Introduction
Thank you for choosing Depth. Without
you, Depth wouldn’t exist. Depth is a fully
wireless underwater music player and
freediving computer. Depth was created
to enhance the experience of underwater
adventures like you. Depth’s features
have been crafted over hundreds of dives
and from feedback from hundreds of
freedivers, spearfishers and scuba divers.

Safety
Never freedive without a certified
freediving buddy who is trained to
save you in the case of a shallow water
blackout.
Failure to do so may result in personal
injury or death. Many freedivers have
died diving alone from shallow water
blackouts, don’t be one of them.
Depth should not be used as your only
method of tracking surface intervals
and other critical freediving safety
information.
You are responsible for the safety of yourself
and those around you while freediving.
Depth’s Freediving features are only for use by
certified freedivers. Failure to follow surface
intervals as defined in freediving certification
courses can lead to shallow water blackouts
and decompression sickness.
Never use Depth as your only method of
tracking surface intervals. Ensure you have
a backup time-keeping device to track your
surface intervals.
Safety
Violating surface intervals may result in
serious personal injury or death.
Depth is not designed to be used as
a scuba dive computer. Scuba diving
involves additional complexities and
considerations, such as decompression
obligations, gas mixtures and other
safety protocols, which are not accounted
for in the design and functionality of
Depth. Using Depth as a scuba computer
can lead to serious injury or death.
It does not incorporate the necessary
algorithms, calculations and safety features
required for scuba diving. It is crucial to
understand and respect the limitations of this
device to ensure your safety and the safety of
others.
Depth is capable of producing sound levels
that cause hearing damage. Listening to audio
at high volume levels for an extended duration
can lead to permanent hearing damage. It is
your responsibility to control Depth’s volume
and ensure it is set to a safe, comfortable and
functional level.

hardware overview
Depth is a fully-sealed device made of
a polymer casing with a lanyard hole,
multifunction button, indication LED,
mask clip interface rails and a pressure
sensor grill.
Its casing conducts vibrations from an
embedded bone conduction transducer,
allowing you to clearly hear music or
Depth’s vocal assistant.
Depth’s tap detection circuit is located
directly in the center of mass.

Device care
- Wash Depth thoroughly with fresh
water after each dive and let the pressure
sensor dry out.
- Never leave Depth in the sun or a hot
car for extended periods.
- Never drop Depth. Depth contains
sensitive electronics that can be
damaged by drops.
- Never charge Depth when the device is
at or near 0°C.
- Never crush Depth.
- Never expose Depth to temperatures greater
than 60°C.
- Never dive below 150m with Depth.
- If your Depth unit experiences any persistent
malfunctions or is significantly damaged,
please refer to the “Warranty + Repair”
section of this manual.

charging
Depth can be charged by placing it on
a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad.
Ensure you place Depth directly in the
center of its charging pad with the logo
facing down.
When charging, Depth’s indication LED
will illuminate yellow. It takes ~ 1.5
hours to fully charge from 0% battery.
Once Depth starts charging, it will
automatically switch to Bluetooth Mode.
This is an ideal time to adjust settings,
download dive logs and upload music.

tap detection
There are two ways of providing input to
Depth, pressing the multifunction button
and tapping.
Depth’s tap detection can detect single,
double, triple, 4x, 5x and 6x taps. For
the best results, tap Depth in the center
of either the front or back face.
Always ensure you perform taps in
rapid succession. Long pauses between
taps may cause Depth to miscount the
intended number of taps.

multifunction button
The multifunction button is programmed
to detect single, double and triple
presses. It also detects short holds (3
seconds) and long holds (7 seconds).
When pressing the multifunction button,
ensure that you press the button all
the way down and release it. Partially
pressing the button down may not be
detected.
The multifunction button is pressure and
waterproof up to 150m.
how to wear
Depth is designed to be worn on the
side of your head near one of your ears.
There are two main ways to wear Depth,
under your wetsuit hood or mask strap.
Depth is audible in either configuration,
however, you may want to increase the
volume when wearing Depth over thick
wetsuit hoods.
Note that if you wear Depth under your
wetsuit you will not be able to press the
multifunction button and must solely rely
on tap detection to operate the device.

Depth can be mounted on your mask
strap with the included mask strap clip.
For additional security, use the included
lanyard to tether Depth to the mask
strap. This can be done by first looping
the small lanyard through Depth and
then through the hole in the mask strap
clip.
The longer lanyard can be used to
secure Depth around your neck if you
are wearing Depth under your wetsuit
hood.

