• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8
years and above and persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a
safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with this appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made
by children without supervision.
• Do not cover the toasting compartment whilst in operation.
• Donotoperateinthepresenceofexplosiveand/orammablefumes.
• Ensure adequate space around, above and beneath to permit free circulation of air around the toaster.
• Donotplacenearorcomeincontactwithammablematerial(curtains,draperies,furnishings,wallpaper
etc) whilst in operation.
• Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces of the pads can break off and touch electrical parts
involving a risk of electric shock.
• Do not insert oversized breads, food wrappers, metal foil packages, metal utensils into the toaster.
• Burns can occur from touching the hot metal parts. Use handles or knobs provided.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

BEFORE COMMENCING TOASTING
Ensure that:
1. Beforerstuse,itisadvisabletocleanandthen‘condition’thenon-stickcookingplatesurfaces.Clean
with a damp cloth, wipe dry and then smear the non-stick plates with butter, margarine, cooking fat or oil,
wipingoffanyexcess.Butterisrecommended,asmargarineorcookingoilscanleavealmonthe
plateswhichcouldthenbedifculttoremoveaftertoasting.
2. Plug the unit into an AC Mains outlet. The mains power comes ON as soon as the plug is inserted and
isconrmedbytheREDLEDindicatorlightingup.
3. Keeping the sandwich toasting lid closed will allow the plates to heat up for approximately 3-5 minutes.
4. TheGREENLEDindicatorwillnotilluminatewhentheunitisrstpluggedintothemains,thiswillcome
ON, to indicate the unit is “ready to toast” or “ready to use” when temperature is reached.
NOTE: During toasting this “ready” GREEN indicator light will continually cycle ON & OFF, indicating that the
built in thermostat is maintaining correct toasting temperatures.
5. Thepreparationofbreadandllingsfordesiredsandwichroundscanalwaysbecarriedoutwhilst
the appliance is preheating, so that once the GREEN “ready” LED goes On, you are ready to proceed
with toasting.
6. For golden toasted sandwiches, it is recommended that butter be spread on the outside of the bread.
7. Position a slice of bread, buttered side down, on to either the left or right heated plate. Spoon the
preparedllingsontothebreadandcoverwiththesecondsliceofbread,thistimebutteredsideup.
Nowcarefullyclosethelidandlockitshut.(Note:Donotforcethelidshut.)
8. Allowtheroundofsandwich(forrounds,ifbothsetsoftoastingplateshavebeenused),totoastfor
approximately 3 to 5 minutes, varying the time to suit individual taste. You can always open the lid to
inspect whether the toast has browned to your satisfaction.
9. Theuniquecutandsealactioncutsyourtoastsorsnack“toasties”inhalves,andsealsintheavour
andllings.
NOTE:Whenusingyoursandwichtoasterforthersttime,youmaynoticeanesmokehazeemittedfrom
the unit. This is due to the “break in” of certain components and there is no cause for alarm.
HINTS FOR USE
1. Always pre-heat your sandwich toaster before use, so that toasting can commence once the “ready”
GREEN LED goes ON.
2. Prepare sandwiches for toasting in one of two ways. One is to prepare the sandwich complete with
llingsandthencookit.Theotheristopreparethesandwichdirectlyontheheatedplates.Thismethod
isbestwhenthellingsaretobepiledontoratherthanspreadalongthebread.Usewhichevermethod
youndeasiest.
3. Thecookingplatesonyourunitarecoatedwithadurablenon-stickcoating.Somellingssuchas
cheese may melt and cause the sandwich to stick to the sandwich toaster. To free the sandwiches use
a plastic or wooden spatula. Never use a sharp metal object such as a knife as this will damage the non-
stick surface.
4. Ifinsufcientllingsareused,thetoastedsandwicheswillbebrownedunevenly,withdarkersealed
edges.
5. Fillingsbecomeveryhotwhiletoasting,sobecarefulandallowsufcienttimeforcoolingbeforeeating.
6. Suggested garnishes for savoury sandwiches; lettuce, parsley, mint, cress, stuffed olive halves, onion,
tomato etc.
OPERATION

MAINTENANCE:
This appliance has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper care and regular cleaning.
1. After use, and before cleaning, unplug the unit from the AC Mains and wait for the appliance to cool.
2. Wipe the insides and the edges of the plates with absorbent paper towelling or a soft cloth.
3.Shouldanyllingbedifculttoremove,pourasmallamountofcookingoilontotheplatesandwipeoff
after 5 minutes when the food residue has softened.
4. Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth, ensuring that no moisture, oil or grease enters
the appliance.
Do Not clean the inside or outside with of the unit with any abrasive scouring pads or steel wool as this will
damagethenish.

• NEVER IMMERSE THE TOASTER IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID

SERVING SUGGESTIONS
There are many combinations of ingredients you can put inside two slices of bread, but for something a little
different why not try pre-rolled puff pastry sheet cut down to sandwich size, or pitta bread. Always place
buttered side of bread against the plates. Butter is not necessary inside the sandwich, but will, of course,
enhancetheavourifadded.Youcouldalsotryotherspreadsinyoursandwichessuchaspatès,pastes,
savourysauces,mustards,chutneysetc.Hereareafewsuggestedsandwichllingstostartyouoff.

IMPORTANT:
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
BLUE: NEUTRAL(N)
BROWN: LIVE(L)
GREENANDYELLOW: EARTH(E)
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings
identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “N” or coloured BLACK.
The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “L” or coloured RED.
The GREEN AND YELLOW wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “E”, the
symbol or coloured GREEN.
DO NOT CONNECT ‘L’ OR ‘N’ WIRE TO THE EARTH TERMINAL OF A 3-PIN PLUG
Always ensure that the Mains Cord is located into the Plug through the Cord Guard or Cable Clamp, and that
theCordGuardscrewsaretightenedtoclamptheCord(outersheathandinnercolouredwires)inposition
inthePlug.MakesurethePlugtopisalsottedsecurely.
