Congratulations on purchasing a high-quality MAGINON® product.
You have acquired a modern digital camera with excellent technical features and
respective accessories, which is particularly easy to operate.
Please study this information in detail observing, in particular, the safety instructions.
The device comes with a 3-year warranty. You will need the enclosed warranty card and
your sales receipt in the event of the camera developing a fault.
Keep these in a safe place together with the Instruction Manual.
Please include the Instruction Manual when passing on the camera to a third party.

3. Hazard, safety and warning notices
Incorrect use of the camera and accessories can be dangerous for you and others and
can damage or destroy the camera. We therefore ask you to read and strictly observe
the following Hazard, safety and warning notices.
Intended use
This camera is intended for taking digital photos and video clips. It has been
designed for private use and is not suitable for commercial purposes.
Hazards for children and persons with limited ability to
operate electronic equipment
The camera, accessories and packaging are not toys for children to play with and
should be kept away from children. There could be a risk of electrocution,
poisoning and suffocation.
The camera and accessories may not be used by children or persons with a limi
ted ability of operating equipment. The camera may only be used by persons that
are physically and mentally able to safely operate this device.
Electrical hazard
Switch off camera and remove batteries if a foreign body or liquid has entered
the camera. Wait until completely dry, as otherwise danger of fire and
electrocution.
Switch off camera and remove batteries if camera has been dropped or housing is
damaged, as otherwise danger of fire and electrocution.
The camera may not be dismantled, modified or repaired, as otherwise danger of
fire and electrocution..
Only use a power supply (not supplied) with the rated input voltage (6V, min. 500
mA) specified on the rating plate, as otherwise danger of fire and electrocution.
Disconnect camera from power by pulling the power supply out of the socket.
Connected power supplies (not supplied) can continue consuming power and can
represent a hazard.
A power supply (not supplied) may not be used during thunderstorms, as danger
of electrocution.

Danger from heat - re hazard
Do not leave camera in places that are susceptible to considerable increases in
temperature (e.g. a vehicle). The housing and internal parts may be damaged,
which in turn could cause a fire.
Do not wrap up camera or place on textiles. This could produce a build-up of heat
in the camera that can cause deformation of the housing and may represent a fire
hazard.
Hazards of using batteries
Remove batteries from camera if camera is not used for some time.
Do not remove batteries immediately after camera has been used for a longer
period of time. Batteries may become hot during use.
Risk of explosion in case of incorrect changing of batteries or use of wrong type
of batteries.
Only use 1.5 V LR6 (AA) batteries or NiMH rechargeable batteries with the same
specification.
Never expose batteries to excessive heat, such as direct sunlight, fire, etc., as
otherwise danger of fire and explosion. Consequently do not store batteries near
fire, stoves or other sources of heat.
Never store batteries at temperatures below 10oC or over 40 oC .
Keep batteries out of reach of children.
Never store or transport batteries in pockets or toolboxes or similar, where there is
a danger of the batteries coming into contact with metal objects.
Batteries may not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited, excessively discharged,
deformed or taken apart, as otherwise risk of fire and explosion.
Never touch leaking batteries without respective protection. If hands come into
contact with battery acid, wash with plenty of water and soap.
Avoid battery acid coming into contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes,
rinse eyes with plenty of water and contact doctor immediately
Batteries must be disposed of in line with the Battery Directive.
Injuries and material damage
Only place camera on sturdy surfaces. The camera could otherwise fall or topple
over, causing damage or injury.

Do not operate camera whilst running or driving. You could fall or cause a traffic
accident.
Only use a power supply (not supplied) with the input voltage (6V, min. 500 mA)
specified on the rating plate. No liability shall be accepted for damage caused by
the use of an incorrect power supply.
The 230V socket used for the power supply must be accessible at all times so that
the power supply can be quickly disconnected from the mains if necessary.
Ensure adequate ventilation and do not cover the power supply (not supplied) to
prevent overheating.
Do not place any open ignition sources, such as lit candles onto or close to the
device.
Ensure that the LCD display is not subjected to impacts or concentrated
pressure. This could damage the glass of the display or cause the display liquid to
leak out. In case of the liquid coming into contact with eyes or skin, rinse
immediately with clean water. In case of contact with eyes, consult doctor
immediately.
Damage to the electronics or housing caused by external influences, such as
electric shocks, falls or others are not covered by the warranty and shall thus be
charged for.
Do not drop or bump camera and always handle with due care as the camera
could otherwise be damaged.

