Adjustment of a screen angle
Mocom Solstice™concave screen is a precision product which requires proper screen set up
procedures for maximum brightness. For the first few times we suggest that you position yourself at
the prime viewing audience position to ensure that the angle is set to the brightest position. If the
screen angle is not set correctly a substantial amount of image brightness will be lost. Finish adjusting
the zoom, focus and keystone alignment of the projector.
Points to note
It is preferable that you do not have a large window directly opposite the
screen. Because
the
screen will not able to distinguish between two light
sources (the projector’s light and the light from the window) and will
reflect them both. The off-axis ambient light rejection of these screens is
astonishingly high. This is a particularly important factor in ceiling
mounting projector installations. Therefore, if the open window is behind
of the projector, install the projector on a table top; it will give a better
result than installing the projector near the window. These comments are
provided as a guide only and onsite conditions will dictate final result and
should be evaluated each time.
If possible, please dim the lights near the screen for better result.
Standard procedure
1) Select a projector with appropriate brightness performance
2) Select a position of the screen
3) Ca lib rat e t he d istance between the screen and the
projector
4) Secure space for adjusting up and down angles of the screen

Screen Alignment
Have your assistant stand at the audience position with a projector on and any image being projected
on the screen for testing. Loosen the left hand black knob; hold the side handle and tilt the screen slowly
right back and then forward tilt to maximum position.
You may need to do this a few times so your assistance becomes familiar with the change in
brightness as the screen travels through the arc swivel positions. As you tilt the screen there will be a
perfect position where maximum brightness is perceived. If you are demonstrating the screen in a
standup position your assistant should be standing upright at the intended viewing position. If your
clients are going to be sitting down then you should be at the eye height they would be sitting at. When
your assistant confirms the brightest angle, tilt the screen forward a fraction if the projector is in table
top position or backward if in ceiling mode. At this point tighten the black knob. The additional fractional
adjustment is to compensate for the weight of the screen as you transfer the support from you holding it
to the locking knob.
When the screen is installed on the wall
1) If you have to install the screen first due to interior wiring, the pre-installation of the screen
must be required because angle adjustment is not possible. After the pre-installation of the
screen, install the projector and have images projected on the screen. Then adjust an angle.
Otherwise, a brightness and resolution can be dramatically decreased.

17
2) For screen angle adjustment, tilt the screen up and down several times while video of a
projector is being turned on. Stop tilting at a viewer’s position where the brightest and clearest
image for a viewer is seen. Secure the position by using the angle adjuster or the anchor nut
(for MD-147 or more).
(Note: Because viewers, in the case of churches and pulpits, can be positioned either
downstairs or upstairs and other applicable places, you should check an up, down, left, and
right angle of the screen when viewed upstairs)
(You can adjust the angle by controlling the length of Angle Adjuster)
3) By watching while repeating sitting and standing at a viewer position, check whether there is
any variations in the screen brightness. If there are any variations, repeat the instruction of the
above paragraph 2. At the time of judgment, secure the screen.
4) If you have to install the screen first due to interior wiring, the pre-installation of the screen
must be required because angle adjustment is not possible. After the pre-installation of the
screen, install the projector and have images projected on the screen. Then adjust an angle.
Otherwise, a brightness and resolution can be dramatically decreased.
When the screen is installed using floor stand
1) Place the screen at a projection distance in order to optimize the image. (See the chart)
2) Tilt the screen up and down several times while video of a projector is being turned on. Stop
tilting at a viewer’s position where the brightest and secure the screen with the angle adjuster.

18
3) By watching while repeating sitting and standing at a viewer position, check whether there is any
variations in the screen brightness. If there are any variations, repeat the instruction of the
above paragraph 2. At the time of judgment, secure the screen with the angle adjuster.
4) In the case of a long projection distance, an image is larger than the screen. Either the screen or
the projector must be moved to match with the screen. If an image is projected to be displayed
smaller than the screen, increase a distance to have the screen filled.
