After installation work has been completed, explain the “Safety Precautions,” use,
and maintenance of the unit to the customer according to the information in the
Operation Manual and perform the test run to ensure normal operation. Both the
Installation Manual and Operation Manual must be given to the user for keeping.
These manuals must be passed on to subsequent users.

WARNING
(Risk of re)
This mark is for R32 refrigerant only. Refrigerant type is written on nameplate of outdoor unit.
In case that refrigerant type is R32, this unit uses a ammable refrigerant.
If refrigerant leaks and comes in contact with re or heating part, it will create harmful gas and there is risk of re.
Read the OPERATION MANUAL carefully before operation.
Service personnel are required to carefully read the OPERATION MANUAL and INSTALLATION MANUAL before operation.
Further information is available in the OPERATION MANUAL, INSTALLATION MANUAL, and the like.

mizetheriskofdamagefromearthquakes,typhoons,orstrongwinds.An
incorrectlyinstalledunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• Donotaltertheunit.Itmaycausere,electricshock,injuryorwaterleak-
age.
• Theunitmustbesecurelyinstalledonastructurethatcansustainits
weight.
• Theapplianceshallbestoredinawell-ventilatedareawheretheroomsize
correspondstotheroomareaasspeciedforoperation.
• If the air conditioner is installed in a small room or closed room, measures
mustbetakentopreventtherefrigerantconcentrationintheroomfrom
exceedingthesafetylimitintheeventofrefrigerantleakage.Shouldthe
refrigerantleakandcausetheconcentrationlimittobeexceeded,hazards
duetolackofoxygenintheroommayresult.
• Keepgas-burningappliances,electricheaters,andotherresources(igni-
tion sources) away from the location where installation, repair, and other air
conditionerworkwillbeperformed.
 Ifrefrigerantcomesintocontactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbe
released.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation.Ifrefrigerantcomes
intocontactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Allelectricworkmustbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianaccordingto
localregulationsandtheinstructionsgiveninthismanual.
• Do not use intermediate connection of the electric wires.
• Useonlyspeciedcablesforwiring.Thewiringconnectionsmustbemade
securelywithnotensionappliedontheterminalconnections.Also,never
splicethecablesforwiring(unlessotherwiseindicatedinthisdocument).
 Failuretoobservetheseinstructionsmayresultinoverheatingorare.
• Wheninstallingorrelocating,orservicingtheairconditioner,useonlythe
speciedrefrigerantwrittenonoutdoorunittochargetherefrigerantlines.
Donotmixitwithanyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthe
lines.
 Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhigh
pressureintherefrigerantline,andmayresultinanexplosionandother
hazards.

causemechanicalfailureorsystemmalfunctionorunitbreakdown.Inthe
worstcase,thiscouldleadtoaseriousimpedimenttosecuringproduct

• Theapplianceshallbeinstalledinaccordancewithnationalwiringregula-
tions.
• Thisapplianceisnotintendedforusebypersons(includingchildren)with
reducedphysical,sensoryormentalcapabilities,orlackofexperienceand
knowledge,unlesstheyhavebeengivensupervisionorinstructioncon-
cerninguseoftheappliancebyapersonresponsiblefortheirsafety.
• Childrenshouldbesupervisedtoensurethattheydonotplaywiththeair
conditioner.

• Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,its
serviceagentorsimilarlyqualiedpersonsinordertoavoidahazard.
• UseonlyaccessoriesauthorizedbyMitsubishiElectricandaskadealeror
anauthorizedtechniciantoinstallthem.
• Afterinstallationhasbeencompleted,checkforrefrigerantleaks.Ifrefrig-
erantleaksintotheroomandcomesintocontactwiththeameofaheater
orportablecookingrange,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Donotusemeanstoacceleratethedefrostingprocessortoclean,other
thanthoserecommendedbythemanufacturer.
• Theapplianceshallbestoredinaroomwithoutcontinuouslyoperating
ignitionsources(forexample:openames,anoperatinggasapplianceor
anoperatingelectricheater).
• Donotpierceorburn.
• Beawarethatrefrigerantsmaynotcontainanodour.
• Pipe-workshallbeprotectedfromphysicaldamage.
• Theinstallationofpipe-workshallbekepttoaminimum.

bereleased.

