GettingStartedinfoureasysteps
Your tracker comes with your SIM pre-installed. We also typically ship ThePaw with some charge, but
please charge it prior to first use.
1. Charge ThePaw
Take the USB clip charger supplied and plug
the USB end into a computer or phone charger
Next open the clip on the reverse of ThePaw,
by tugging on the protruding tab; at the end
nearest the two tightening screws.
Then look for the 2 small pin head contact
holes on the reverse of ThePaw and attach the
charging clip, as per this picture:
Note: When the battery is completely flat ThePaw will take up to 4 minutes before four white
lights (the paws on the front of the device) illuminate, indicating that charging has begun.
Once the device is charging, both the
blue and red lights will flash together
about once a second, but once charging
has reached 100% the red paw light will
remain on, whilst the blue light will
continue to slowly flash. You can also
open the app and see the battery
charge state in the top right corner of
the main app screen.
2. Download the App or use the website
We recommend downloading the free iPhone or Android app from the appropriate app stores below:
Android tracking app
Open Google Play and search AnyTracking GPS Tracker App
iPhone tracking app
Open App Store and search AnyTracking
You can alternatively login to the tracking website at https://www.HugMy.pet/tracking

4
HugMy.petThePaw
3. Login to the app (or website)
Open the app (or tracking
website) and enter your unique
10 digit tracking number which
you’ll locate on the tag on the
rear of ThePaw device.
The initial password is always set
to: 123456
Then press Log in.
We strongly recommend updating
your password by clicking
Settings / Change password.
4. Check your Time Zone
We usually ship the device with
the time zone set for your
location.
You must let the App know our
time zone is the UK (or wherever
you live), otherwise you might be
shocked to discover that your pet
lab is somewhere in China (or
whichever time zone is setup).
So, in the app, head for Settings,
then Soft Time zone: and set
(UTC) Dublin, Edinburgh,
London.
If you are using the tracking
website then having logged in,
click Change Password in the top
right corner.

AttachingThePawtoyourpet
The clip on the reverse of ThePaw is durable and
makes it easy to attach the tracker to your pet.
As described in Charge ThePaw (above), the pull
tab on the reverse bottom side of ThePaw can be
lifted to open the clasp. Releasing the clip takes a
little positive force which is to ensure that your pet
doesn’t inadvertently shake ThePaw loose.
Methods of attachment
Depending on the thickness of your pet’s collar, you may either attach ThePaw directly onto the collar or
simply use the clip to thread through any key ring tag – for example it can share the same ring as is used
for the pet’s identity tag.
If the clip ever becomes loose, then there are two small screws at the end of the clip which may be
tightened with a small screwdriver.
TurningThePawonandoff
Charging ThePaw turns it on automatically. At other times you can turn ThePaw on and off as follows:
Switching on ThePaw
Hold the POWER key (located on the front centre in the middle of the large paw pad) for up to 7 seconds.
When you release the button four white (paw) lights on the front of ThePaw will shine brightly for a moment.
ThePaw is now switched on.
Switching off ThePaw
Whilst already powered-on, press the POWER button on the front of ThePaw 3 times in a row quickly, the
front (paw) blue and red lights flash fast 3 times and then the device shuts down.

7
HugMy.petThePaw
What do the various indicator lights mean?
ThePaw is able to cleverly tell you what’s going on, so keep this handy table in mind:
Paw lights whilst charging up:
Light colour Function
4 white paw lights Switching on
Blue and red paw lights flashing togethe
r

r
second ThePaw is charging.
Red light constantly on, whilst blue light slowly flashes ThePaw is fully charged.
Normal operation once charged and switched on:
Light colour Function Slow flash Fast flash
Blue paw light GPS indicato
r
Searching Found
Red paw light Mobile signal indicato
r
Searching Found
The above means that when ThePaw is switched on you will see occasionally flashes of the blue and red
paw lights. The frequency at which they flash is dependent on how often you have the device set to report
your pet’s location. This can range from every 30 seconds, through 10 and 60 minutes.
The table above shows that when you see both lights flash on and off very quickly, both GPS and mobile
signal (GMS) have been found. A quick flash of the red light indicates the mobile signal has been found,
whilst a quick flash of the blue light shows the satellite (GPS) signal has been found.
It’s quite normal that indoors the red light may flash quickly, whilst the blue light displays only a slow flash.
This is because your roof may well prevent a satellite signal from being picked up. Once outside, both lights
will flash quickly as both phone and satellite signals are acquired.
Night time operation:
Light colour Function
4 paw lights with rolling colours (green, white, red, blue) Helps locate your pet at night
You’ll only see this night light effect if you have the option switched on under the Sensor lights option in
Settings. We recommend keeping this function switched off to conserve power, but if your pet has gone
missing, just use the app interface to switch night location lights on.