4. Introduction
The MAGINON® WK 1 is a wildlife and surveillance camera with a 3-zone infrared
sensor detecting sudden changes in ambient temperature within an evaluation area.
The signals of the highly sensitive PIR (passive infrared sensor) activate the camera,
triggering photo or video recordings.
Features of MAGINON® WK 1 wildlife and surveillance camera:
• 5 mega pixels CMOS sensor.
• Sharp and clear color day-time images and clear black & white night-time images.
• Very low power consumption in standby mode. Extremely long operating time (in
standby mode up to three months with 4 AA batteries and up to 6 months with
8 AA batteries)
• The unique design of the sensor off ers a wider angle of detection and improves the
camera´s response time.
• Can be used under extreme operating conditions from -30°C to 70°C.
• Compact design (approx. 13.4 x 8.4 x 4.8 cm without tree xing). Ideally suited for
covert use .
• Impressive triggering time (0.8 seconds).
• Extremely simple set-up and alignment of camera due to easy-to-use mounting
strap.
• The serial number function permits encoding of the location on the images. This
allows users of several cameras to easily identify the location when viewing photos.
• Date, time, temperature and lunar phase can be included on images.
• Can be locked and password protected.
• Alarm in case of low battery power.

5.2. View from below
Under the base ap, the camera has the following connections and operating
elements:
Mini USB connection (USB 2.0) for connecting the camera to a computer to down
load photos and videos.
A SD or SDHC memory card must be inserted in the memory card slot to store
photos or videos.
Using the TV output (TV Out) the camera can be connected to the AV input of your
TV using the supplied AV cable in order to show the monitor image:
An external power supply can be connected via the DC IN socket (6V, min. 500 mA,
mains adapter, not supplied).
Using the Mode switch, the main operating modes OFF, ON and TEST can be
selected.
Briefly depress battery compartment cover to open compartment. 4 batteries can
be inserted in this compartment.

5.4. Power supply
As a power supply we recommend the use of four new high-performance alkaline
1.5V LR6 (AA) batteries or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries with low self discharge (not
supplied). Attach the additional battery compartment holding four further LR6 (AA)
batteries to achieve a longer operating time. Alternatively the camera can be
operated with an external 6V (min. 500 mA) DC power supply (not supplied).

5.5. Installation of tree xing and battery compartment
If you wish to operate the camera with the maximum number of 8 batteries, insert 4
batteries in the provided battery compartment prior to securing the tree xing. For
this purpose open the protective battery cover of the tree xing by slightly pushing
up the safety lever (S) before pulling it out.
Insert batteries as shown in the above illustration. Ensure, in particular, that the
batteries are inserted the right way up. Once the batteries have been inserted, close
the battery compartment so that the safety lever (S) audibly engages in the catch.
To secure the tree xing to the wildlife camera, hold the camera so that the lens faces
forwards and the tree xing and retaining bolt face backwards. Insert the hook (1) on
the right side of the back of the camera into the lug (2) on the right side of the tree
xing. Turn the tree xing on the wildlife camera until the catch also securely engages
on the left side (3).

Push the closing latches (4) on the side of the tree xing forwards until they are
positioned in the provided recess (5) of the camera. To secure, fully pull back black
safety catch (6). Insert retaining bolt into rear of tree xing and tighten.
Use the supplied mounting strap to secure camera to a tree or other objects. The
below illustrations show how to secure the mounting strap.
Position wildlife camera in the desired position and pull tight the loose end of the
mounting strap until the camera is secure.
To release the mounting strap again pull the lug of the xing strap.

