1. Product description
The digital remote control DFW HZR with integrated room sensor allows to adjust the heating controller from
afar. That means, all important adjustments of the heating system, like changing the day and night setpoint
room value or choosing the operating mode, can be done directly and comfortable from the living room at the
remote control. In addition the remote control registers the room temperature and the heating controller
analyses the temperature (room influence). To assure this function a constant bi-directional data-exchange is
carried out between remote control and heating controller.
The digital remote control DFW HZR can be installed in connection with the heating controllers LATHERM
HZR OMFORT and LATHERM HZR E.

3. Safety advices
The remote control corresponds to the appropriate safety regulations.
ANGER
anger to life due to electric shock!
Only trained, competent and authorised persons (electrical technician according to DIN VDE
1000-10 and BGV A3) are allowed to do mounting, electrical installation and commissioning,
maintenance and repair work at the remote control!
Follow all local regulations of the responsible energy service providers!
Ensure that the power supply is switched off and that the remote control cannot be switched on
before starting installation or repair work on electrical equipment.
Never work on current conducting parts!
!
Attention!
Never bring easily inflammable materials near to the remote control!
Protect the remote control against humidity, coldness, heat, dust and strong sunlight!
The remote control may be damaged, even if it falls down of a low height!
The remote control is only allowed to be operated in perfect technical condition. Damages, that
affect safety or the proper functioning of the remote control, have to be removed at once by com-
petent and authorised persons!
4. Warranty and liability
All regulations about warranty and liability are defined in the general terms and conditions of the manufacturer
or in the particular contractual relationship. Warranty and liability claims are generally excluded in these cases:
if damages result of inappropriate use of the remote control
if the housing had been opened unauthorised, unauthorised structural modifications or adjustments on the
controller software had been implemented
if the electrical technician had executed mounting or repair work improperly
if safety advices or instructions of the operating or the commissioning manual had been ignored
5. Location of the manual
This operating and commissioning manual has to be handed out to the technician before mounting work is
started. It has to be stored in readable condition near to the remote control in order to ensure quick access if
needed.
6. Transport and storage
Prove carefully, if there are damages at the packaging or at the remote control.
Only transport the remote control in the original packaging.
The remote control may be damaged, even if it falls down of a low height.
Avoid hits or shocks and extreme temperatures during transport and storage (below 0 ° , above
+ 50 ° ).
The remote control may only be storaged in the original packaging and in dry surrounding areas.

1. Select a suitable mounting location in the room, in
which the temperature should be adjusted (e.g. liv-
ing room). Take care, that no external heat can in-
fluence the remote control!
2. Remove the housing cover of the remote control!
Here it is important to press the housing cover
slightly together at the top and at the bottom side!
3. Mark the two mounting holes (see drawing) and
drill (Ø 5 mm), fit in the enclosed dowels!

Patch the eBus connection (+ and -) of the heating controller directly with the bipolar connecting terminal of
the remote control. The polarity need not to be observed! A suitable strain relief has to be provided!
The low voltage conducting lead has to be laid separately to power supply voltage conducting leads. Now
mount the clamp cover again on the heating controller and clip on the housing cover of the remote control.
The digital remote control is automatically detected by the heating controller during the first commis-
sioning of the remote control. This procedure may last a few seconds!

Your remote control has a clearly arranged display, which indicates information (e.g. about actual tempera-
tures) and which helps you to adjust values. The starting display appears, when the remote control is properly
activated and in operation. This is the basic structure of the starting display. If your heating specialist has
chosen other adjustments at the heating controller or at the heating system, different symbols may partly
appear:

11. Functions and adjustments
11.1. Basic information about the menu navigation
With only four keys you can adjust your heating controller or your heating system. With the keys you can get
from the starting menu (an example is shown on the previous page) into every submenu to see the desired
values of the heating system or to change them. Please consider, that values can only be changed at the
remote control, if these values or dates are enabled for changing by the manufacturer. The display lightening
is switched on automatically, if a key is pressed for the first time. The lightening is switched off 30 seconds
after the last key has been pressed.
Attention!
The adjustments at the digital remote control have always priority to the adjustments at the heating
controller!
Please also consider the operating and the commissioning manual of the heating controller for all
works and adjustments at your digital remote control.

Time and date can not be adjusted at the remote control. This can only be done at the heating
controller.
Please check the following points, if your remote control does not operate successfully:
1. The communication to the heating controller is disturbed or there is an error at the heating controller, if the
display permanently shows FEHL.
2. The electrical connection is correct, if the display shows a meaningful information. In case there is no
information on the display, check if the device is connected correctly.
3. heck if there is an error, that is described in the commissioning manual of the heating controller.
Replace the digital remote control or the heating controller, if the error still exists after checking the above
mentioned points.
