Klein + Hummel’s accessories are designed to compliment
Klein + Hummel’s extensive range of monitors. The accessories range
gives increased signal interconnectivity and mounting flexibility, for
the cabinets and the electronics. The philosophy of the mounting
hardware range is for Klein + Hummel to supply the parts required to
mount the loudspeakers onto commonly available third-party
mounting products. Before reading the rest of this operating manual,

(E) When volume control is not available at the source, it can be
performed in the 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager™. This is typical, for
example, when stereo consoles are being used for multichannel work,
or when CD players or (processed) outputs from DVD players are
directly connected to the subwoofer. It also provides high performance
volume control functionality for digital audio workstations on the
analog domain after the workstation’s DA conversion without needing
any additional monitoring controller devices.
The SRC 1 is a device used to remotely control the system volume,
LFE gain (0 or + 10 dB), and bass management (enable/disable).
Simply connect the SRC 1 to a subwoofer equipped with a
7.1 High Definition Bass Manager using an RC nn Remote Cable (not
included). Note that the Volume Control switch on the subwoofer
should be set to enable position. When attached, the SRC 1’s settings
immediately override the settings on the electronics panel, so it is
good practice to turn the volume control knob down before connecting
the SRC 1.
If the SRC 1 is disconnected from the subwoofer(s), the replay volume
will be set to 0 dB. The same will happen when the Volume Control
switch on the back panel is set back to the disable, even if the SRC1 is
still connected.
Reconnecting the SRC 1 causes it to immediately take control again
(don’t forget to set the Volume Control switch on the back panel of the
subwoofer into the “Active” position). Similarly, the LFE gain
(0 or + 10 dB), and bass management (enable/disable) settings are
controlled by the SRC 1, when it is connected, or by the electronics
panel when the SRC 1 is not connected. No power cycling is required to
reset these settings.
No audio passes down the CAT-5 type cable, only control signals. The
CAT-5 cable should not be plugged into an IP or network output socket
otherwise damage may occur to the source equipment. Furthermore,
the CAT cable should not carry an IP signal. The signals on the cable are
as follows (a * indicates RS-232 data connections, which are not used
by the SRC1):

For multiple subwoofer systems, an EtherCon Adapter (SEA 1) is
required. See the SEA 1 for instructions on its use.
Klein + Hummel’s RC nn cables have the following specification: Metal
EtherCon (Neutrik NE8MC) terminated, fire rated, mic-quality (i.e. not
very stiff) CAT-5 cable.

La SRC 1 sert à contrôler le niveau sonore de votre système d’écoute, le
gain du canal LFE (0 ou +10 dB), et l’activation/désactivation du Bass
Management. Il suffit de relier la SRC 1 à un caisson de graves équipé
d’un Bass Manager 7.1 High Definition, en utilisant un câble de
télécommande RC nn (non livré). Veuillez noter que le sélecteur
Volume Control, sur le caisson de graves, doit se trouver en position
Enable. Dès qu’elle est connectée, la télécommande SRC 1 devient
prioritaire sur les réglages effectués sur le panneau électronique du
caisson : il est donc plus prudent de baisser le volume sur la SRC 1
avant de la brancher.
Si la SRC 1 est déconnectée du (ou des) caisson(s) de graves, le volume
de restitution sera réglé à 0 dB ; même principe si vous rétablissez le

sélecteur Volume Control du caisson en position Disable – même si la
SRC 1 est toujours branchée.
Aucun signal audio ne passe par le câble CAT-5, qui ne transporte que
des signaux de commande. Le câble CAT-5 ne doit pas être branché
dans un réseau IP ou dans une prise réseau, sous peine d’endommager
l’appareil source. De plus, le câble CAT-5 ne doit pas transporter de
signal IP. Voici l’assignation des points du connecteur RJ-45 aux
différents signaux (une * indique des branchements de données
RS-232, non utilisés par la SRC 1) :

Dans le cas de l’utilisation de plusieurs caissons de graves, il faut
utiliser un adaptateur EtherCon (SEA 1). Reportez-vous au manuel du
SEA 1 pour les instructions d’utilisation.
Les câbles Klein + Hummel’s RC nn possèdent les caractéristiques
suivantes : connecteurs EtherCon métalliques (Neutrik NE8MC),
résistant au feu, câble CAT-5 de qualité micro (assez souple).

DA-Wandlung der Workstation, ohne dass zusätzliche Steuergeräte für
das Monitoring benötigt werden.
Mit der SRC 1 lässt sich der Systempegel, die LFE-Verstärkung (0 oder
+10 dB) und das Bass Management (enable/disable) fernsteuern.

