MEGA LIVE SHAFT MOUNT Installation Guide
Following are instructions for the installation of this accessory. Before you start installation,
we encourage you to read these instructions carefully in order to get the full benefit from your
Humminbird® accessory.
NOTE: For more information about the installation of your MEGA Live Imaging transducer, see the
installation guide that was included with your transducer or visit our Web site at humminbird.

Installation Preparation
Read the instructions in this guide completely to understand the mounting
guidelines before beginning the installation.
Supplies: In addition to the hardware supplied with your accessory, you will need a
bit driver.
Your trolling motor or your MEGA Live Universal should be in the fully retracted (flat)
position on the boat deck for this installation.
Disconnect Power: For installation on a trolling motor, disconnect the trolling motor
from all sources of electrical power before you start the installation.

Installation Overview
1|Install the Landscape Mode Mount
Use the following instructions to install the Landscape Mode mount onto the transducer.
1. The Landscape Mode mount should be open for this step of the installation. Unlock the mount by
pressing down on the two release buttons, and pull the mount open. It will relock automatically
once fully opened.
2. For installation on a trolling motor, determine if the transducer will be installed on the left or
right side of the trolling motor. (For installation on a MEGA Live Universal, proceed to Step 1.3.)
If the trolling motor stows on the right (starboard) side of the boat, you will mount the
transducer on the right side of the trolling motor.
If the trolling motor stows on the left (port) side of the boat, you will mount the transducer on
the left side of the trolling motor.
3. With the transducer face down and its cables pointed away from you, determine how the
Landscape Mode mount should align with the transducer.
Trolling Motor Installation Recommended Configuration: Align the mount with the hinge on
the left for a Port installation or on the right for a Starboard installation (see the illustration
Positioning the Landscape Mode Mount).
MEGA Live Universal Recommended Configuration: Align the mount with the hinge on the right
(see the illustration Positioning the Landscape Mode Mount).
NOTE: Your transducer will flip up for landscape mode when installed in the Recommended
Configuration. If you prefer to flip your transducer down for landscape mode, use the Optional
Configuration.
Optional Configuration: For installation on a trolling motor, align the mount with the hinge
on the right for a Port installation or on the left for a Starboard installation. For installation
on a MEGA Live Universal, align the mount with the hinge on the left. See the illustration
Positioning the Landscape Mode Mount.

4. Connect the Landscape Mode mount to the transducer according to your Recommended or
Optional configuration.
The ratchets are keyed. The ribs on the Landscape Mode mount ratchet should align with the
marks on your transducer.

5. Secure the Landscape Mode mount to the transducer with one of the included lock washers and
1/4-28 screws, using the provided 1/8" hex bit and a bit driver. Hand tighten the screw until the
lock washer is fully compressed (see the illustration Compressing the Lock Washer), and then
tighten an additional 1/4 turn. Hand tighten only!
WARNING! The screw and lock washer MUST be fully tightened. Failure to do so may result in
the transducer detaching from the Landscape Mode mount in the water.

2|Install the Shaft Mount
1. Fold the Landscape Mode mount back down using the release buttons.
2. For installation on an Ultrex or Fortrex trolling motor or on a MEGA Live Universal, secure the
included small rubber pads to the inside of the shaft mount as shown in the illustration Shaft
Mount Rubber Pad Placement. Remove the backing from the pads and press the adhesive sides
firmly into place against the shaft mount.
For installation on an Ultrex QUEST trolling motor, rubber pads are not needed. Proceed to
Step 3.
3. Align the keys on the shaft mount and the Landscape Mode mount to connect them.

4. Secure the shaft mount with one of the included lock washers and 1/4-28 screws, using the provided
1/8" hex bit and a bit driver. Hand tighten the screw until the lock washer is fully compressed (see
the illustration Compressing the Lock Washer), and then tighten an additional 1/4 turn. Hand
tighten only!
WARNING! The screw and lock washer MUST be fully tightened. Failure to do so may result in
the Landscape Mode mount detaching from the shaft mount in the water.
5. Rotate the shaft mount until it is aligned vertically with the transducer.
3|Install the Shaft Clamp
WARNING! For installation on a trolling motor, disconnect the motor from all sources of electrical
power before you start installation.
WARNING! Confirm that your trolling motor or your universal mount is properly secured to the boat and
will not shift during the installation.
1. Your trolling motor or your universal mount shaft should be in the fully retracted (flat) position on
the boat deck for this installation.
2. For installation on a trolling motor, disconnect the motor from all sources of electrical power.
3. For installation on an Ultrex or Fortrex trolling motor or on a MEGA Live Universal, secure the
included large rubber pad to the inside of the shaft clamp as shown in the illustration Shaft Clamp
Rubber Pad Placement. Remove the backing from the pad and press the adhesive side firmly into
place against the shaft clamp.
For installation on an Ultrex QUEST trolling motor, rubber pads are not needed. Proceed to Step 4.
4. For installation on a trolling motor: With the trolling motor stowed, align the shaft mount and
shaft clamp around the base of the trolling motor shaft.
Optional: The transducer can be installed farther up the trolling motor shaft if desired.
For installation on a MEGA Live Universal: Align the shaft mount and shaft clamp around the shaft
so that the mount is approximately one inch above the bottom of the shaft.
5. Secure the shaft clamp to the shaft mount by installing the (4) #10-32 screws into the threaded
holes on the clamp using the provided 5/32" Allen wrench. Do not fully tighten.
6. For installation on a trolling motor: Rotate the MEGA Live Imaging transducer around the shaft
until it is parallel with the lower unit of the trolling motor (see Aligning the Transducer (Trolling
Motor)). This ensures the transducer is pointing in the same direction as the trolling motor.
For installation on a MEGA Live Universal: With the MEGA Live transducer in Forward Mode, rotate
the transducer around the shaft until the transducer's pinging element faces away from the
universal mount's handle (see Aligning the Transducer (MEGA Live Universal)).

