SELF-RIMMING AND
UNDERCOUNTER LAVATORY
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
NOTES
Use these instructions to install both self-rimming
and undercounter lavatories. Follow only the
instructions that apply to your installation.
Due to the nature of undercounter installations,
lavatories installed undercounter should be installed
by trained and experienced installers.
Prior to installation, unpack the new lavatory and
carefully inspect for damage. Return the lavatory to
its protective carton until you are ready to install it.
Do not use adhesives or adhesive sealants with any
undercounter installation.

Cut out the template and mounting hole locations inside
the cut-out line.

 marble or solid surface countertops upside down on
foam padding. Drill 3/8” diameter holes, 5/8” deep in the
locations shown. Locate the lead anchors in the holes
using a setting tool. Tap the setting tool with a hammer to
set the lead anchors in position.
NOTE: The insert must be properly installed to ensure
proper fit.
NOTE: Forwoodcountertops,pre-drill theholes forwood
screws in the locations shown. Waterproof unprotected
areas of wood.
          

Follow the instructions listed on the sealant label. Allow
the sealant to set for 30 minutes or longer before
proceeding.
Connect the drain fittings and faucet supply fittings.
Turn on the water, and check for leaks at allconnections.

SELF-RIMMING INSTALLATION
Determine the faucet centerline location. Consider the
faucet and handle escutcheon diameters, the length of
the spout, and the clearance between the spout and the
lavatory rim.
Calculate the faucet centerline measurement by first
dividing the escutcheon diameter in half, and then add
1/4”.
NOTE: Round this calculation up to the nearest 1/16”, if
necessary. Fig. #1

minimum 2” distance from water stream to rim
edge. This is important to ensure adequate
clearance for hand washing (refer to Fig. #2);
minimum1/4” distance between the faucet spout
and the lavatory rim (refer to Fig. #3).
Redraw the faucet centerline as needed to meet these
criteria.

Turn off the water supply to the faucet.
Open the faucet valves, then disconnect the supply lines.
Disconnect the drain assembly, and remove the trap.
Remove the existing lavatory.

Cut the template on the cutout line.
Position the template on the countertop to ensure
clearance between the lavatory, faucet, and backsplash.
Verify cabinet clearance beneath the countertop.

Trace the template on the countertop with a pencil.
Re-check the clearance between the lavatory, faucet,
backsplash,andcabinet.Adjustthetemplateaccordingly.
Markthefaucetandhandlescenterlineonthecountertop.

Temporarily position the lavatory in the opening, and
adjust to fit.
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product
damage. Large lavatories are very heavy. Get help
lifting the lavatory into place.
Traceapencillinearoundtheoutsideedgeofthelavatory.
Remove the lavatory.
Install the faucet to the countertop according to the
manufacturer’s instructions.
Install the drain to the lavatory according to the
manufacturer’s instructions.

Apply two beads of sealant to the inside of the pencil line.
Spread the sealant evenly with a putty knife.

Carefully position the lavatory in the cutout, and press
down firmly.
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product
damage. Large lavatories are very heavy. Get help
lifting the lavatory into place.

Immediately wipe away any excess sealant, and fill any
voids as needed.
Verify that the lavatory has not moved out of position.
Allow the sealant to cure for at least 30 minutes before
proceeding.

Connect the faucet supply lines.
Connect the drain assembly.
Open the faucet valves, and check for leakage.
Clean up with a non-abrasive cleaner.