Verbinden Sie die SRC 1 einfach über ein RC nn Fernbedienungskabel
(nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten) mit einem Subwoofer, der mit
einem 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager ausgerüstet ist. Der Volume
Control-Schalter des Subwoofers sollte auf “Enable” stehen. Nach
erfolgtem Anschluss setzen die Einstellungen der SRC 1 sofort die
Einstellungen des Elektronikfelds außer Kraft. Sie sollten daher vor
dem Anschließen der SRC 1 den Pegelregler zurückdrehen.
Wird die SRC 1 von einem oder mehreren Subwoofer(n) getrennt, wird
der Wiedergabepegel auf 0 dB gesetzt. Das Gleiche geschieht, wenn
der rückseitige Volume Control-Schalter auf “Disable” zurückgesetzt
wird, auch wenn die SRC1 noch angeschlossen ist.
Beim erneuten Anschließen der SRC 1 übernimmt diese sofort wieder
die Steuerung (vergessen Sie nicht, den Volume Control-Schalter auf
der Rückseite des Subwoofers auf “Active” einzustellen).
Entsprechend werden die Einstellungen für die LFE-Verstärkung
(0 oder + 10 dB) und das Bass Management (enable/disable) von der
SRC 1 gesteuert, wenn diese angeschlossen ist, oder vom
Elektronikfeld gesteuert, wenn die SRC 1 nicht angeschlossen ist. Um
die Einstellungen zurückzusetzen, muss man das Gerät nicht aus- und
wieder einschalten.
Über das CAT-5 Kabel werden keine Audiosignale, sondern nur
Steuersignale geleitet. Das CAT-5 Kabel sollte nicht an einen IP- oder
Netzwerkausgang angeschlossen werden, da andernfalls das
Quellgerät beschädigt werden könnte. Weiterhin sollte das CAT Kabel
keine IP-Signale übertragen. Über das Kabel laufen folgende Signale
(ein * bezeichnet RS-232 Datenverbindungen, die von der SRC1 nicht
verwendet werden):

Bei mehreren Subwoofer-Systemen benötigen Sie einen EtherCon
Adapter (SEA 1). Wegen näherer Einzelheiten zur Anwendung siehe
SEA 1.
Die RC nn Kabel von Klein + Hummel haben folgende Spezifikationen:
schwer entflammbares CAT-5 Kabel in Mikrofonqualität (d. h. nicht
sehr steif) mit metallener EtherCon (Neutrik NE8MC) Terminierung.
(S) Cuando el control de volumen no está disponible en la fuente, éste se
puede controlar por medio del 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager™. Éste
es el caso, por ejemplo, de consolas estéreo que se usan para trabajar
con múltiples canales o cuando reproductores de CD o las salidas
(procesadas) de reproductores de DVD se conectan directamente al
subwoofer. También permite controlar el volumen de estaciones de
trabajo de audio digital con un alto rendimiento en el dominio

El SRC 1 se usa para controlar a distancia el volumen del sistema, la
ganancia LFE (0 o + 10 dB) y el sistema de administración de bajos
(activo/inactivo). Simplemente conecte el SRC 1 a un subwoofer
equipado con 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager por medio de un Cable
Remoto RC nn (no incluido). Recuerde que el selector del Control de
Volumen en el subwoofer deberá estar en posición de activo. Cuando
se conecta, los ajustes del SRC 1 se sobreponen inmediatamente a los
ajustes del panel de circuitos electrónicos, por lo que le recomendamos
que baje el volumen del control remoto antes de conectar el SRC 1.
Si el SRC 1 se desconecta del subwoofer, el volumen de reproducción se
pondrá en 0 dB. Lo mismo sucede cuando el selector del Control de
Volumen en el panel posterior del subwoofer se pone en posición de
inactivo, incluso si el SRC 1 sigue conectado.
Al conectar nuevamente el SRC 1 éste retoma inmediatamente el
control del sistema (no olvide poner el selector del Control de Volumen
en el panel posterior del subwoofer en posición de "Activo"). De
manera similar, la ganancia LFE (0 o + 10 dB) y el sistema de
administración de bajos (activo/inactivo) se controlan por medio del
SRC 1 cuando está conectado o a través del panel de circuitos
electrónicos cuando el SRC 1 no está conectado. No es necesario volver
a encender el sistema para restablecer los ajustes.

Ninguna señal de audio pasa a través de cables tipo CAT-5, sino sólo
señales de control. El cable CAT-5 no deberá conectarse a una salida de
red o IP, de lo contrario el equipo fuente puede dañarse. El cable CAT
tampoco deberá llevar una señal IP. Las señales en el cable son las
siguientes (un * indica conexiones de datos RS-232, las cuales no son
usadas por el SRC 1).

