1.2 Safety instructions
When installing and operating the device, please ensure the compliance with all applicable
national and international installation, accident prevention and safety regulations. Failure to
observe these standards may result in personal injury and property damage.
Applications which have not been included (special applications) have to be discussed with our
“Service and Support” (suppor[email protected]).
Before mounting or dismantling the device please make sure that it is voltage-free. Any work on
the 230 VAC mains supply may only be carried out by qualified electricians.
The device has no spark protection. The housing must not be opened as long as there is still a
connection to the power supply. Do not use the device if there is a possible danger of gas or
dust explosions.
Please observe the information concerning the supply system which can be find on the label of
the relevant device.
The device may not be used if there is any damage to the device and / or to the power cable. In
case of any damage please contact our “Service and Support”.
Personnel requirements For safety reasons, our systems may only be mounted by authorised
and skilled personnel. Work on electrical installations or electrical line parts may only be carried
out by skilled and authorised persons.
General precautions The workplace must be kept clean and free of dangerous objects.
Sufficient lighting of the workplace must be provided.
1.3 Warranty and liability
Despite careful control of the content we assume no liability or guarantee for the topicality,
correctnes and completeness of the information provided.

According to our General Terms and Conditions liability will be assumed for any other defects
already existing upon delivery. The customer is not entitled to claim the supply of a new product.
The customer shall inspect the goods immediately upon receipt and inform the seller without
any delay, at the latest within 24 hours about any errors occured. In the event that the obligation
to inspect and give notice of defects is violated, the devices shall be deemed to have been
approved. Defects which are not immeditately visible must also be reported immediately after
their discovery.
Our warranty does not include any damage caused by failure to comply with the required
conditions or by improper handling.
In addition to this, the current version of microSYST Systemelectronic’s general terms and
conditions shall apply.
Certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
1.4 Disposal
Please dispose the devices and parts of devices which are no longer required according to local
provisions.

2 Start-up
2.1 Connection cable
2.1.1 Grounding
The metal housing of the units corresponds to protection class I, so the units require a protective
earth connection. The connection cable for the operating voltage must contain a protective earth
conductor with a sufficient cross-section.
2.1.2 Data- / supply line
The units comply with the current EU directive and are therefore correspondingly immune to
interference. When connecting operating voltage and data lines, please observe the following
instructions:
•Use suitable data cables for the respective data connection.
•The cable cross-sections must be sufficiently dimensioned.

2.3 Switching on / Switching off the device
• The device is switched on after the supply voltage has been supplied. When starting the
device the switch-on screen depends on the configuration of the device.
•You can switch off the device if you disconnect it from the power supply.

3 Configuration
Please note that the units may no longer function properly as a result of a faulty configuration. We
therefore recommend making a backup via the microSYST configuration software 2.x (hereinafter
referred to as “MKS 2.x”), as described subsequently.
3.1 Language setting
You can change the current language setting by clicking on Extras | Language in the menu bar
and selecting the desired language.
3.2 Saving the factory settings
Before making any changes, you should save the current status as a backup. To do this, proceed
as follows:
1. Connect to the unit and read out the current project from the unit. To do this, click on the
read button in the MKS 2.x
2. Then save the loaded project via the menu item File |Save as. . .
3.3 General
The configuration of the visualisation, as well as the installed hardware components, is carried
out exclusively via the MKS 2.x. The user interface of this software consists of three areas:
Project structure,Editor area and Settings and properties.

3.3.1 Project structure and layer view
The Project structure appears in the upper left window of the user interface. Here you can see
the control board, additional components, visualisation objects, elements from the editor window
as well as script and texts. Use the Layer tab to switch to the layer view where you can show,
hide and rename layers.
3.3.2 Properties and settings
In the lower area you will find the Properties and settings for the respective elements from the
project structure. Each element has different properties. Click on one of the elements in the tree
view to see and configure the possible settings and properties of the selected element.
3.3.3 Editor area
On the right side of the user interface, in the editor area, the editor elements and visualisation
objects that have already been selected are displayed realistically.
3.4 Read out / transfer / save configuration
3.4.1 Read out / transfer
Under Communication, you can choose from the following interfaces for the action being carried
out:
• Ethernet: Enter the IP address and the port. If you do not know the IP address, click on
Find Device and a new dialogue appears listing all accessible Ethernet participants.

• Serial interface (e.g. RS485): Select the COM port, baud rate and parity for the device.
Also enter the BUS address (=address of the control board).

• USB: Please note that this interface can only be used if the unit is connected to the PC via
USB. The device logs on to the PC with a virtual COM port, which is then preselected. If
several units are connected, you can choose between the virtual COM ports.

3.4.2 Save
You can save the currently loaded project by clicking on File | Save as in the menu bar. Now
select the path under and save the project. If you have already selected this, you can also click
on Save in the menu bar.

3.5 IP address configuration
To change the IP address of the display, the unit must be accessible via Ethernet. Click on
Display | Configure Interface. . . in the menu bar to open the Configure Interface dialogue and
select the IP address to be changed from the list. Adjust it accordingly under Configuration |
IP Address and then click on Change so that the unit assumes the IP address. If you close the
dialogue window with Close and assume IP, the new IP address is automatically entered in the
main window under Communication.

3.6 Configuration of the hardware components
Please note that each unit is delivered with a basic configuration. If you would like to change
this afterwards, you can make the desired adjustments with the help of the MKS 2.x. To do so,
please follow the description of the individual components below.
Note: Please note that only the components used by microSYST can be configured.
Components / additional boards:
The individual components / additional boards together form the microSYST peripheral bus
system (MPB) and can be combined or modified as required. With the MKS 2.x, the control
board and the individual components are configured in order to be able to output the desired
data on the unit.
In the following, the control board and the individual components are described in detail in their
respective functions and setting options.
