plug.Intheeventa keyislost,a newkeycanbemadeby
convertingthekeycodenumbertoa keybittingnumber.
Keybittingnumberscanbeobtainedfroma keycutting
machinemanufacturer'scross-referencelistorbycon-
tactingyourZoneoffice.
Ifa keyislostandthekeycodenumberisun-
known,thecorrectnumbercanbeidentifiedbythe
Zoneofficefromthevehicleidentificationnumber.
Iftheignitionkeyislostandthekeycodenumberis
notavailable,a newkeycanbemadebyremovinga
doorlockandtakingittoa locksmith.Thelocksmithcan
determinethekeybittingbyinsertinga blankkeyinto
thelockcylinderandcuttingtheblanktomatchthe
tumblers.
Iftheignitionswitchlockisdefectiveandthekeyis
available,thecylinderandindividualtumblerscanbe
orderedandmatchedtotheexistingkey.Todetermine
thetumblerarrangement,placethekeyoverthetem-
plate(fig.A-ll).Startingfromtheleft,readacrossthe
horizontallinesandrecordfirstdigit(number1 posi-
tion)ofthekeycode.Continuethisprocessforsub-
sequentnumbers2 through5.
NOTE:

to determine the key bitting code of a key for which the