7. Fully tighten the screws until the transducer cannot be moved on the shaft. Hand-tighten only!

Maintenance
If your transducer remains in the water for long periods of
time, slush, algae and other marine growth can reduce the
effectiveness of the transducer. Periodically clean the face
of the transducer with a mild, marine-safe and plastic-safe
soap or solution.
If your transducer remains out of the water for a long
period of time, it may take some time to wet the transducer
after it is returned to the water. Small air bubbles can cling
to the surface of the transducer and interfere with proper
operation. These bubbles will dissipate with time, or you may
wipe the face of the transducer with your fingers after the
transducer is in the water.

Voici les instructions pour l'installation de cet accessoire. Avant de commencer l'installation, nous vous
encourageons à lire attentivement ces instructions afin de tirer pleinement parti de votre accessoire
Humminbird.

Préparation de l’installation

Présentation de l'installation
1|Installation du support en mode paysage
Suivez les instructions suivantes pour installer le support en mode paysage sur le transducteur.
1. Le support en mode paysage doit être ouvert pour cette étape de l’installation. Déverrouillez le
support en appuyant sur les deux boutons de dégagement et en tirant sur le support pour l’ouvrir.
Il se verrouillera de nouveau et automatiquement une fois complètement ouvert.
2. Pour une installation sur un propulseur électrique, déterminez si le transducteur sera installé à
gauche ou à droite du propulseur électrique. (Pour une installation sur un MEGA Live Universal,
passez à l'étape 1.3.)
Si le propulseur électrique est arrimé sur le côté droit (tribord) du bateau, vous installerez le
transducteur sur le côté droit du propulseur électrique.
Si le propulseur électrique est arrimé sur le côté gauche (bâbord) du bateau, vous installerez le
transducteur sur le côté gauche du propulseur électrique.
3. Avec la face du transducteur vers le bas et ses câbles orientés loin de vous, déterminez comment
le support en mode paysage devrait s’aligner avec le transducteur.
Configuration recommandée pour l'installation sur un propulseur électrique : Alignez le support
avec la charnière à gauche pour une installation à bâbord ou à droite pour une installation à tribord
(référez- vous à l’illustration Positionnement du support en mode paysage).
Configuration recommandée pour l'installation sur un MEGA Live Universal : Alignez le support avec
la charnière à droite (référez-vous à l’illustration Positionnement du support en mode paysage).
REMARQUE : Votre transducteur basculera vers le haut pour le mode paysage lorsqu’il sera
installé selon la configuration recommandée. Si vous préférez basculer votre transducteur vers
le bas pour le mode paysage, utilisez la Configuration Optionnelle.
Configuration Optionnelle: Pourl'installation surun propulseurélectrique, alignez le support
avec la charnière à droite pour une installation à bâbord ou à gauche pour une installation à
tribord. Pour l'installation sur un MEGA Live Universal, Alignez le support avec la charnière à
gauche. Référez-vous à l’illustration Positionnement du support en mode paysage.

4. Raccordez le support en mode paysage au transducteur selon votre Configuration Recommandée
ou Optionnelle.
Les cliquets sont clavetés. Les nervures qui sont sur le cliquet du support en mode paysage
doivent s’aligner avec les marques présentes sur le transducteur.

5. Fixez le support Mode paysage au transducteur avec l’une des rondelles de blocage et les vis 1/4-
28 incluses à l’aide de l'embout hexagonal 1/8" fourni et un tournevis. Serrez la vis à la main jusqu’à
ce que la rondelle de blocage soit complètement comprimée (voir l’illustration Compression de
la rondelle de blocage), puis serrez 1/4 de tour supplémentaire. Les serrer à la main seulement!
AVERTISSEMENT ! La vis et la rondelle de blocage DOIVENT être complètement serrées. Le
non-respect de cette consigne peut entraîner le détachement du transducteur du support
Mode paysage dans l’eau.

