WELCOME to the Hergóm range.
We would like to thank you for choosing our Hergóm
cooker, mod. L-08 cooker, which represents, in technique
and style, a significant improvement on classical coal and
log cookers.
We are sure that your new cooker will prove fully
satisfactory, which is the most outstanding feature of our
equipment.
Owning a Hergóm model displays an exceptional sense of
quality.
Please read this manual in full. Its purpose is to familiarise
users with their cookers by explaining extremely useful
installation, operational and maintenance instructions. Keep
this manual at hand for future reference whenever
necessary. If, after reading this manual, you should require
any extra clarification, please consult your regular dealer or
call the factory directly.
IMPORTANT WARNING: If the cooker is not installed
correctly, it will not provide the excellent service for which
it has been designed. Please read these instructions in full
and trust the work to a specialist.

I.- INTRUDUCTION
There are two CCE L-08 cooker
models. One features a highly
resistant cast iron and carefully
polished grey hob, framed in an
enamelled cast iron chassis and the
other features a glass ceramic hot
framed in an enamelled chassis with
a cast iron plate inside.
The capacity of the fireplace can be
adjusted by altering the height of
the grill by means of an endless
screw mechanism. This system can
be activated by means of a lever
found on the inside of the ash pan
cover (Fig. 1).
The front part of the cooker,
columns, log cover and ash pan
cover are made of cast iron,
enamelled in glass fired porcelain
and the hinges are made of polished
brass in the cast iron hob version. In
the glass ceramic hob version the
hinges are chromed.
The steel plate side sections are
enamelled and combine with the
front and the doors.
The cast iron hob version comes
with an insulated hob cover made of
steel plate with glass porcelain
enamel and an insulating material
inside.
While the cooker is in use but it is
not being used to prepare food, the
cover may be lowered to prevent
the loss of heat, if the cooker
temperature is not too high. When
working at full power, we
recommend lifting the cover to
avoid any possible damage to the
enamel.
IMPORTANT: Use a damp cloth and
soapy water to clean all enamel parts
and then dry. Don not use strong
detergents or abrasive products with
acid components that may damage
the enamel.

II.- ASSEMBLY-ACCESSORIES
ASSEMBLING THE HAND RAIL
The supports will come with the bolt
in and only have to tightened to the
base.
Left support: introduce, turn
clockwise. When it reaches the limit
it will be horizontal, with the round
part facing out. Hold the support in
place and tighten the screw on the
corner section (fig 1 and 2).
Right support: introduce, turn
clockwise and when ½ turn is left
before reaching the limit, place
obliquely with the round part facing
down and out (fig 2 and 3).
Handrail: introduce in the left
support and place on the right
support (figure 3). Turn the right
hand support clockwise and
introduce the handrail, then place it
horizontally (fig. 4). Hold the
support and tighten the screw on
the corner.

V.- INSTRUCTIONS OF USE
Do not use as fuel wood from the sea; salts contained in it react in the combustion
releasing acids that damage the cast iron and the steel plate.
Every cooker comes with a number
of tools, such as a poker to liven the
fire and move the rings, as well as a
scraper to clean the ash pan and the
smoke outlet via the soot cover,
located below the oven.
Before lighting the cooker, please
check that the smoke conduit is
perfectly clean in order to obtain
appropriate draw.
When lighting the cooker, close the
hearth door, open the primary air
valve located on the ash cover and,
if necessary, open the said cover.
If the chimney is cold and the
chimney effect low, you may
introduce papers in the cleaning
hatch on the wall above the cooker.
Once lighted, regulate the cooker by
means of the primary air valve
located on the ash and log cover.
Take into account that excessive
draw will lead to greater coal or
wood consumption and to the
overheating of the hob. The hob
must never reach red-hot
temperatures.
The fuel load must not exceed 50%
of the hearth capacity. Do not leave
the hearth or ash covers open.

25
Do not place wood or coal near the
door in order not to damage the
enamel finish on the front.
Cleaning should be performed when
the cooker is cold using slightly
soapy water and damp cloths for
the enamel parts. Avoid using
strong detergents, acid or abrasive
products or any other product that
may damage the enamel. Once
deteriorated, the enamel cannot be
repaired.
Always control oven temperature by
means of the thermometer installed
on the door. If the temperature
reaches 250ºC (yellow area of the
thermometer) do not add more fuel;
close the air intake valve on the ash
pan cover and, if necessary, open
the log cover to slow down
combustion.
The excessive temperature of the
cooker - oven temperature in excess
of 300 ºC (red area on the
thermometer) –may damage the
hob.
Food will take less time to prepare if
the pots, pans and other utensils
used have perfectly flat bases.
Lighting for the first time.
When lighting the hearth for the
first time we recommend a slow fire
for 3 to 4 hours. This will help
stabilise the different components
and avoid any possible breakages.
Capacity of the fireplace.
For burning coal and wood. The
capacity of the fireplace can be
regulated by the grill elevator, which
is operated by means of an endless
screw device accessed through the
ash pan cover.
ENVELOPING DRAW FOR
BOILER (Fig. 1)
Recommended for heating the hob
partially. Maximum heating.
DIRECT DRAW (Fig 2)
Recommended when lighting the
cooker and/or heating the hob.
Normal heating.
ENVELOPING DRAW FOR OVEN
(Fig. 3)
Recommended for the oven and the
hob. Normal heating.

VI.- SAFETY
A number of possible risks are
present when operating your solid
fuel cooker with fuel of any brand.
The said risks can be minimised if
the instructions and
recommendations included in this
manual are followed.
Below, we shall recommend some
rules and advice but, above all else,
we recommend common sense.
1. Keep any flammable
material (curtains,
clothes...) away from
cooker, at a minimum
safety distance of 0.90 m.
2. Protect nearby furniture
with heat resistant
materials on the hob and
smoke outlet.
3. Leave a 50 mm. gap
between furniture and the
sides of the cooker for air
to flow through.
4. Ash should be emptied
into a metal container and
immediately removed
from the house.
5. Do not use flammable
liquids to light the cooker.
6. Keep any type of
flammable liquid (petrol,
alcohol...) away from the
cooker.
7. Inspect the chimney
occasionally and clean
whenever necessary.
8. Do not place the cooker
near walls that may catch
fire easily or that have
some type of lining that
may be damaged or
deformed by temperature
(varnish, paint, PVC...).
