As with all freezers, your Labcold sparkfree freezer, although designed to provide you with
many years of fault free service, will perform better if attention is paid to the loading and that
it is regularly cleaned and defrosted.
Loading
In order to ensure even temperature distribution throughout your freezer it is important that:
• The shelves are not over lled
• The contents are not packed too closely together
• The maximum loading of the shelves is 10kg, do not overload
• The contents do not touch the wall or the bottom of the freezer
• After restocking the freezer, check the temperature 10 minutes later to ensure that the
freezer is cooling down, running satisfactorily and is not over lled.
Cleaning
It is recommended that your freezer is cleaned on a regular basis.
Before cleaning it is essential that you unplug the freezer from the electricity
supply, transfer the contents where they can be stored and monitored at the correct
temperatures, and defrost it fully.
When cleaning you should:
• Not use strong detergents or bleach.
• Wipe the inside of the freezer in the same solution and dry with a soft cloth.
• Wipe the door seal with a damp cloth.
• Gently remove the dust on the outside and back of the freezer. Take care not to damage
the pipes.
WARNING! If the power supply cord is damaged, it MUST be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard
Caring for your Freezer

6
Defrosting
It is recommended that your freezer be defrosted regularly, particularly if there is a signicant
build up of ice ie about 4mm or more in depth. This will happen more rapidly in times of high
humidity, if the door has been opened frequently or left open for a long time, if the freezer is
overstocked or the ambient temperature is high or low.
The formation of some frost is perfectly normal and part of normal operation of the
freezer
LABCOLD SPARKFREE FREEZERS DO NOT DEFROST AUTOMATICALLY
To defrost your freezer you should:
• Remove all the contents to a safe place and unplug or disconnect the freezer from the
electricity supply
• Leave the unit unplugged with the door open at room temperature until all the ice is
melted
• Collect water in tray or with towel
• Do not use a sharp implement to remove any ice, as this will damage the inside of the
freezer
• Do not use mechanical, electric or chemical means to speed up the defrosting process
• Dry thoroughly and remove any surplus water before returning to use
• Leave cooling and wait for the temperature to return to the set point and the unit to be
maintaining the correct temperature before re-stocking the freezer
WARNING
Do not use mechanical or other means to accelerate the defrosting process

My freezer is not working
• Check that the freezer is plugged in and the plug socket is turned on.
• Try another appliance in the socket. If this appliance works but your freezer doesn’t,
please contact your retailer. If the second appliance also doesn’t work the problem is likely to
be with your power socket.
My freezer is making a gurgling noise
All Labcold freezers work by condensing an environmentally friendly gas. This is what causes
the shelves of the freezer to get cold, and as part of this process the gas has to be compressed
into liquid. This is why sometimes you will hear gurgling sounds coming from the freezer.
There is excessive ice in my freezer
This can occur for a variety of reasons:
• The room is too warm/cold or even damp
• The door has been left open
• The freezer has not been defrosted - we estimate that most sparkfree freezers with normal
use may require defrosting every six months.
The freezer is rocking
This is because the freezer is not on a level surface. Check that the feet have been adjusted so
the top is level and the freezer is standing on a hard surface.
What does the code mean on the display?
Code Displayed Description Action Required
Id Door open alarm Close the door
dEF Defrost in operation None - no fault
Freezer in standby mode Press for 3 seconds
AH High temperature alarm Press button to mute
AL Low temperature alarm Press button to mute
My independent thermometer shows a different temperature to the front of the freezer
Your Labcold sparkfree freezer has a probe placed at the rear of the freezer and the temperature
displayed is calculated by analysing and averaging the temperature data collected by the
probe. A thermometer placed in a different part of the freezer may read a slightly different
temperature especially if it is placed close to the door or at the top or bottom of the freezer as
these are the areas where the greatest temperature uctuations occur.
My freezer won’t start after a power cut
This is because the compressor may have stopped mid cycle. Either keep it plugged in and
wait for it to start, or unplug the freezer and plug it back in to restart the compressor.
Trouble Shooting
Press for 3 seconds
