General Motor Change Procedure
–Clipper Vac® Units –
You Will Need
●Phillips Screwdriver ●Utility Knife ●Wire Tool (works as a cutter / crimper)
●New Motor(s) ●Silicone Caulking ●5/16 Ratchet
Step 1 Unplug the Clipper Vac®.
Step 2 Unscrew wing nut from the bottom of your filter. Pull down on filter to
remove.
Step 3 Locate Lid. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from the lid.
Rotate screwdriver left to loosen screws. Cut the silicone seal away from the
lid.
Note: Tote®, Model 1® & Model 1A® models do not have a silicone seal.
Peel back foam.
Step 4 Using your wire cutters, cut the ground wire end closest to the motor.
Note: The ground wire is the yellow-green wire.
Step 5 Locate the white wire with the blue wire end. Gently pull up to unplug the
wire
Step 6 Locate the black wire with the brass wire end. Gently pull up to unplug the
wire
Step 7 Using your 5/16 ratchet, loosen the motor clamp.
Step 8 Remove Clamp. After the clamp is removed you should notice a little piece of
cardboard stuck to the black motor boot. Pull it off and set it aside.

Step 9 Make sure that you have a hold of the motor from the bottom. Using you
finger pop up the rubber boot and the motor will fall through the motor ring.
Step 10 Pull the motor down and out to remove.
Step 11 Insert the new motor up through the motor ring.
Note: For Tote® models you must insert the motor without the filter connected.
Step 12 Use a book, block, box, etc., to hold the motor high enough so you can fold
down the rubber boot.
Step 13 Using your fingers gently folds the rubber boot over the motor ring.
Step 14 Reinstall the Motor Clamp. Make sure the cardboard is inserted between the
rubber boot and the clamp. It is very important that this step is correct. The
cardboard is to insure that the clamp does not split the rubber boot.
Step 15 Using your 5/16 ratchet, tighten the motor clamp. Be Careful not to over
tighten.
Step 16 Locate the white wire with the blue wire end. Gently plug-in the wire
Step 17 Locate the black wire with the brass wire end. Gently plug-in the wire
Step 18 Using your wire strippers, strip the ground wire still connected to your unit.
Step 19 Twist together the ground wire from your unit with the new motor ground
wire. Insert twisted wires into the yellow wire cap. Turn wire cap until snug.
Wire cap correctly connected.
Step 20 Tuck all loose wires into the foam to make sure they do not get into the
motor.
Step 21 Make sure to plug in your unit and test run the motor before replacing the lid.
Step 22 Gently replace foam to its original position.
Note: If your unit is a Tote®, Model 1® or Model 1A® you do not need to reseal the
lid. Please skip steps 23, 24 and 26.

Step 23 Remove old excess silicone caulking from lid and unit with a utility knife. Seal
all around the top of the unit with new silicone.
Step 24 Replace the lid. Silicone may squeeze out, this is normal. It is important that
you allow your unit to sit overnight so that the silicone can dry. If silicone is
not allowed to dry properly, the lid may leak.
Step 25 Start each screw, do not tighten until all screws are started. If not, you will
not be able to get the last couple of screws in.
Step 26 Using your utility knife cut away the excess silicone.