5.6. Using the wall bracket
Using the supplied wall bracket the camera can be secured to walls or ceilings. Prior
to securing the wall bracket, ensure that all bolts have been securely tightened.
Hold the base of the wall bracket against the intended place of installation and mark
the position of the holes to be drilled (A). Use a 6 mm masonry drill for securing the
bracket to stone or concrete. After drilling, fully insert dowels into holes to nish ush
with the wall. Secure bracket using bolts from the assembly kit.
Note that prior to installing the wildlife camera on the wall mounting, a memory card
and, where applicable, batteries have to be inserted or the power supply has to be
connected. The camera must also have been set to Standby mode.
Next, place camera on wall bracket screw (B) and screw camera onto thread a little
(approx. 3 turns). Turn the camera until correctly aligned and use locking bolt (C) to
lock in place. To move camera into its nal position undo both hinge screws (D) a
little, adjust camera and secure in position by tightening the two hinge screws (D).
Note:
• Before drilling, check that no cables are installed in the wall!

6. Quick start instructions
6.1. Inserting batteries
Observe the following when inserting the batteries.
• Open the cover on the base by opening the catch and folding open the cover
(see page 15).
• Push on the cover of the battery compartment and release again. The cover
opens.
• Insert 4 LR6 (AA) batteries. Ensure that the batteries are inserted as shown on
the cover.
• To close, push on the cover again until it clicks into the catch.
Note:
• Instead of LR6 (AA) batteries, also rechargeable Ni-MH batteries with the same
speci cation may be used. We recommend Ni-MH batteries with a low self discharge (not
supplied).
• An alarm is triggered if the battery voltage falls below 4.3V.

6.2. Inserting the memory card
The camera does not have any internal storage and does therefore not operate
without an inserted SD/SDHC memory
card.
Prior to inserting the memory card into
the card slot, ensure that the write
protection switch on the side of the
memory card is not in the “Lock” position
(see illustration).
If the camera display shows“SD card blocked”, remove memory card and
change write-protection position.
Insert the memory card as shown in the below illustration and press it into the slot
until it clicks into the catch. To remove the memory card push card in again and the
card is ejected.

The memory card should only be inserted or removed with the camera switched off . If
the memory card is inserted or removed when the camera is switched on, the camera
switches off automatically.
6.3. Locking the base ap
To lock and open the base ap turn the wing safety catch (F) into the positions shown
below. Always lock the base ap to prevent the base ap from detaching if the
camera is dropped.
To secure the camera further we recommend the use of a padlock, which can be
inserted through the opening below the base ap catch.
Note:
• Please note that the camera cannot be switched on until a SD/SDHC memory card has
been inserted.
• The camera supports SD/SDHC memory cards with up to 16 GB storage capacity.

6.4. Setting up the test mode
Set the camera mode switch to the TEST position to start the test mode. In this mode,
pictures or video recordings can be taken or the playback mode can be selected to
view existing pictures. The panel contains six function keys (see illustration) with the
following functions:
• Press the button to take video recordings with th the camera.
• Press the button to take photos with the camera.
• Press the SHOT button to manually take a photo or video recording. A photo
or video recording is then taken, depending on the camera setting and stored on
the memory card.
In the video mode the length of the manually lmed videos is not limited.
• Push the button to select the menu language of the MAGINON® WK 1 camera
if the menu is not activated. The selected language is briey shown on the display
in red.
Available languages are: German, Italian, French, Slovenian, Hungarian, English.

• Press the OK/REPLAY button to select the playback mode. Videos and photos can
be played back on the camera LCD or a connected TV monitor. By pressing the OK/
REPLAY button again you return from the playback mode to the recording mode.
Use the and buttons to change between photos.
To play back videos in the replay mode press the SHOT button.
When in replay mode, photos can be deleted by pressing the MENU button.
• Press the MENU button to start the Settings menu of the camera provided that the
video or photo mode has been selected. (Please note section 8.1 “Menu settings”of
this Instruction Manual).
When in replay mode, photos can be deleted by pressing the MENU button.
Press the MENU button again to end the menu.
6.5. Aligning the camera
The test mode is a useful facility to determine the optimum angle of detection and
the range of the sensor and should be used as follows:
Attach the camera at a height of approx. 1-2 meters to a tree and point the camera
in the desired direction. Now move slowly from one side to the other side of the set
range. Move parallel to the camera. Try diff erent angles and distances.