2|Installation du support d’arbre
1. Repliez le support en mode paysage vers le bas à l’aide des boutons de dégagement.
2. Pour l’installation sur un propulseur électrique Ultrex ou Fortrex ou sur un MEGA live Universal,
fixez les petits coussinets en caoutchouc inclus à l’intérieur de l’arbre, comme indiqué dans
l’illustration Placement des coussinets en caoutchouc sur l’arbre. Retirez la pellicule protectrice
des coussinets et appuyez fermement les côtés adhésifs contre l’arbre.
Pour l’installation sur un propulseur électrique Ultrex QUEST, les coussinets en caoutchouc ne
sont pas nécessaires. Passez à l’étape 3.
3. Alignez les clés sur l’arbre et le support du mode paysage pour les connecter.
4. Fixez le support d’arbre avec l’une des rondelles de blocage et les vis 1/4- 28 incluses à l’aide de
l'embout hexagonal 1/8" fourni et un tournevis. Serrez la vis à la main jusqu’à ce que la rondelle
de blocage soit complètement comprimée (voir l’illustration Compression de la rondelle de

AVERTISSEMENT ! La vis et la rondelle de blocage DOIVENT être complètement serrées. Le
non-respect de cette consigne peut entraîner le détachement du transducteur du support
Mode paysage dans l’eau.
5. Faites pivoter le support de l’arbre jusqu’à ce qu’il soit aligné verticalement avec le transducteur.
3|Installation de la bague de serrage
AVERTISSEMENT ! Pour une installation sur un propulseur électrique, déconnecter le moteur de toutes
les sources d’alimentation électrique avant de procéder à l’installation.
AVERTISSEMENT ! S’assurer que le propulseur électrique ou l’arbre de montage universel est
correctement attaché à l’embarcation et qu’il ne se déplacera pas au cours de l’installation.
1. Pour cette installation, le propulseur électrique ou l’arbre de montage universel devrait être en
position complètement rétractée (plate) sur le pont du bateau.
2. Pour une installation sur un propulseur électrique, déconnecter le moteur de toutes les sources
d’alimentation électrique.
3. Pour l’installation sur un propulseur électrique Ultrex ou Fortrex ou sur un MEGA live Universal,
fixez le grand coussinet en caoutchouc inclus à l’intérieur de la bague de serrage, comme illustré
dans l’illustration Positionnement du coussinet en caoutchouc de la bague de serrage. Retirez
la pellicule protectrice du coussinet et appuyez fermement le côté adhésif contre la bague de
serrage.
Pour l’installation sur un propulseur électrique Ultrex QUEST, les coussinets en caoutchouc ne
sont pas nécessaires. Passez à l’étape 4.
4. Pour l'installation sur un propulseur électrique : Lorsque le propulseur électrique est arrimé,
alignez le support de l'arbre et la bague de serrage autour de la base de l'arbre du propulseur
électrique.
Facultatif : Le transducteur peut être installé plus loin sur l’arbre du propulseur électrique si désiré.
Pour l'installation sur un MEGA Live Universal : Alignez le support d'arbre et la bride d'arbre autour
de l'arbre de sorte que le support soit à environ un pouce au-dessus de la partie inférieure de l'arbre.
5. Fixez la bague de serrage au support de l’arbre en installant les (4) vis n°10-32 dans les trous
filetés de la bride à l’aide de la clé Allen de 5/32 po fournie. Ne pas serrer complètement.
6. Pour l'installation sur un propulseur électrique : Faites tourner le transducteur MEGA Live Imaging
autour de l'arbre jusqu'à ce qu'il soit parallèle à l'unité inférieure du propulseur électrique (référez-
vous à l’illustration Alignement du transducteur (propulseur électrique)). Cela garantit que le
transducteur est orienté dans la même direction que le propulseur électrique.
Pour l'installation sur un MEGA Live Universal : Avec le transducteur MEGA Live en mode avant,
faites pivoter le transducteur autour de l'arbre jusqu’à ce que l’élément d’émission d'impulsions
du transducteur soit orienté dans la direction opposée de la poignée du support universel (référez-
vous à l’illustration Alignement du transducteur (MEGA Live Universal)).

7. Serrez complètement les vis jusqu'à ce que le transducteur ne puisse pas être déplacé sur
l'arbre. Les serrer à la main seulement!

Entretien
Si le transducteur demeure à l’eau pendant de longues
périodes, les salissures peuvent réduire l’efficacité du
transducteur. Nettoyez périodiquement la façade du
transducteur avec un savon ou liquide doux et sans danger
pour le plastique et pour le milieu biologique marin.
Si le transducteur est sorti de l’eau pendant une période
prolongée, il faut le laisser reposer un certain temps
après l’avoir remis dans l’eau. De petites bulles d’air
peuvent adhérer à la surface du transducteur et gêner son
fonctionnement. Ces bulles se dissipent avec le temps; vous
pouvez également essuyer la surface du transducteur avec
les doigts après l’avoir remis dans l’eau.
