Never push the equipment beyond its design limits. If it
will not do what you want with reasonable ease and speed,
assume you have the wrong equipment for the job. Contact
HSS Hire for advice.
Keep the equipment clean - you will find this less of a
chore if you clean it regularly, rather than wait until the end
of the hire period.
Always after job replace the filters.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere
clean, dry and secure.
EQUIPMENT CARE
FINISHING OFF
Turn the unit OFF before unplugging the unit.
Unplug the unit, and neatly coil the flex. Remove the
filters and give the unit a final clean up ready for return,
to HSS Hire.
To change filters, with a 3/8" wrench, loosen the 8
latches holding the inlet panel in place.
Slide the latches outward, away from the center of the
inlet panel.
Remove the inlet panel and replace used filters.
MULTI-POSITIONAL
You can stack and operate up to two Air
Scrubbers vertically. The handle of one unit
fits into bottom of another unit. You can also
stack them horizontally for space-saving
storage, or operate a unit with its outlet
facing upward.

The hirer has a responsibility to ensure that all
necessary risk assessments have been completed prior
to the use of this equipment.
This equipment should only be used by an operator
who has been deemed competent to do so by his/her
employer.
This equipment should be used by an able bodied,
competent adult who has read and understood these
instructions. Anyone with either a temporary or permanent
disability, should seek expert advice before using it.
Keep children, animals and bystanders away from the
work area. Cordon off a NO GO area using cones and
either barriers or tape, available for hire from HSS Hire.
Never use this equipment if you are ill, feeling
tired, or under the influence of alcohol or
drugs.
Take all necessary precautions to protect yourself and
others against the possibility of contracting infectious
diseases in your work environment.
A suitable mask must be worn by any person
operating this equipment. Powered respiratory
protective equipment is available for hire, contact HSS Hire
for advice.
Always switch OFF and unplug the equipment when not
in use.
Do not work near flammable gases or liquids, petrol or
paint thinner fumes for example. Keep combustible
materials at a safe distance – at least 5m.
Make sure you know how to switch this machine OFF
before you switch it ON in case you get into difficulty.
Make sure that anyone in the immediate work area is
warned of what you are doing.
Check the condition of the equipment before use. If it
shows signs of damage or excessive wear, return it to HSS
Hire.
In a containment area, turn off all sources of power to
open combustion appliances such as fireplaces, boilers,
furnaces, etc. to avoid the risk of backdrafting deadly
carbon monoxide fumes. For more information contact HSS

Always switch off before removing the plug.
Always when unplugging pull the plug, not the supply
cable.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, always use a
suitable RCD (Residual Current-Operated Device)
available from HSS Hire. Or power the equipment from a
mains circuit with a built in RCD.
Ensure the machine and power socket are switched OFF
before plugging into the power supply.
Never use a water hose or pressure washer to clean
electrical components. Water could enter the electrical
compartment causing a shock hazard.
GETTING STARTED
HSS Air Scrubber is a portable filtration system that
draws air in from the surrounding environment and
passes it through an advanced filtration system. The
unit removes airborne particles like dust, mold spores,
pollen, pet dander and miscellaneous debris.
Never use the air scrubber until you have fully read and
understood this User Guide and the machine has been
properly set up using the information it contains.
The Air Scrubber utilizes a 2-stage
filtration system. The first stage
utilizes a pre-filter, and the second a
filter. The pre-filter captures larger
particles, and the filter captures
99.97% of smaller particles down to
0.3 microns.
For environments with a high
volume of aerosolized particles, you
can use 2 pre-filters to extend the
life of the filter.
MOLD REMEDIATION
In most cases, the remediation process requires
containment of the affected area.
Containment prevents the spread of mold spores and other
bioaerosols. Only a professional with specialized training in
remediation and containment techniques should use the
Air Scrubber (or any negative air machine) for remediation.
Unwrap the cord wrap completely.
Place the Air Scrubber upright with handle at the top.
Plug the device in to a standard 230 volt outlet. Make sure
the power switch is set to OFF. Each device needs 1.5
amps to operate.
To switch the unit on, locate the control
panel and turn the variable speed
switch clockwise to start the unit. Then
select either a maximum or down to a
minimum airflow rate.
Note: Note that the MAX setting is located immediately
left of the OFF button, and the MIN setting requires an
almost 360 degree clockwise turn.
When the change light illuminates you must change the
filter.
To prevent cross-contamination you should replace the
filter after every job. Before replacing the filters also to
avoid cross-contamination clean the unit thoroughly.
Pay particular attention to the area around the air
intake. Let the unit dry before installing clean filters. Air

The HSS Air Scrubber plugs into a standard 230V 13amp
power socket.
If the equipment fails, or if its power supply cable or plug
becomes damaged, return it. Never try to repair it yourself.
Keep cables out of harm’s way, and clear of the work area.
Extension leads should be fully unwound and loosely
coiled, away from the equipment. Never run them through
water, over sharp edges or where they could trip someone.
Always remove the plug from the powe socket before
undertaking any type of intervention on the air
