Installation and Maintenance Instructions

© Intatec Ltd 2022
Introduction
This installation guide has been produced for the IR180CP infra red temperature adjustable
basin taps.
These instructions cover the installation, operation and maintenance. Please read the enclosed
instructions before commencing the installation of this product, please note;
We recommend that the installation of any Inta product is carried out by an
approved installer.
It is recommended, especially in hard water areas, that a water softener such as the ActivFlo or
ActivFlo lite be fitted to reduce the risk of calcium deposits forming.
Products
Infrared thermostatic minimalistic temperature adjustable basin tap,
flexible tails and battery operated IR180CP
Check Components
Before commencing remove all components from packaging and check each component with
the contents list.
Ensure all parts are present, before discarding any packaging. If any parts are missing, do not
attempt to install your Inta electronic tap until the missing parts have been obtained.
Pre-installation Information
Warning
Do not install the tap facing a mirror or any other electronic system operated by an infra red
sensor.
This tap is also vulnerable to stray sensor readings from users wearing high visibility or other
reflective clothing.
To prevent reflection problems, it is recommended to keep a minimum distance of 1.5m
between the tap and other objects.
Preparation for installation
Flush the water supply pipes thoroughly prior to installation. Do not allow debris, PTFE tape or
any metal particles to enter the tap.
Do not expose to temperatures below 5˚C, for example during winter. If the tap will be exposed
to freezing conditions the tap and system should be drained.
Important: All plumbing is to be installed in accordance with applicable codes and
regulations.

Operating Principle
Presence detection
By placing your hands near the sensor, the tap is turn on and water flows from the spout, this
stops as soon as the hands are removed.
On/off
By moving your hands close to the sensor, the tap will start dispensing water.
In order to stop it, move your hands close to the sensor a second time, otherwise it will stop
automatically after one minute.
Installation
1 A service valve and check valve should be installed in the water supply pipes to the valve
should maintenance be required in the future.
2 Turn off the water supply using the service valve (not supplied).
3 Screw the two threaded rods and flexible hoses into the base of the tap.
4 Install the tap to the basin using the sealing and metal horse shoe washers and the two
retaining nuts.
5 The solenoid valve is located inside the tap and does not require fitting.
6 Connect the two flexible hoses to the hot and cold supplies ensuring that the two filter sealing
washers are used.
Max. inlet pressure - static 8 bar
Min. operating pressure - dynamic 1 bar

Connecting the Power Supply
1 Check that the sensor window is clean and that there are no obstructions in front of the
window.
2 The cover is supplied loosely assembled to the tap body and the retaining screws, battery
box and battery are supplied separately.
3 Insert battery into the battery box.
4 Position the battery box into the top of the tap and connect the power cable by pushing the
two connectors together.
5 The LED under the sensor window will start flashing, when it stops the tap is ready for use
5 Fit the cover to the tap body and retain using the two screws.
IMPORTANT:
This product must be installed by a suitably qualified and competent person carrying the
relevant current IEE electrical qualification.

Sensor Range
The sensing range of the tap is pre-set and should not require adjustment.
If needed, users can customise it between 5 and 25 cm approximately.
Remove the top cover of the tap and disconnect the battery box.
Wait for 30 seconds then reconnect the battery box to restore power to sensor.
Immediately place a hand in front of the sensor at a maximum distance of 5 cm with red light
flashing (if it stops flashing remove the power supply again and repeat the whole procedure).
Wait until red light is on constantly and then move your hand to the desired distance.
Wait for the light to turn off before removing your hand to set new range, at this point the new
range is set.
Reducing the Maximum Temperature
If the hot water supply is at a high temperatures, to avoid scalds to the user or for energy saving
reasons it is possible to limit the temperature of the water supplied to the user.
It is recommended that the mixed water temperature is set using a digital thermometer at the
outlet from the tap.
Turn the mixing lever until the desired temperature has been reached.
Once the desired temperature has been reached, remove the lever and the locking ring nut and
reassemble the lever at the new maximum temperature, taking care not to move the position
of the tap, make sure to position the ring fully oriented towards the new setting.
ATTENTION: this procedure mechanically locks the mixing between hot and cold water, but
does not regulate the supply temperature: therefore it does not provide any protection to the
user if the cold water supply is turned off to the tap.
This procedure does not replace the requirement for a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV).
Constant Temperature
The infra red temperature adjustable tap can be
converted to constant temperature operation if
required.
The adjustable temperature lever locates on the
hexagon of the thermostatic cartridge and therefore
can adjust the temperature.
The constant temperature collar has a circular
interior which locates on the corners of the hexagon
and therefore can only rotate on the cartridge.
To convert the tap remove the indice and the retaining
screw.
It is recommended that the mixed water temperature is
set using a digital thermometer at the outlet from the tap.
Turn the mixing lever until the desired temperature has been reached.
Remove the adjustable temperature lever and replace with the constant temperature collar.
Secure with the retaining screw and refit the indice.

Prevention of Flooding
To prevent flooding the wash room following an act of vandalism or carelessness - an object
left in front of the sensor or dirty sensor, the tap has a safety device that shuts off the water flow
after approximately 1 minute.
Once the object has been removed or the sensor cleaned, the tap will start working again.
Aftercare
• Inta taps have a high quality finish and should be treated with care.
• An occasional wipe with a mild washing-up liquid on a soft damp cloth followed by a
thorough rinsing is all that is required.
• Do not use an abrasive or chemical household cleaner as this may cause damage.
• Cleaning the sensor - the darkened window which protects the sensor must always be clean
in order for the tap to operate correctly; do not use abrasive material to avoid damaging the
plastic surface.
• Cleaning the water supply filters - water can contain impurities which could damage the
tap. For this reason the inlet to the flexible hoses has an integral filter which must
be kept clean in order to ensure a suitable water flow.
CAUTION: turn off the water supply using the service valve before unscrewing
the joint to remove the filter gasket for cleaning.
When the batteries are exhausted, the LED blinks continuously and the solenoid valve stops in
the closed position.
To replace the batteries reverse the procedure detailed in ‘Connecting the Power Supply’, fit a
new battery and secure the cover.
Recycle the used battery correctly.