HugMy.petThePaw
Gettingtoknowtheapp
It’s advisable to spend a few minutes setting up the App to suit your circumstances. It isn’t complicated and
will make your experience with ThePaw all the more enjoyable and useful, should your pet go missing.
Login to your App and you’ll find the following buttons:
Real-time tracking: This is where you go to locate your missing pet. You will
see a screen and map displaying the latest available time and location for your
pet. The accuracy of the location will depend on whether the pet is indoors or
outside, with a clear line of site for the GPS providing the most accurate
location.
Historical route: Display the historical route that your pet has taken over a
given period of time up to 90 days (approximately 3 months). You can choose
whether to filter out Location Based Data (or LBS). This is often a good idea
because LBS is typically indoor data which can display a high degree of error if
measured only by mobile signal, rather than WiFi too.
Geofence: Add, check or cancel Geofence area. This is the roaming limit(s)
that you have defined for your pet. ThePaw allows you set as many boundaries
as required and you can receive an alert if your pet has breached the
boundaries. Note: We suggest the radius of Geofence should be over 100
metres to reduce false alarms.
Wifi Fence: You can also set up to 3 WiFi safe zones. By letting the App know
which is your home WiFi network, you can build a better virtual fence. This
method is less susceptible to the vagaries of mobile GMS locating. Your pet is
either within your WiFi zone or is not and you can be alerted as such.
Alarm list: This button very simply enables you to look back to see which
alarms have been set off. This is where you’ll be able to view a Low battery
alarm or ThePaw being offline, for example.
Remind setting: Here you will find three options as follows:
Turn on the alarm reminder of APP
Ringtones remind by mobile phone
Vibration alert by mobile phone.
We recommend leaving all these settings to ON.
Logout. Needless to say, this logs ThePaw out of the app. Who knew 😉

HugMy.petThePaw
OtherAppsettings
Now click the Settings button in the middle of the main App screen
for mostly one-time set-up options.
Next click the Settings icon and you’ll be presented with the following screen:
NOTE: In order to change these
settings ThePaw must be online and
connected. This is because changes
that you make on this Settings page
are instantly communicated with the
ThePaw itself.
Let’s run through the various
settings. Most are one time options,
but you will want to return here if
you ever lose your pet.
About the device
Check and edit information about ThePaw. You can ignore most of these settings which are informational
only, but it is worth naming your Paw after your pet in order to personalise it. To do this, click on the pencil
icon in the top right hand corner and then under Device name, enter your pet’s name – for example:
Rufus Bear ThePaw Blue (we recommend using the name of your own pet, rather than our Managing
Director).
You can leave the remainder of the settings, but don’t forget to click the disk icon on the top right to save
your pet’s name change.

10
HugMy.petThePaw
Change password
The initial password is 123456 and that’s how it will stay unless you change it. Although it’s tricky for
someone else to know how to login to your Paw because they’d need to know it’s number, we still
recommend changing the password to something you’re comfortable with. Just make sure you can
remember it too.
Interval for uploading location data
This is a really important setting, particularly to preserve battery when you haven’t lost your pet. That’s
most of the time we hope! We cover this setting in detail in the Setting up the app to preserve battery life
section.
Main monitoring number
The master phone number to be used in order to send commands to ThePaw and to receive alarms. This
sounds kind of important we know, but in reality you’ll most likely be using the App to both send commands
(that’s what you’re doing in these settings) and receive alarms, including notifying you that your pet has
escaped. So you don’t need to set a main monitoring number unless you only plan to use the tracking
website rather than the App.
That said, there’s no harm done in entering the best contact number for you – a mobile is preferable – so
go ahead and pop it in the space provided.
The SOS list and Phonebook
You can ignore both these settings which are designed for future features.
Sensor lights
Used to help find your pet at night. Initially set to Off and see this covered in detail under Setting up the app
to preserve battery life section.
Alarm mode
Provides a variety of different ways to receive alerts from ThePaw. We recommend selecting SMS and
Platform Alarm. That way, you’ll receive notifications on your phone via the App and also via SMS (text).
Useful, for example, for you letting you know that ThePaw battery will need recharging soon.
Soft Time zone
Essentially setting. You must set it to your local time for ThePaw to work properly. We have covered this in
detail in Step 4 of the Getting Started in four easy steps section.
Device Language and timezone
Unless you speak Chinese and none of our management team at HugMy.pet does, we suggest leaving this
set to English. Don’t enter anything under Timezone, it’s already taken care of in the Soft Time zone setting
above.
Remote reboot
Does what it says on the packet and there shouldn’t be any reason for you to need to do this remotely. It’s
there in case someone in Professor Winie Wilder’s tech team at HugMy.pet support asks you to use it.
Ignore for now.
Remote power-off
We had an office competition to dream up scenarios when you might want to use this function. It does
exactly what you’d expect and switches off ThePaw. But once you’ve done that there’s no way to remotely
wake it up again.
At a scrape, we’d say you could use it if you were lying in bed, meant to put your Paw on charge that night.
Didn’t. And now want to conserve power in order to eek out another day of use. Or you could just go find
your pet and put ThePaw on charge… you lazy dog.

