How To Program TV Consoles
Special service tools required: none
Description: Procedures for programming a.)
EZ consoles (on this page) and b.) TV consoles
with remote control units (on page 2).
Kit Contents: Programming device and cable
(see illustration). A 9-volt battery (not
supplied) is required to reprogram the TV
console.
Procedure: In both procedures, the TV
console stays mounted and the power and
coax cables stay plugged in (see illustration).
To program the TV on EZ console products:
1. Remove the EZ console cable from the
black 8-pin connector on the back of
the console.
2. Plug the C-SAFE cord into that 8-pin
connector.
3. Place the 9-volt battery in the
programmer.
4. Plug the other end of the C-SAFE cord
into the programmer.
5. The programmer will give this
feedback that the updating procedure
is taking place:
a. The green LED will glow
steadily.
b. The yellow LED will then glow
steadily.
c. The yellow LED will then begin
flashing.
d. The console software has been
updated when the green LED
begins flashing slowly.
6. Unplug the C-SAFE cord from the
programmer.
7. Unplug the C-SAFE cord from the
console.
8. Reconnect the EZ console cable.
9. Verify that the console’s software
version matches the software version on the programmer. If the console version
number is still lower, repeat the procedure.

How To Program TV Consoles - continued
To program TVs with remote control consoles:
1. Leave the remote control cable plugged in.
2. Plug the C-SAFE cord into the black 8-pin
connector on the back of the console.
3. Place the 9-volt battery in the programmer.
4. Plug the other end of the C-SAFE cord into
the programmer.
5. The programmer will give this feedback that
the updating procedure is taking place:
a. The green LED will glow steadily.
b. The yellow LED will then glow
steadily.
c. The yellow LED will then begin
flashing.
d. The console software has been
updated when the green LED begins
flashing slowly.
6. Unplug the C-SAFE cord from the programmer.
7. Unplug the C-SAFE cord from the console.
8. Verify that the console’s software version matches the software version on the
programmer. If the console version number is still lower, repeat the procedure.
