INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION OF MODEL EPI
-Remove unit from shipping carton
-Remove all protective materials
-Check for shipping damage or loose or broken parts
-Plug the unit into a 110 volt outlet and adjust controls according
to the application.
(See: "Placement of unit" and "Adjust/setting unit controls".)
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
Nature cleanses the air with the lightning and the rain. Lightning
bolts produce positive and negative ions which cleanse the air nat-
urally. Rain helps bring ions closer to the earth's surface. The ions
are then attracted to atmospheric contaminants and either removed
from the air, or attached to grounded objects.
The Living Air purification Model EPI produces billions of negative
or positive ions, which will function in two ways:
1. Airborne particles, contaminates, and pollution are electrically
charged, precipitated together, and they adhere to a grounded surface
or are then heavy enough to be influenced by gravitational forces.
2. Static electricity is directly related to an imbalance between
positive and negative ions. The Model EPI will create an equilib-
rium between the negative and positive charges in very high quan-
tities, thereby reducing the total static electrical imbalance.

5
IONS - INDOOR SPACE TRAVELERS
Living Air's ion field generator re-establishes the ratio of negative to
positive ions found in the outdoors. Ionized (charged) particles are
removed from the air by attraction to solid surfaces.
Positive (+) and Negative (-) Ions.

PLACING THE UNIT
Elevate the unit as much as possible to insure complete purification.
Some pollutants such as smoke rise and the unit, when elevated,
can more effectively eliminate the pollutant.
The Living Air Model EPI is most effective when placed in a posi-
tion that allows the ions to be spread evenly and be thoroughly
mixed with the polluted air. Suggested locations, listed in the order
of preference:
1) In or near the air stream or current within the room that
will best disperse the ions.
2) Nearest the source of the worst pollution.
3) In the area most heavily used to achieve maximum benefit.
FOR MAXIMUM CONTROL, THE IONIZER SHOULD BE
PLACED WHERE EASY ACCESS TO THE CONTROLS IS
POSSIBLE.
THE UNIT SHOULD ALWAYS BE PLACED AT LEAST ONE
INCH AWAY FROM THE WALL TO ACHIEVE UNRESTRICTED
AIR FLOW.

6
ADJUST/SETTING CONTROLS
1. FAN CONTROL
The disbursement of ions is best accomplished with good
air circulation. The fan control should be set as high as
possible without creating an undesirable noise level. This
will be determined by personal preference and the distance
you wish the ions to be dispersed.
APPLICATIONS
COMPUTER ROOMS ANIMAL DANDER COPY ROOMS
SAW DUST AIRBORNE BACTERIA DUST
STATIC ELECTRICITY PHOTO LABS PRINTERS
AGRICULTURE DUST FEATHER DUST SMOKE
PLASTIC OPERATIONS * AND MANY OTHERS
The Living Air Model EPI is designed for heavy duty removal of
airborne particles and pollution from the air. The system is effective
in the range of air movement. The use of auxiliary air moving
equipment such as fans and recirculation equipment will help to
increase its effective range. The Model EPI will cover approxi-
mately 1500 square feet without auxiliary air movement.
MAINTENANCE/TROUBLESHOOTING
Rear screen of filter cleaning -
When visibly dirty, remove the filter screen from the back of the
unit and wash it with warm soapy water. Dry completely before
reinstalling. DO NOT WASH IN A DISHWASHER!

7
The Ion Generator -
The electronic ionizer may need periodic cleaning of the needles.
Energy may be stored in the circuitry, even though the unit is
unplugged. Discharge each set of needles to a grounded object
by using a wire with an inch of insulation stripped from each end.
Connect one end of the wire to a grounded object, such as a water
pipe, and touch the other end to each set of needles.
(Remove 2 screws at the base of each ion
needle assembly for easier access to the
needles.) Clean them with a cotton swab
and alcohol. The indicator lights inside the
unit will not light if the ions are not being
produced; however, the fan may continue
to operate.
Cleaning the fan -
The fan requires no maintenance except on rare occasion it may
be necessary to give it a gentle push the first time it is used. If the
fan squeaks, a drop of lightweight oil may be needed on the fan
shaft.
Troubleshooting - What to look for first
Is the unit plugged in?
Are you sure the outlet is active?
Is the unit off/on switch activated?
Is the rear filter screen installed properly to depress the safety switch?
Warranty
Living Air Purification Products are of solid state construction and
carry a full three- year limited warranty, from the date of purchase, to
be free from defect in materials and workmanship. See warranty card.
