General Knowledge of Laundry
Preparation for Laundry Please follow the next instructions to prevent damage to clothes and/or washer failure.
Check the following for prevention of
damage to clothes and the washer.
Check the care label of clothes for the ways in
which they are washable. (11P)
Close zippers or hooks if there are any.
Do not wash clothes stained with cold cream or
olive oil.
Remove foreign obstacles.
If coins or metals are in the laundry, it may dam-
age the clothes, break the drum and make noise.
Thus, check before washing.
Brush off the dirt and soil on clothes.
Pretreat stains before washing.
Sort clothes for laundry.
Sort clothes with colored, whites, dark colored
and lint producers.
Wash blankets separately from clothes. Other-
wise, the blankets and clothes will be divided in
the drum causing the load to be out of balance
resulting in abnormal washing.
If more than two blankets are loaded, they may
get tangled and unbalance in the drum. Thus,
wash one blanket at a time.
Memory
wire
Please note!
Although the washing drum is made of stainless steel and is not easy to become rusted, there can be rust from the following cases.
If easily rusted metals such as safety pins or hair pins are left in the drum for a long period
If water with high iron content has been used for a long time
If water or chlorine bleach has been kept inside the drum for a long time
If rust occurred in the drum, wipe the rusted part with neutral detergent on a sponge or soft cloth. (Do not use a metal sponge.)

Warnings regarding the use of detergent
Add an appropriate amount of detergent, referring to the detergent amounts table.
1) Drum washing machines use 1/3 the water of general washers since they use head drop in washing. Thus
you should use only 1/3 the detergent of general washers as well.
2) For lightly soiled laundry, reduce the amount of detergent. Too much detergent may result in too much suds
and leftover bubbles even after rinsing.
3) Reduce the amount of detergent since it has better washing power with good suds in fine quality water (soft
water).
4) Liquid detergent is easy to dilute in water and makes good suds. Thus, reduce the amount of detergent
added.
For the underwear and baby’s clothes with cottons, most of the contamination on the clothes are fats and
proteins that are more effective in cleaning when washing with higher temperature and more rinses instead of
adding more detergent.
Too much detergent may cause those problems.
1) It may not be able to proceed with the normal RINSE cycle for the long rinse because of excess suds.
2) There may be bubbles left over on the clothes even after last spin.
Natural powdered detergent does not dilute well in water which causes leak or the failure of the washer. Make
sure to dilute in warm water before adding.
The amount of detergent for PREWASH is less than half of the MAIN WASH.
Add detergent before starting since the water supplying time is short.
If the detergent dispenser drawer is wet, the flushing of detergent may not be smooth. Therefore, it is more
effective to add detergent after wiping out the water on the drawer.
Draining water may look murky but it does not mean it needs more rise since the draining water with lint, zeo-
lite, fabric softener, etc. gets vapors after they are through the fast rotating draining pump propeller.
Usage of Fabric Softener
Compartment for
detergent in the
main wash
Add fabric
softener
Detergent for

Max fill line
Fabric softener will be automatically dispensed during the last
rinse cycle.
Do not exceed the maximum fill line. (Overfilling can cause direct
dispensing.)
Do not leave the fabric softener in the dispenser drawer for
over two days. (It may become hardened and not be dispensed
automatically.)
Do not use concentrated fabric softener. (It may not be dispensed.)
If the fabric softener compartment is wet, take out the drawer and
wipe the water out before pouring the fabric softener.
The last draining water may look murky from the fabric softener
dispensed in the last rinse cycle.
Guide for Fabric Softener Addition
Please note!
Do not use tissue type detergent or a fabric
softener. It may clog the detergent drop
which may cause a leak or failure.
Add fabric softener always in the right
detergent compartment before washing,
and push the detergent drawer in gently to
close it. (Slopping fabric softener may get
into the drum.)

Please note!
Drum washing machines use less water since they wash by
spinning and head dropping wet laundry.
It may seem like there is no water inside the drum during
washing, but that is normal as long as the laundry is wet enough.
A splashing sound during the washing cycle is due to the
dropping of the laundry while spinning and it is normal.
Laundry that absorbs a large amount of water for their small
size such as knitwear or foot mats need to be washed two or
more items at a time. If only one item is washed it may be out of
balance due to the one sided weight causing thereby the short
life service of the washer.
The amount of laundry is based on the test
laundry by the Korean Standard. Depending
on the type and volume of the laundry, the
actual amount of laundry may be different
from the specification.
The door cannot be opened during the operation or when the ‘Door Lock’ light

Drum washer wash by beating style so that towels can be felt roughly for the settled strands. Fabric softener will help to minimize the settling of
the strands and make laundry softer.
The washing time may take longer if laundry with absorbed water is entered.
Please note!
The laundry time can be different for the load amount. Even if the amount is small, if it is wet, the washer detects that as a heavy
and large load. Thus, it will take longer time to finish.
This displays 15 minutes of remaining time if the laundry is small with 3 to 4 shirts.

Wash duvets separately from the clothes, as those are divided in the tub causing an error from being out of balance.
It may take a little longer to spread the unbalanced blanket evenly during the spinning.
Washing one blanket at a time is recommended regardless of its size for a cleaner result. If two blankets with different
materials are washed together, the spinning may not work properly because it will be imbalanced.
Do not load bedclothes rolled up. Spread them out evenly and fill up to only 80% or less of the drum.
When out of balance, take out the bedclothes, spread them out evenly and reload.
When loading the bedclothes, push
them into the drum firmly. If a blanket is
caught in between the glass door and
rubber gasket, there damage might be
caused to the laundry and the washer.
