COMPONENTS
CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL / CABINET FINISHES
Active audio systems have very high demands placed on them. You cannot allow vibrations of the
material to colour the sound. There are many heavy and sensitive components that must be kept
safe during transport. To ensure a high standard of sound reproduction, safety of the components,
and successful transportation, KS uses only, water resistant, birch plywood at a thickness of 18 mm,
and the front panel is even thicker to support the weight of the drivers mounted on it. CNC
(Computer Numerical Control) milling and drilling technology is used to guarantee the highest
dimensional accuracy. The joints are crafted to be solid: gluing with tongue and groove joints, as
well as bolting or screwing where necessary. The amplifier chassis uses solid steel rails in a separate
section of the cabinet to ensure further reliability. All detachable connections have metric threads.
There are two available surface finishes for the cabinet. A scuff resistant textured polyurethane
surface coating in a black colour is for heavy-duty touring applications whereas, for fixed
installations, and colour conscious environments where design and colour matching are equally
important, the surface finish can be preselected from a palette of 200 available RAL colours to
match.
PHYSICAL HANDLING
For safe handling, the CPD 14 loudspeakers are optionally equipped with solid recessed grips. For
operation on tripods, a high stand flange (36mm) is embedded in the bottom. On request, there
are also four adjustable feet made of particularly abrasion-resistant plastic, so that the surface is not
damaged by rough standing surfaces. Membranes are sensitive to mechanical impact and
moisture. A powder-coated stamped steel grid with particularly fine perforation offers good
mechanical stability and high sound transmission. The CPD 14 has 2x M10 attachment points on
the side, which are located on the right or the left side, depending on the design of the box,
opposite the side-mounted subwoofers.
WOOFER
The DSP controller uses FIR filtering technology for true-to-noise playback. One of the three
integrated amplifiers provides 500W RMS power to the 10 "woofers. The two woofers are housed in
the side of the case. This gives the CPD14 a slim silhouette that resembles a normal line speaker
and can always be easily accommodated.
BASS PORTS
An essential role in the production of low frequencies is the acoustic attenuation of a precisely
tuned bass reflex type loudspeaker enclosure. Below a defined frequency cut-off is a significant
increase in pressure that restricts the available diaphragm movement and similarly increases
distortion and mechanical stresses. Accurate and in-phase low frequency reproductions is achieved
through the special shape of adding the dual bass reflex ports on the front panel, and are a
renowned KS feature of design quality. The two bass reflex ports have a large exponential cross
sectional contour, resulting in high efficiency and low distortion due to minimal losses at the
tunnel openings. Additionally, the interior walls of the enclosure are lined with a layer of acoustic
dampening polyester fibre material.
MID FREQUENCY SPEAKERS AND WAVEGUIDE/HORN
The power electronics include a wide-range power supply with Powerfactor Correction, two "cold"
PWM amplifiers for the low and mid-range chassis and an analogue FET amp with the best audio
properties for the high-frequency driver. The four 5 "midrange drivers feature powerful,
lightweight neodymium magnets. Its transmission range is additionally adapted to the line height
with a passive filter circuit.
