DVD DVD Standard DVD Player
Great home theater starts with a great
source component. And in a marketplace
inundated by unremarkable DVD players,
the Krell DVD Standard has emerged as
an industry reference—a true high-end
home theater source component. The DVD Standard is the world’s first
standalone DVD player to incorporate
Faroudja Laboratories’ newest high-perfor-
mance digital video chipset. Faroudja’s
patented digital signal processing technol-
ogy delivers unprecedented image detail
and sharpness. The DVD Standard also
implements Faroudja’s award-winning de-
interlacing and line-doubling algorithms to
provide the highest-quality progressive-
scan video output.
Video output is optimized for the latest solid-
state video display technologies, including
plasma, LCD, DLP, and DILA. The progres-
sive-scan output employs triple 10-bit DACs
and provides both RGB and component
interfaces.
Both Toslink and coaxial digital audio outputs
are provided. A component output, featuring
2X oversampling and a 10-bit DAC, is provid-
ed for interlaced-scan video output, as are
standard composite and S-video outputs.
An advanced transport ensures compatibility with
a wide range of media, including single- and dual-
layer DVD, video CD, and audio CD/CD-R.
24-bit/192kHz ultra-high-resolution digital-to-ana-
log converters (DACs) assure superb audio perfor-
mance. The converters feature a differential cur-
rent output configuration to provide an ideal
interface with the renowned Krell Current Mode,™
discrete Class A, direct-coupled, fully complemen-
tary analog output circuitry.
The Krell DVD Standard is
uncompromisingly engineered

video and audio source signal
possible… for today’s high-end
home theater systems and
those of the future. The play-
er’s firmware can be simply
upgraded via the disc drive,
making the DVD Standard
immune to obsolescence.
The crucial final stage that delivers the video signal to
the display device comprises professional-grade circuit-
ry. It is classic Krell output stage technology applied to
the video domain—robust, uncompromised circuitry
delivering the most vivid and detailed picture available
from the DVD platform.

The Home Theater Standard 7.1 is THX Ultra
certified and is fully compatible with the lat-
est surround processing modes, including
THX Surround EX, Dolby Digital EX,
DTS ES 6.1, DTS NEO:6, and Dolby Pro
Logic II. Additionally, Krell Music Surround
modes provide enhanced reproduction of
conventional stereo music sources.
The digital surround engine features state-of-
the-art signal processors, operating at high
speed and upsampled 24-bit precision, aug-
mented by 8MB of added memory. The
resulting boost in processing efficiency
improves bit stream recognition and channel
steering. Digital crossover circuitry,
offering a wide range of crossover fre-
quencies, operates in 48-bit double-
precision mode for unparalleled
ability to optimize speaker/subwoofer
system performance.Finally, all chan-
nels are processed by 24-bit/192 kHz
DACs, yielding the most accurate
analog signal possible.
HTS 7.1 Home Theater Standard 7.1 Surround Preamp/Processor
The Krell Home Theater Standard 7.1 is a full
system control center offering exceptional
audio and video performance, flexibility, and
ease of use. It is the centerpiece in Krell’s
HEAT™—High End Audio Theater—system
concept, which applies the fundamental prin-
ciples of Krell audio engineering to the cre-
ation of a fully integrated high-performance
multichannel audio/video system. Krell HEAT
makes it possible to enjoy movies at home
with audio quality unmatched by even the
finest commercial theater venues.
The analog circuitry—the most critical stage
in a surround preamp/processor—features the
advanced signal path developed for Krell’s
flagship stereo preamplifier, the Krell Current
Tunnel. All eight channels employ fully bal-
anced Krell Current Mode™ topology in a
zero-feedback configuration, delivering a
staggering 1MHz bandwidth. This circuitry
assures the most transparent reproduction of
today’s most demanding
movie soundtracks and
high-resolution audio
formats. In Preamp
mode, the HTS 7.1
operates as a pure
analog preamplifier,
bypassing all digital
ciruitry to ensure the
cleanest, most direct
signal path.

