Introduction
ThisChapterprovidesdetailsoftheiCamera2'sfeatures, componentsand
capabilities.
Overview
TheiCamera2hasanIntegratedMicrocomputerand ahighqualityCMOS Sensor,enabling it
todisplayhighqualitylivestreaming videooveryourwiredLAN, theInternet,and forthe
iCamera2,an802.11NWireless LAN.
UsingenhancedH.264technologies, theiCamera2isabletostream highqualityvideoand
audiodirectlytoyourPC.ThehighcompressioncapabilitiesofH.264 reduce network
bandwidthrequirementstoamazinglylowlevels.
Furthermore,withthebuilt-ininfraredLEDs,theWireless IPcameracanprovideillumination
around5meterslongunderlowlightconditionsinasimple, economicalmanner.
Features
•StandaloneDesign. TheiCamera2isastandalonesystemwithbuilt-inCPUandVideo
encoder. Itrequiresonlyapowersource and aconnectiontoyourLAN orWireless LAN.

•IRLEDsSupport. EachiCamera2hastwoinfraredLEDs. TheLEDs canprovide
illuminationaround5meterslong,thatcanhelptooutputabettervideoqualitywhile
underlow-lightconditionssuchasindoors,oncloudydays, orinthemorning orevening.
•MotionDetection. Thisfeaturecandetectmotioninthefieldof view. TheiCamera2
will compareconsecutiveframestodetectchangescausedbythemovementof large
objects. ThisfunctiononlyworksindoorsduetothesensitivityoftheCMOS sensor.
Whenmotionisdetectionorsomeotheractionmaybetriggered.
•Flexible Scheduling. Youcanlimit access tothevideostream tospecifytimesusing a
flexibleschedulingsystem. TheMotionDetectionfeaturecanalsohaveitsownschedule,
soit isactiveonlywhenrequired.
•Syslog Support. IfyouhaveaSyslogServer,theiCamera2cansenditslogdatatoyour
SyslogServer.
•AudioSupport. Youcanlistenaswell aslook! Audioisencodedwiththevideoif
desired.Withbuilt-inmicrophone,itisusefulforbi-directionvoice conversation.

•NTP (Network-Time-Protocol)Support. NTPallowstheiCamera2tocalibrateits
internalclockfromanInternet Time-Server.ThisensuresthatthetimestamponVideo
fromtheiCamera2willbecorrect.
SecurityFeatures
•UserAuthentication. Ifdesired,access tolivevideocanberestrictedtoknownusers.
Userswill havetoentertheirusernameandpasswordbeforebeingabletoviewthevideo
stream.
•Password-ProtectedConfiguration.Configurationdatacanbepasswordprotected, so
thatitonlycanbechangedbytheiCamera2Administrator.

•Supports11nWirelessStations. The802.11nstandard providesforbackward
compatibilitywiththe802.11bstandard,so802.11n, 802.11b and 802.11g Wireless
stationscanbeusedsimultaneously.
•WiredandWireless NetworkSupport. TheiCamera2supportseitherwiredorwireless
transmission.
•WEPSupport.FullWEPsupport(64/128 Bit)ontheWireless interface isprovided.
•WPA/WPA2Support.TheWPA Personal/WPA2Personalstandardisalsosupported,
allowingadvancedencryptionof wireless data.
•WPSSupport. WPS (Wi-FiProtectedSetup) cansimplifytheprocess ofconnectingany
devicetothewireless networkbyusingthepushbuttonconfiguration(PBC) onthe
iCamera2, orentering aPINcodeifthere'snobutton.

BasicSetup
ThisChapterprovidesdetailsofinstallingandconfiguringtheiCamera2.
SystemRequirements
•TousethewiredLAN interface,astandard10/100BaseThub orswitchandnetworkcable
isrequired.
•TousetheWireless interface onthewireless model, otherWireless devicesmustbe
compliantwiththeIEEE802.11b,IEEE802.11gorIEEE802.11nspecifications.All
Wireless stationsmustusecompatiblesettings.

1. AssembletheCamera
a. Holdthemetalscrewof thestandup.
b. Face thebackof theiCamera2tothestand andturn theiCamera2clockwisetoattach
it tothestand.
2. ConnecttheY-cable
ConnecttheprovidedY-cable(withEthernet)totheLAN portof iCamera2.
Thewireless andwired modes cannotwork
simultaneously.Itisrecommendedto first
configure thewireless settingsofaniCamera2
usingwired mode.After configuration,disconnect
thewire andpower, andpower on theiCamera2
again.Then, itwillbereadyforwireless operation.
3. ConnecttheRouter
UsetheEthernet cabletoconnecttheY-cableandconnecttheotherendtotheLAN port
oftherouter.
4. PowerUp
ConnectthesuppliedpoweradaptertotheY-cableand powerup. Useonlythepower
adapterprovided. Using adifferentonemaycausehardwaredamage.
5. ChecktheLEDs
•The Power LEDwill turnonbriefly, thenstartblinking.Itwillblinkduringstartup, which
takes15to20seconds.Afterstartupiscompleted,the Power LEDshouldremainON.

1. Usinghandstoremovetheplatefromthebottomof thestand.
2. Place theplateinthedesiredpositionof thewall.Screwthreescrewsintoceiling through
theholesof theplate.
3. Attachthestandtotheplate.
4. ConnecttheLAN cableintotheLAN portof thedevice. Turn theiCamera2clockwiseto
attachittothestand.
5. Connecttheotherendof theLAN cabletotheadapterthrough theholesof thestand.

Youcan NOT connecttoacamera viatheInternetunless thecamera
Administratorhas configuredboth thecamera andtheInternetGateway/Router
usedbythecamera.
See MakingVideoavailablefromtheInternet in Chapter4-AdvancedViewingSetup for
detailsof therequiredconfiguration.
Also, youneedabroadbandInternetconnectiontoviewvideoeffectively. Dial-upconnections
areNOTsupported.
ToestablishaconnectionfromyourPCtotheiCamera2viatheInternet:
1. ObtainthefollowinginformationfromtheAdministratorof thecamerayouwishto
connectto:
•Internet IPAddress orDomainNameof thecamera.
•PortnumberforHTTPconnections.
•Login(username,password) ifrequired.
2. StartInternet Explorer.
3. In theAddress box, enterthefollowing:
HTTP://Internet_Address:port_number
Where Internet_Address istheInternet IPaddress orDomainNameof thecamera,
and port_number istheportnumberusedforHTTP(Web)connectionstothecamera.
ExamplesusinganIPaddress:
HTTP://203.70.212.52:1024
WheretheInternetIPaddress is 203.70.212.52 and theHTTPportnumberis 1024.
4. Whenyouconnect,thefollowingscreenwillbedisplayed.
