The Leopard Imaging USB 3.0 Camera kit, bundled with Cypress EZ-USB FX3
CYUSB3KIT-001 Development Kit, enables the Cypress USB 3.0 platform to interface
with the Leopard Imaging LI-CAM-M114 Camera Board. The kit includes the LI-
USB30-ADAPTER board as well as the LI-CAM-M114 camera board.
This document briefly illustrates the procedure to set up and run the USB 3.0 Camera
demo.

1. Setup procedure
This procedure assumes that the user has already installed the EZ-USB FX3 SDK as well
as the driver for Cypress USB Boot Loader and has the EZ-USB FX3 development board.
Please follow the procedure below to set up the USB 3.0 camera demo.
a. Mount the camera board to the LI-USB30-ADAPTER. Please note that pin 1 of the
camera board should be connected to pin 1 on the adapter board as shown in the picture

below. (Pin 1 is the pin that has square soldering pad). Please refer to the pictures below
as reference for correct mounting position.
LI-CAM-M114 on Top of the Adapter Board
b. On the Cypress development board, please make sure
J125 is open
On J42, J45, J96 & J97, jumpers should be installed to short pin 2 and pin 3.
A jumper should be installed on J156.
Jumpers should be installed at V3P3 on J134, J136, J144, J145 and J146.
On J72, a jumper should be installed on pin 1 and pin2.
For J135, a jumper should be installed on the two pins away from the DB9 connector. (see below)
For J53, a jumper should be installed on the two pins close to SW9 (as shown below)
No other jumpers need to be installed for this demo. For other jumper settings, please
refer to the Cypress EZ-USB FX3 CYUSB3KIT-001 Development Kit documentation.

c. Mount the adapter board onto the Cypress development board via J77 on the
development board as shown in the image below.
d. Connect the Cypress development board to the USB 3.0 port on the PC via a USB 3.0
cable. Power on the Cypress development Board.
e. On the hosting PC, open the Cypress “Control Center” (Start -> All Programs -> Cypress
-> Cypress USBSuite -> Control Center)

f. In the Control Center, select the “Cypress USB BootLoader Device”, choose “Program” -
> “FX3” -> “RAM” and open the firmware image (cyfxuvc.img)
g. When the program finishes, the kit will be identified by the PC as an USB camera. The
Device name is FX3. The driver will automatically install, which may take some time.

h. Open an application (such as Amcap) to view the live streaming.
If you’re using Amcap, you may need to choose the FX3 device from the dropdown list.
If you’re using GraphEdit, please create a graph as below and press play.