With its powerful configuration
versatility and unparalleled sys-
tem interface and flexibility, the
HTS 7.1 is easy to use. Built-in
step-by-step guides simplify
optimal setup. Krell’s unique software-based seven-channel digital
room equalizer maximizes system performance in any
room. For each of four memory settings, the user can
program filter type (high-pass, low-pass, notch, peaking,
and high/low shelf), frequency,s shape, and level for all
seven channels. This makes it possible to program, for
example, independent settings for stereo music, multi-
channel music, movie surround, or even video game
software. Krell’s digital room equalizer can transform
your family entertainment room into a breathtaking
home theater...without hiring an architect.
Controls include bidirectional RS-232 communications,
12V triggers, and direct RC-5 input. The HTS 7.1 is also
Crestron I2P certified for use with touchpanel-based sys-
tems. The operating system resides in FLASH memory,
enabling software upgrades via the RS-232 port.

TAS Theater Amplifier Standard Multichannel Amplifier
The Krell Theater Amplifier Standard
comprises five identical channels in a sin-
gle chassis, providing prodigious output
capability to drive any home theater
speaker array to lifelike levels… with
unmatched Krell sonic excellence.
The Theater Amplifier Standard delivers 200
Watts per channel into 8 ohms (400 Watts
per channel into 4 ohms). Adjacent channels
can be bridged to deliver 800 Watts into 8
ohms. Featuring Krell Current Mode,™ dis-
crete Class A, direct-coupled, fully comple-
mentary gain stages, Krell’s newest circuity
topology ensures unmatched transparency
and accuracy. The driver/output stage
employs 14 high-current transistors per
channel. Backed by an enormous 4kVA
toroidal-transformer power supply, this
design delivers huge output current capabili-
ty for unwavering performance even with
challenging speaker loads and the most
demanding music and movie
program material.
Both balanced and single-ended inputs are
provided. 12VDC trigger input/output ports
enable remote power on/off operation. A Multi
Amplifier Throughput™ (MAT) feature sends
the signal to any or all channels from a single
input connection for reduced wiring complexi-
ty in multi-amplified systems. A DB-25 input
enables convenient single-cable connection of
audio and control signals.

KAV KAV-3250 Three-Channel Amplifier
KAV-2250 Two-Channel Amplifier
Two powerful additions to Krell’s highly
acclaimed KAV Series provide high-per-
formance music and home theater sys-
tem enthusiasts with even greater choice
and system configuration flexibility. The
KAV-3250 and KAV-2250 amplifiers fea-
ture the newest Krell design enhance-
ments, providing an extraordinary
degree of sonic refinement. The KAV-3250 Three-Channel and KAV-
2250 Two-Channel amplifiers share numer-
ous Krell design and manufacturing tech-
nologies. Both amplifiers are powered by a
massive 2kVA toroidal-transformer supply.
Both deliver a substantial power output of
250 Watts per channel into 8 ohms (500
Watts per channel into 4 ohms). With either
amplifier, adjacent channels can be bridged
to deliver 1000 Watts into 8 ohms.
As with the Theater Amplifier Standard,
the gain stages use Krell Current Mode,™
discrete Class A, fully complementary
circuitry. The driver/output stages
employ 14 high-current transistors per
channel for high output current capabili-
ty. This design delivers the clean, power-
ful, detailed reproduction that is the
hallmark of Krell amplifiers.
Both amplifiers include the Krell Multi
Amp Throughput™ (MAT) feature, which
feeds the signal from a single input—
balanced or single-ended—to any or all
channels. This simplifies wiring require-
ments in multi-amplified systems.
The Krell Theater Amplifier Standard, KAV-3250,
and KAV-2250 can be used in combinations to
deliver 5, 6, 7, or more channels of incompara-
ble amplification as needed in sophisticated
home theater and whole-house systems.