HugMy.petThePaw
Settinguptheapptopreservebatterylife
It’s advisable to spend a few minutes setting up the App to suit your circumstances. It isn’t complicated and
these instructions will lead you through the process. It will pay you back to have followed them, both in
terms of battery life between charges and getting the most from ThePaw.
Having first covered the set-up steps mentioned in Getting Started in four easy steps, you can follow-up
with these app setting tweaks:
Login to the App and click on Settings:
Click on Interval for uploading location data

12
HugMy.petThePaw
Select 12 hour Power saving mode.
If you discover that your pet has gone
missing, then simply return to this setting
and select the fastest update of 1 minute to
pin-point his or her exact location.
Essentially, there’s no point reporting back
your pet’s location when he or she is right
by your side, but beauty of ThePaw is your
ability to communicate with it, even when
you don’t know where your pet happens to
be. This means you can increase
communication feedback as and when you
need it, saving battery in the meantime.
For ultra-power-saving (longest possible
battery life), select 12 hours power saving
positioning.
Next click on Sensor lights
A fantastic feature of ThePaw is the ability
to switch on sensor lights. This will light up
the 4 ‘paw’ lights on the device and can be
very useful for finding your pet outside at
night.
However, head to this feature under
Settings / Sensor lights and turn it off for
now.
As and when your pet goes missing, simply
fire up the app and go to Settings / Sensor
lights and switch on this feature. The
beauty of ThePaw is that you’re in
communication with it, so you can add this
feature as and when you need it, rather
than draining the battery the rest of the
time.
Finally, unless you’re using it to show off ThePaw to your pals, or you have actually lost your pet, don’t
keep the App or website open unnecessarily. When you do, it will have a tendency to ‘ping’ ThePaw
periodically, meaning the ThePaw will need to use up some energy to respond. Just let it do its thing and
check in when you actually need to know the whereabouts of your pet.

Here at HugMy.pet we sincerely hope that you never need to use ThePaw. In fact we must have one of the
few products in the world where we don’t actually want you to ever need it. Losing your pet can be an
incredibly stressful experience – just ask anyone who has had to plaster their neighbourhood in the vain
attempt to locate their much-loved, but missing, pet.
That said, we also know that the peace of mind you’ll experience when your pet is wearingThePaw is

HugMy.petThePaw
Whattodoifyouloseyourdog?
We hope that you never need to actually use this page, but if you have lost your dog then these are the
straightforward steps to follow in order to use ThePaw in order to retrieve your pet.
1. Login to the app (or website)
Your first step is to login to your phone app using the Device ID of ThePaw.
Two quick tips:
(a) If you for whatever reason you don’t have the app downloaded then refer to Page 3 of
this manual for download instructions from the relevant app store. Or to track your pet
online see www.HugMy.pet/tracking. We recommend using the app.
(b) You should have already noted down your Paw Device ID on Page 2, but if you’ve lost
the ID then contact www.HugMy.pet/contact-us with your name and email address used
to purchase ThePaw and we will be able to retrieve your ID for you.
2. Change ‘Interval for uploading location data’
If you’ve followed our battery preserving instructions on Page 11, then you will want to ensure that
ThePaw now uploads your pet’s position much more frequently. Click on Settings / Interval for
uploading location data. Select ‘1 minute fast positioning’ from the drop down list.
A message will be sent to ThePaw, which will respond with ‘Success!’ so you know that the
positioning is now going to happen far more regularly.
3. Proceed to the Real-time map
Now click on the ‘Real-time’ button within the app to display a map. Assuming that you have mobile
or WiFi coverage (where you’re actually standing), your phone will now display your position and
(after a minute or two) a first take on where your dog is located.
Note that the position report for your pet may initially jump around as an exact satellite fix is made.
The precise amount of time will depend on the ‘sleep’ mode that ThePaw was previously in, as well
as the line of site from the satellites to your pet. This can take a few minutes to become entirely
correct. After this time and with a good line of site, accuracy will close in to 10 or 15 metres.
Do note that the map itself shows a refresh period (perhaps every 15 seconds), but that this is not
the same as getting the Interval for uploading location data correctly set (from 12 hours down to 1
minute fast poisoning).