Depth has 4 modes it can cycle through.
-Sleep Mode: Default power-saving
mode.
-Freedive Mode: Receive spoken
audio notifications while freediving
-Music Mode: Listen to your favorite
music
-Bluetooth Mode: Connect to the
mobile app, offload dive logs, upload
music, configure settings and more

Sleep mode
Sleep Mode Button Mapping
-1 press: show current battery life on LED
-2 presses: switch to Music Mode
-3 presses: switch to Freedive Mode
-short hold: switch to Bluetooth Mode
-long hold: restart Depth
Sleep Mode Tap Detection
- In sleep mode, tap detection is disabled.
Depth will be in Sleep Mode most of
the time to conserve battery. Depth will
return to Sleep Mode after 15 minutes of
inactivity in any other mode (excluding
Music Mode). Battery life in sleep mode
is ~2 weeks.
Press the multifunction button once to
display the current battery life on the
indication LED. Tap detection is disabled.
Battery levels:
Green 100%-75%
Yellow 75%-50%
Violet 50%-25%
Red 25%-0%
Freedive mode
15 minutes without going below 1.5 meters
will result in Depth going to sleep.
Battery life in Freedive Mode is ~20 hours.
Freedive Mode Button Mapping:
The button and tap detection functions will
change depending on if you are above or
below 1.5 meters.
Their mappings can be found on the following
pages.
Freedive Mode will automatically activate
when you dive below 1.5 meters for 5
seconds or can be manually activated
through the multifunction button.
While in Freedive Mode, Depth’s
vocal assistant will relay spoken audio
notifications about your dive and
automatically log your dives. Freedive
Mode can be configured with the Depth
Connect mobile app.
Freedive Mode operates differently
depending on whether you are on the
surface of the water or if you are diving.

Freedive Mode (surface)
Example: You enable dive time, max depth,
average temperature and surface interval
started surface notifications.
You perform a freedive and a few seconds
after you reach the surface, Depth’s vocal
assistant will say the following:
“Dive time, 45, depth, 12, temperature 15,
surface interval started”
Surface Notifications
Surface Notifications play a few seconds
after you have reached the surface.
They can be individually toggled in the
Depth mobile app and include:
-Dive time
-Max depth
-Max speed
-Coldest/average temperature
-Hang time
-Surface interval started

Use these algorithms at your own risk.
Algorithm A:
If max depth is less than 25m, then surface
interval = 2 x dive time.
If max depth is greater than 25m and less
than 40m, then surface interval = 8 minutes.
If max depth is greater than 40m, then
surface interval = 15 minutes.
Algorithm B:
Surface interval = 2 x dive time.
Surface Interval Complete
Depth automatically keeps track of your
surface interval after each dive and can
notify you when it is complete. Depth has
4 built-in surface interval algorithms.
WARNING These algorithms are not
guaranteed to prevent decompression
sickness or shallow water blackouts while
diving. Depth Dive Computers LLC has
generated these algorithms based on
feedback from freediving instructors and
professional freedivers.

Freedive Mode (surface)
Example: You perform a 22-meter
dive in 1 minute and 15 seconds (75
seconds). On Algorithm A, your surface
interval will be doubled to 2 minutes and
30 seconds (150 seconds).
After you reach the surface and the
allotted time has passed Depth’s vocal
assistant will tell you:
“Surface interval complete”
Algorithm C:
Surface interval = 3 x dive time.
Algorithm D:
If max depth is less than 25m, then
surface interval = 2 x dive time.
If max depth is greater than 25m, then
surface interval = 3 x dive time.
Use these algorithms at your own risk.
Freedive Mode (surface)
Stopwatch
The Stopwatch can be activated by double
tapping. When you activate the Stopwatch,
Depth will tell you the time elapsed in
10-second intervals until you dive below
1.5m. The Stopwatch will automatically turn
off after 4 minutes without diving below
1.5m.
Example: If you enable the Stopwatch, then
dive 35 seconds after you enable it; Depth’s
vocal assistant will say:
“10” … “20” … “30”
Replay Surface Notifications
You can replay your surface notifications
for your most recent dive by tapping
Depth once.
Example: If you activate a replay of the
surface notifications from the previous
example Depth’s vocal assistant will tell
you:
“Dive time, 45, depth, 12, temperature
15”

Freedive Mode (Underwater)
Target Ascent Depth Notifications
Depth can be configured to notify you at 3
different target depths during your ascent
from the deepest part of your dive.
Example: You configure Target Ascent Depth
(TAD) 1 for 15 meters, TAD 2 for 9 meters and
TAD 3 for 5 meters.
When you reach 15 meters Depth’s vocal
assistant will say “15”, “9” when you reach 9
meters and “5” when you reach 5 meters.
Target Descent Depth Notifications
Depth can be configured to notify you
at 3 different target depths during your
descent.
Example: You configure Target Descent
Depth (TDD) 1 for 5 meters, TDD 2 for
11 meters and TDD 3 for 17 meters.
When you reach 5 meters Depth’s vocal
assistant will say “5”, “11” when you
reach 11 meters and “17” when you
reach 17 meters.

