Image Technology
As the digital era dawns, Marantz has models
that provide the best possible images
today…and tomorrow. Our HDTV-Ready
DL500 model incorporates Digital Light
Processing™ and a Multi Scan Converter to
display high quality HDTV signals (1080i,
720P, 480P, 480i). At the heart of the DL5500
model is the Digital Micromirror Device™
(DMD™), an optical semiconductor chip that
has an array of microscopic mirrors mounted
on a standard logic device. These tiny mirrors
operate as optical switches to create high
resolution, full color images, with close to 1
million mirrors contained on a single 0.8 inch
chip. Coupling the Digital Micromirror
Device™ with the newly developed
10-element lens system ensures maximum
picture performance, such as 1280 x 720
display resolution. The Flex Converter
converts both NTSC and 480i SDTV signals to
progressive scanned signals. This unit creates
pictures like Split, Picture in Picture, Surf 3
and Freeze. it automatically detects a DVD
movie with 24 frames per second recorded,
then converts to progressive scanned signal
with 60 frames per second. This makes a
smooth and natural picture without
overlapped fields.
Detailed and realistic Sound
The DL5500 delivers a surround sound field
with natural expansion and greater sense of
depth through its built in Dolby Digital®5.1
and Dolby Pro Logic®surround sound
decoding. The internal sound system features
a 60-Watt Bass Reflex Speaker System. A
center channel for crystal clear dialogue
complements the sub woofer. For non-
surround audio, there is MTS Stereo/SAP
w/dbx™ and a 5 Band Graphic as well as a
loudness control for enhanced sub-bass.
Personalized Convenience
The DL5500 provides all of the functionality
via the in/output terminals to optimize sound
processing through an extensive home
entertainment system. It features extremely
easy setup and programming, parental
control, screen adjust and an easy/
durable high-definition convergence. All are
accessible through the back-lit, universal
RC5500DL remote control. This versatile
remote incorporates all discrete codes,
optimizing easy system integration.
Personalized convenience is further enhanced
through a dual NTSC tuner for PIP and a dual
operational screen for multi program viewing
and search functions. So enjoy stunning
