Purpose:
A telescope is an optical system designed to magnify from a distant. A reflector telescope
consists of an open tube with a curved mirror at the bottom. The open end of the tube is pointed at
the object in the sky and the entering light rays strike the mirror at bottom. The rays, reflected from
this mirror, strike a second diagonal mirror. As a result of the curvature of the main mirror, the light
rays are bent to meet at a point.
The mirror in a reflector telescope must be painstakingly ground to the proper curvature to achieve
the correct focal point. The purpose of the diagonal mirror, which is located a short distance before
the focal point, is to reflect the light rays towards the side of the tube where an eyepiece magnifies
the image.
The telescope has an equatorial mount. It is extremely versatile because it allows the telescope to
move in all directions. Therefore, it is possible to track a star’s movement across the sky in the same
path the star seems to take.

1. Leave the telescope in the same position as assembled.
2. Remove the two screws attached to the eyepiece adaptor (10). Put the eyepiece with lowest
value (H20) on the eyepiece adaptor.
3. Aim the telescope during daytime at an object in the distance (e.g. building, etc.)
4. Adjust the focusing knob (8) back and forth until the object is sharp focused.

Aligning the sighting scope
1. Look through the sighting scope after focusing the telescope (4). If the sighting scope is not in
focus, turn the eyepiece (6) around on until the view is sharp and clear.
2. If the object you see in the telescope is not in the center of the sighting scope crosshairs, do
the following: tighten and loose the four screws (25, figure 2) of the bracket and move sighting
scope up or down, side to side or diagonally. When the object is in the center of the crosshairs
your sighting scope is adjusted.
3. Repeat this process by replacing the lower power eyepiece with another higher eyepiece.
Once the image is centered under highest magnification, the telescope is also centered in the
sighting scope. It may now be used for rapid location of objects in the sky. On rare occasions,
the sighting scope might have to be readjusted.
Note 1: Whenever locating an object, always use the finder scope first in finder scope
position. Because it has a wide field of view and will speed up the search.
Note 2: Always start with the lowest power eyepiece in the telescope tube and work up to
the required value. Make the necessary focusing adjustments by changing eyepieces.
Eyepieces and magnification
This telescope is supplied with two different eyepieces (H6 mm and H20 mm). The power
of each particular eyepiece is directly related to the focal length of the telescope which
is 1000 mm.
However, generally the power of each eyepiece is related to the focal length of the objective mirror
of the telescope.
The formula is as follows:
Focal length of telescope
---------------------------------- = Magnification
Focal length of eyepiece
As an example, the H6mm eyepiece will show a magnification of:
1000mm
------------ = 167X Magnification
6mm
Note: focal length of the telescope is synthesized by the correcting lens.

Using the telescope
Before learning the technical details of this telescope, the telescope is ready for observing stars,
planets and the moon. Turn the declination axis clamp screw (11), the right ascension clamp screw
(12) and the polar axis clamp screw (24) to adjust the position of the telescope. Turn the horizontal
axis clamp screw (14) so the telescope can swing in a circle.
The Moon and the Stars
When viewing at night, it’s possible to look at the moon and it’s surface. Aim the Finder scope so
the moon is in the center of the crosshairs. The main telescope is now directly aimed at the moon.
Focus the telescope as previously described.
For optimal use of a telescope and everything about astronomy it’s recommended to purchase
specific books and literature for amateur astronomers.