Recycling
Attention to product quality in the design phase ensures, firstly, that
products have a long life and that, secondly, all parts of a product may be
reused or recycled at the end of that life. An extensive product servicing
network ensures that products can be repaired in the event of the
premature failure of a part, or as a way to prolong the life of a product that
would otherwise be considered a candidate for landfill. Eventually there
comes a time when a product is considered beyond repair (for economic
reasons or lack of parts), so the parts must be disposed of in a suitable
manner. The disposal should conform to local environmental regulations

Recycling
Besonderes Augenmerk im Designprozess eines Klein+Hummel Produktes
wird auf dessen lange Haltbarkeit gelegt, Darüber hinaus ist es
Klein + Hummel wichtig, dass alle Produkte so konzipiert sind, sodass sie
am Ende ihres Produktlebenszyklusses recycelt und wieder verwertbar

In addition to specific warnings throughout this document, please observe
these additional general instructions. The term “loudspeaker” includes the
case when the electronics of an active loudspeaker is installed into a
Remote Electronics Kit, or when it is still located in the back of the cabinet.
This symbol means that a high voltage is to found nearby.
Take appropriate precautions to avoid electric shocks.
This symbol means that hot parts of the product may be found
nearby. Take appropriate precautions to avoid burns.
General
•Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
•Failure to follow the safety and warning instructions contained in this
document voids the warranty.
•This product should be used for the intention for which it was designed
and as described in this document.
Environment
•Ensure that the room in which you use this product is wired in
accordance with the local electrical code and checked by a qualified
inspector.
•A correctly earthed mains power connection should always be used.
•If access to the interior electronics is required, disconnect it from the
mains power and allow electrical energy storage devices, such as
capacitors and transformers, to discharge.
•Other electronic products may generate sufficient heat to require
ventilation.
•Do not block or cover heatsinks, fans, or vents.
•Unless otherwise stated, this product is designed to be used indoors
only.
•Do not expose this product to water, any other liquids, moisture, or
naked flames.
•Do not install this product into hot, humid, or excessively dusty
locations, or into direct sunlight.
•Avoid installing this product into locations where it will experience
externally generated vibrations or heat (e.g. radiators).
•If the product is moved from a cold environment into a warm one (such
as from a vehicle into a building), it is possible that condensation will

form. Please allow the product sufficient time for acclimatization to
room temperature before using.
•Wherever an amplifier is located, a free flow of air should be maintained
by leaving a gap of at least 5 cm (2”) around it. A flush mounted
cabinet with the electronics panel still installed should be well-
ventilated to avoid heat build-up and possible risk of fire.
Use
•The equipment should be mounted by a suitably qualified professional
in accordance with local, national, and international regulations and
standards, taking into account the structural loading on the wall/ceiling.
•Falling equipment can damage itself, people, and other objects, so do
not place this unit on any unstable platform, cart, trolley, stand, table, or
mounting hardware.
•Do not use accessories and options with this product that are not
approved by Klein + Hummel.
•Mounting hardware must be attached to the appropriate hardware and
attachment points rated and intended for such use.
•Ensure that the operating voltage of this product matches that of the
local mains voltage.
•Use the power cable that came with this product as this has been
manufactured to international safety standards. If it has been damaged
obtain a similarly certified and specified mains power cable.
•This product should be unplugged from the mains power and the signal
sources if is not to be used for an extended period of time, or during
lightening storms.
•The power switch on this product should be set to off before applying
mains power via the mains power cable.
•Some parts of this product, particularly power amplifier components,
can become hot to the touch. Do not touch these parts until they have
cooled down.
•Never touch the loudspeaker’s drivers.
•Loudspeakers are often capable of producing a sound pressure level in
excess of 85 dB. This may cause permanent hearing damage so user
caution is recommended. Noise exposure is a function of SPL and time,
so observe local regulations when listening at high levels for a long
time. Hearing protection maybe be required.

Servicing
•Repairs, maintenance, or other servicing of this product when its interior
compartment is exposed should only be performed by Klein + Hummel
authorized service engineers familiar with the equipment and risks
involved in handling electronics.
•Servicing maybe required in the event of exposure to unfavorable
environmental conditions, such as liquids, excessive heat, or a lightning
strike.
•Amplifier outputs may carry high voltages so take appropriate
precautions, for example, connect the cables before powering up.
•When replacing a fuse, ensure that a brand new fuse is used. It must be
exactly the same type, value, and voltage as the original, as stated in
the product’s technical specifications or on the circuit board.
Maintenance and Servicing
•There are no user serviceable parts inside the standard version of this
product. Repairs should only be undertaken by Klein + Hummel certified
service engineer.
•Options and accessories are fitted at the user’s own risk.
•Products may be cleaned using a non-abrasive cloth lightly damped
with water. Disconnect the mains power cable when cleaning to avoid
risk of electric shock. Do not use alcohol-based cleaners.
•The electronics should only be opened by non-“Klein + Hummel certified
service engineer” for the installation of user installable options as
described in the product’s operating manual. The mains power cable
should be disconnected whenever the electronics panel is opened.
•If the main fuse blows, the product should be checked by a
Klein + Hummel certified service engineer.