1.1. Beforeinstallation(Environment)
Caution:
• Donotusetheunitinanunusualenvironment.Iftheairconditionerisinstalled
inareasexposedtosteam,volatileoil(includingmachineoil),orsulfuricgas,
areasexposedtohighsaltcontentsuchastheseaside,theperformancecan
besignicantlyreducedandtheinternalpartscanbedamaged.
• Donotinstalltheunitwherecombustiblegasesmayleak,beproduced,ow,
oraccumulate.Ifcombustiblegasaccumulatesaroundtheunit,reorexplo-
sion may result.
• Donotkeepfood,plants,cagedpets,artwork,orprecisioninstrumentsinthe
directairowoftheindoorunitortooclosetotheunit,astheseitemscanbe
damagedbytemperaturechangesordrippingwater.
• When the room humidity exceeds 80% or when the drainpipe is clogged,
water may drip from the indoor unit. Do not install the indoor unit where such
drippingcancausedamage.
• Wheninstallingtheunitinahospitalorcommunicationso󰀩ce,bepreparedfor
noiseandelectronicinterference.Inverters,homeappliances,high-frequency
medicalequipment,andradiocommunicationsequipmentcancausetheair
conditionertomalfunctionorbreakdown.Theairconditionermayalsoa󰀨ect
medicalequipment,disturbingmedicalcare,andcommunicationsequipment,
harmingthescreendisplayquality.
1.2. Beforeinstallationorrelocation
Caution:
• Beextremely carefulwhen transportingthe units.Two ormore persons
areneededtohandletheunit,asitweighs20kgormore.Donotgraspthe
packagingbands.Wearprotectiveglovesasyoucaninjureyourhandson
thensorotherparts.
• Besuretosafelydisposeofthepackagingmaterials.Packagingmaterials,
suchasnails andothermetalorwooden partsmaycausestabsor other
injuries.
• Thermalinsulationoftherefrigerantpipeisnecessarytopreventcondensa-
tion.Iftherefrigerant pipeisnotproperlyinsulated,condensation willbe
formed.
1.3. Beforeelectricwork
Caution:
• Besuretoinstallcircuitbreakers.Ifnotinstalled,electricshockmayresult.
• Forthepowerlines,usestandardcablesofsu󰀩cientcapacity.Otherwise,a
shortcircuit,overheating,orremayresult.
• Wheninstallingthepowerlines,donotapplytensiontothecables.
• Besuretogroundtheunit.Iftheunitisnotproperlygrounded,electricshock
may result.
1.4. Beforestartingthetestrun
Caution:
• Turnonthemainpowerswitchmorethan12hoursbeforestartingoperation.
Startingoperationjustafterturningonthepowerswitchcanseverelydamage
the internal parts.
• Beforestartingoperation,checkthatallpanels,guardsandotherprotective
partsarecorrectlyinstalled.Rotating,hot,orhighvoltagepartscancause
injuries.
• Donotoperatetheairconditionerwithouttheairltersetinplace.Iftheair
lterisnotinstalled,dustmayaccumulateandbreakdownmayresult.
• Donottouchanyswitchwithwethands.Electricshockmayresult.
• Donottouchtherefrigerantpipeswithbarehandsduringoperation.
• Afterstoppingoperation,besuretowaitatleastveminutesbeforeturning
o󰀨themainpowerswitch.Otherwise,waterleakageorbreakdownmayresult.
• Placethermalinsulationonthepipestopreventcondensation.Ifthedrain-
pipeisinstalledincorrectly,waterleakageanddamagetotheceiling,oor,
furniture, or other possessions may result.
• Donotcleantheairconditionerunitwithwater.Electricshockmayresult.
• Tightenallarenutstospecicationusingatorquewrench.Iftightenedtoo
much,thearenutcanbreakafteranextendedperiod.
• Usecircuitbreakers(groundfaultinterrupter,isolatingswitch(+Bfuse),and
moldedcasecircuitbreaker)withthespeciedcapacity.Ifthecircuitbreaker
capacityislargerthanthespeciedcapacity,breakdownorremayresult.

In case of the rear pipe arrangement, make sure to remove the shaded portions from
the Dindependent piece. Then put the Dindependent piece back in initial position.
