. At the same time, it reduces
itsoutputvoltagetoa“Float”or“Ready”chargingrateofap-
proximately13.3VDC,indicatedbythegreenLEDlight.Thislow
"Float"or“Maintenance”voltagegently“topsoff”yourbatteries,
keeping them fully charged and ready until needed. The green
LEDindicatesthatyourbatteriesarenowfullychargedandready
for use.
IfthegreenLEDstaysonwhenyourbatteryisknowntobelow,
refer to Problem 3 in the troubleshooting section in this manual.

8.Utiliser un chargeur pour charger une batterie d’accumulateurs au plomb, AGM ou gel

CHOISIR L’EMPLACEMENT DU CHARGEUR
1.Lechargeurdoitavoiraumoinshuitpoucesdedégagementsurtouslescôtésde
l’unitépourunrefroidissementefficace.Leboîtierdecechargeurdeviendrachaudlors
dufonctionnement.Puisquelechargeurestrefroidiparconvection(circulationd’airpar
l’arrièreduchargeur)lapositiondemontageoptimaleduchargeurestverticale.Le
monter sur son dos sur une surface horizontale peut diminuer légèrement la sortie
d’ampérageduchargeuràcausedelaprotectionthermiqueintégrée.Nepasinstallerle
chargeursurdessurfacesrecouvertesdetapis,detissuoudevernis.
2.Placer le chargeur aussi loin que possible de la batterie autant que les câbles CC le
permettent.
3.Nejamaisplacerlechargeurdirectementsurlabatteriequiestchargée;lesgazdela
