electricmotors.

HOWLONGCOVERAGELASTS.
Thelinnitedwarrantycoveragelastsfortwo(2)yearsfromthedateofyouroriginalretailpurchase.Forcomponentparts
andaccessories,includingfactoryinstalledelectricmotors,thelimitedwarrantycoveragelastsforone(1)yearfromthe
dateofyouroriginalretailpurchase.
WHATJOHNSONOUTDOORSWILLDO.
Ifwithinthewarranty period, theboatisproventoJohnsonOutdoors'reasonablesatisfactiontohavea materialdefectin
workmanshipormaterialscoveredby thiswarranty,asJohnsonOutdoors'soleandexclusiveobligationandyoursoleand
exclusiveremedy,JohnsonOutdoors shall, atitsoption,repairorreplacetheboatthroughanauthorizeddealer.Inorder
tobecoveredby thiswarranty,anysuchrepairmustbeperformedwithinthewarrantyperiod.
Thiswarrantycoversreplacementofpartsandlabordirectlyassociatedwiththedefectatanauthorizeddealer'sfacility
anddoesnotincludeanycostorexpenseofreturningtheboatand/orpartto/fromtheauthorizeddealer.
Allrisksassociatedwiththesedeliveryprocessesareyourresponsibility
YoumustprovidetheJohnsonOutdoorsauthorizeddealerwithwrittennoticeoftheallegeddefectwithin10daysafter
youdiscoverthedefect.Includeproofofpurchasewithyournotice.
WHATTHISWARRANTYDOESNOTCOVER.
Thiswarrantydoesnotextendtoorapplytoanyproductthatisusedforrentalorothercommercialuse,noranyboat
thathasbeensubjecttomisuse,modification,abnormaluse,abuse,damageduetoenvironmentalornaturalelements,
failuretofollowJOHNSONOUTDOORS'instructions,unauthorizedrepair,incorrectlyperformedmaintenanceor
repair,improperstorage,negligence,accidentordamageresultingfromuseofmotorsinexcessofratedhorsepower.
Inaddition,thewarrantydoesnotcoveranydamagecausedby operationoftheboatinextremeweatherandsea
conditions.Damagetothehullsand/orstructuredeterminedby JohnsonOutdoorstohavebeencausedbyeither
electrolysisorimpropertraileringoftheboatwillnotbecoveredunderthiswarranty.

Minimizingtheuseofthehighestspeedsettingwillsignificantlyextendyourrun-timebeforethebatteriesneedtoberecharged.
Italsoextendsthelife ofthemotoritself.
Hereareveryapproximaterun-timeusingfourGroup27Series12VDCdeepcyclebatteries
beforeexperiencinga noticeablelossofperformance:

NOTE:Runtimewillvarysignificantlywithwindandwaterconditions.
BatteryMaintenance
CAUTION: Donotsmokeorallowopenflameswhenyouareworkingnearthebatteries-thegasthatescapesbatteriesis
explosive.
"Maintenance"doesnotrefertocharging.Itreferstomaintainingtheproperamountofdistilledwaterinthebatterycellsand
ensuringthatthebatteryterminalsarekeptcleanandfreeofcorrosion.
Unlesswaterlevelswithinthesecellsaremaintainedattherecommendedlevels,permanentdamagetothebatterycanoccur.

Ifyouhavestandarddeepcyclemarinebatteries(notAGM),checkyourbatteriesatleastoncea weektoensurethatcellsare
filledtotheirproper level. Here'showtodoit:
1. Removetheseatcushionstogetatthebatteries.
2.Removeeachcapandvisuallycheckforthelevelofelectrolyte(liquid)ineach cell.
3. Ifitisbelowthebottomofthefillneck,adddistilledwatertothebottomofthefill neck.DONOTUSETAP WATER, WELLWATER,
OR "SPRING" WATER.Useonlydistilledwater(availableinmostgrocerystores).
4. Makesuretheplatesarecompletelycoveredwithsolution.Ifyouaccidentallyoverfillthecells,thesolutionwillspilloutthe
vents. BECAREFULNOTTOOVERFILL:Thissolutionisanacidandverycorrosive,easilycausingburnsontheskinandholesin
clothing. Rinseallspilledsolutionfromthebatterycompartmentandfromyourhandswithwater.
NOTE:AbsorbedGlassMat(AGM)batteriesaresealed.Theydonotrequirethatthecellsarerefilled.

batterychargersarelocatedunderthehelmseats.