Freedive Mode (Underwater)
Example: You select every 5 meters and
perform a 23-meter dive. During your
descent Depth’s vocal assistant will say:
“5” … “10” … “15” … “20”.
Depth Interval Notification
Depth’s vocal assistant will speak your
current depth according to the Depth
Interval you configure (3 meters, 5
meters, 10 meters or 20 meters).
Freedive Mode (Underwater)
Time Intervals
Depth’s vocal assistant speaks your
dive time in configurable time intervals.
You can choose every 15 seconds, 30
seconds or 60 seconds.
Example: You set the Time Interval
notification to every 30 seconds and dive
for 80 seconds. Depth’s vocal assistant
will say: “30” … “60”
Target Time
Depth vocal assistant will notify you
based on the time you set.
Example: You set the Target Time
notification to 47 seconds.
At 47 seconds into your dive, Depth’s
vocal assistant will say: “47”

Example: You set the Target Speed
notification to 0.5 meters/second and
proceed to dive at 0.5 meters per second
during your descent. During part of your
descent, you speed up to .7 meters/
second.
During your dive, Depth’s vocal assistant
will say:
“0.5 meters per second”
“0.7 meters per second”
Target Speed
Target speed notifications allow a user to
set a target speed and be notified when
they reach that speed for longer than 3
seconds.
After reaching your target speed you will
receive a notification if you exceed or go
below your target speed by 0.1 meters/
second.

Freedive Mode (Underwater)
Freedive Logging
By default, all freedives are logged at
2 samples per second (2hz). But dive
logging can be configured to 4 or 8
samples per second. Dives must be
longer than 16 seconds to be logged.
Dive logs can be viewed and configured
in the mobile app. Higher sample rates
create more detailed dive logs, which
can be useful when trying to identify your
pulls on the line during free immersion.
Bluetooth Mode
Button Mapping
-1 press: not used
-2 presses: switch to Music Mode
-3 presses: not used
-short hold: switch to Sleep Mode
-long hold: restart Depth
Bluetooth Mode allows you to connect
your Depth device to the Depth mobile
app (Depth Connect).
Depth Connect is used to save and share
dive logs, configure Depth’s settings and
update its firmware.
If a Bluetooth connection is not
established after 2 minutes, Depth will
automatically go into sleep mode to
conserve battery.
Battery life in Bluetooth Mode is ~2.5hrs.

MUSIC Mode
You can use the mobile app (Depth
Connect), to change Depth’s Default
Active Mode from Freedive Mode to
Music Mode. With this change, Depth
will automatically switch into music mode
when you dive below 1.5m. This is
useful if you only want to use Depth
as an underwater music player.
The Default Active Mode setting can be
found be pressing the icon followed
by “Device”.
Music Mode allows you to listen to music
uploaded to Depth via Depth Connect.
If you do not dive below 0.5 meters for
15 minutes, Depth will switch out of
Music Mode.
When you’re done listening to music,
remember to switch back to Sleep Mode
or stop playback to maximize Depth’s
battery life.
Depth’s battery life in Music Mode is
approximately 6 hours.

Mobile app
Depth Connect is a mobile app that
allows you to configure Depth’s settings,
view and share dive logs, upload music,
and update Depth’s firmware.
Depth Connect can be downloaded via
the adjacent QR codes or by searching
for “Depth Connect” on the Apple App
Store or Google Play.

App Pairing:
To pair Depth with the app, complete the
following steps:
- Put Depth into Bluetooth Mode by
holding down the multifunction button
for 3 seconds, then open the app
- Select Depth from the device list, it will
be listed as “Depth Dive Computer”. If
Depth fails to appear, try restarting the
app.

Divelog Sync:
Once Depth successfully pairs with Depth
Connect, all recorded dive logs will be
automatically transferred to the app.
All imported dive logs can be viewed by
pressing

Firmware Update:
Whenever a new firmware version is
available for Depth, you will receive an
in-app notification prompting you to
download the update.
You can also manually check for updates
by pressing followed by “Device” and
“Update”.
Note: Depth Connect includes a pressure
sensor calibration function. Most users
should not have to use this feature, it
exists for hardware diagnosis and should
only be used at sea level.

Dive Computer
If Depth is not functioning correctly,
you can restart it by holding down the
mulifunciton button for 7 seconds. If Depth
continues to malfunction, please reach out
to us via [e-mail].
If you experience persistent issues with
Depth Connect or your Depth Dive
Computer, please contact us via
[e-mail].
App
Ensure you are running the latest app
version by checking the Apple App Store
or Google Play for the Depth app.
Ensure Bluetooth is on and press the
icon. Then press Disconnect Device to
disconnect and return to the Scanning
for Devices screen. If you fail to see
your Depth device on the Scanning for
Devices screen, ensure that your Depth
device is in Bluetooth Pairing Mode.
If Depth still fails to appear, restart the
app and reboot your Depth unit.