SPECIALNOTE:Alwayskeeptheseatcushioninstalledoverthebatterycompartmentwhenchanging.Thecompartmentis

OPERATING YOUR DECK BOAT (CRUZr
DepartureChecklist
Thefollowingchecklistwillhelpmakecertainallsystemsaresafeandfunctioningbeforeleavingonyourexcursion.
1. Unplugthebatterycharger,andsecureanyextensioncord(s).
2.Checkthebatterymonitorgaugeatthehelmbeforeturningonanyelectricalsystem.Makesurethebatteriesarefully
charged.
3. MakesurethereareenoughPFD's (lifejackets)forallpassengers.Insistthatallchildrenandanyadultswhocannotswim
wearPFD's atalltimes.
4. Checktheweatherandwaveconditions.TheDeckBoat(Cruz)™isnotintendedforuseinhighwavesandhighwinds.
5.Checkthemotor/ propeller.Makesuretheyareoperableandfreeofweeds,debris,fishing lineandotherobstructions.
6.Ensurea safetykitisonboard.Thissafetykit shouldcontain:extrapropellerandshearpin,extrafusesanda first aidkit.
MarineRulesandRegulations
BeforelaunchingyourDeckBoat(Cruz)™,besureyouknowrelevantmarinelaws,rulesandregulationsthatgovernwatercraft
operationonyourbodyofwaterandwithinyourstate.
Launching
WhentheDeckBoat(Cruz)islaunchedfroma trailer,certainprecautionsshouldbetakentopreventdamagetotheboator
motor.
1. Makesurethemotorisinthe "UP" position.
2.Checkthewaterdepth.Makesurethewaterisdeepenoughtolowerthemotorandlaunchwiththeloadyouarecarrying.
Theminimumwaterdepthis2 feet.

OperatingtheDeckBoat
1. Makecertainyourboatisinatleasttwofeetofwater.
2.Turnkeyto "ON" position.
3. Lowerthemotorwiththepowertrimbuttononthecontroller.
4. Directioniscontrolledby thesteeringwheel.
5.Speediscontrolledbythethrottlecontrolleverthathasforward/neutral/andreversepositions.
Thehigherthespeed setting, themoreamps(energy)themotorwilldrawfromthebatteriesandtheshortertheoverallrun
timebetweenbatteryrecharges.Usehighspeedwhenyouhonestlywanttogoatmaximumspeedoraretryingtoovercome
resistancefromwindand/orcurrent.Windyconditionsofferresistancethatthemotormustovercome.Loweringthecanopy
willhelpreducewindresistanceandextendruntimes.
6.Besuretocheckyourbatterychargelevelduringyourtrip.Plantobeonthereturnlegofyourtripbeforethechargelevel
getsto50%.
7.Thenavigationlightsarecontrolledbya switchlocatednearthestereo.Thecontrolswitchhas
twopositions:
•Off
•Navigation(bothbowandrearlightson)
Atduskordawn - andduringthehoursofdarkness - thebowandrear(anchorlight)lightmust
beturnedonwhentheboatismoving.If you areanchoredor drifting, you musthavejustthe
rearlighton.

11. WhenyouleavetheDeckBoat(Cruz)ata dock,useboatfendersorsomeothercushioningdevicestopreventabrasion
causedby theboatbumpingagainstthedock.Whenmooringtheboatby anchoringorattachmenttoa buoy,usethe
eyes(oneatthebow;twoatthestern)ifpossible.Otherwise,tieofftoa cleat.
Iftheboatisleftunusedformorethana day,itisa goodideatocovertheseatswiththeoptionalseatcovers.As an
alternative,youcanalsocovertheentireboatwiththemooring/storagecover.

andintoafloorsocket.Thetablecanbestoredbyhanging itfromthesternrailstanchions

topofthetablewillfacethefrontoftheboat.Thenthreadthepedestalthroughtheelastic
straps.Thepedestalwillhelpfurthersecurethetabletotherailstanchions.

TheAM/FMradioCDplayerisdesignedforruggedmarineuse.TheelectricalcircuitryIsprotectedbyan
in-line 3-amp fuselocatedbehindthestereobodyandonthefuse block.Toaccessthefuse,removethefour
screwsholdingtheradiomountingpanelandslidetheradiooutofitsmountinghole.Thein-linefuse isin
theplasticcapsuleonthepowerlead(red)leadingfromtheradio.

FLOOR DRAINING
Therearethreefloordrainsthatchannelwateroverboardfromthedeck.Twoarelocatedatthefootofthecaptain'sconsoleandone
isunderthecarpetedflooratthebow.Thereisalsoa drainineachbatterycompartment.Besuretoperiodicallycheckthesedrains
tomakesuretheyarenotblockedorcoveredwithdebris.
DECK/HULL DRAINING
Thereisa drainplugattherearoftheboattodrainwaterthatmayaccumulatebetweenthedeckandthe
topofthe hull.
NOTE:Watercannotaccumulateinthehullsbecausetheyarefoam filled.
Raisingthebow(12.5°ormoreispreferred)willdrainthewater. Ifraisingthebowisnotpossible,removethe
plugwhiletheboatisfloating.Putasmuchweightatthebackoftheboataspossibletohelpdraining.
NOTE:Itisimportanttoensuredeck/hullhasbeendrained,priortowinter storage, to preventcracking.
NOTE:A smallamountofwaterwillremaininside.Thisisexpectedandnormal.
