Connect the speakers to main unit
1 Ensure the mains power is disconnected.
2 Connect the speaker wires between the main unit and the speakers.
Match the speaker wire to the appropriate terminal on the components:
(+) to (+) (colour), and (-) to (-) (black). (If the wires are reversed, the
sound will be distorted and will lack some tones.)
3 Hold down the terminal tab to insert each wire. Release the tab to lock
the wire into the terminal. Make sure the bare wire is fully inserted and
that the insulation reaches right up to the tab
leaving no bare wire visible.
• To avoid short-circuiting the speakers, make
sure the the stripped end of each speaker
wire does not touch another terminal or
another wire.
Connect the aerials
Plug the RF coax plug of the FM aerial lead into the external FM antenna
socket.
Assemble the MW loop aerial by bending the
stand along the join and continue to bend until
the stand is at the bottom of the aerial. Clip into
the slot in the base of the aerial. Then connect
the two wires from the MW aerial to the external
MW antenna terminals (in the same way the
speakers wires are connected).
Put a battery in the remote
control
Pull out the battery tray and put in a CR2025
battery.Please observe correct polarity.
If the unit is not to be used for a prolonged
period, remove batteries to avoid battery
leakage. In the interests of environmental safety,
dispose of batteries safely.
Connect to the wall socket
Plug the unit into a live wall outlet.
Backlight illumination in standby mode
Press any key (except ON/STANDBY)on the control panel or the remote
control (when unit in standby mode) and the backlight for the display
illuminates and remains on for 10-seconds for you to check the
information on the display.
Digital clock & timer settings
How to set correct time (in standby mode)
1 Press and hold CLK.ADJ for more than 2 seconds.
2 Press SKIP/SEARCH to adjust the hours, press CLK.ADJ again to set
minutes.
3 Press CLK.ADJ to skip to timer setting mode.
4 The time set will remain until you switch off the unit by the power
switch.
To set the time by the remote control, enter the hour and minutes using
the numeric buttons.
Alarm clock/timer function
How to preset the timer function (during operation)
With the unit working, press and hold CLK.ADJ to toggle between the
following modes:
Timer on Timer on hour Timer on minute Timer on mode
(power on with CD playback or tuned in radio station) Timer on
volume Timer off Timer off hour Timer off minute.
Adjust the timer on/off hour & minute by means of SKIP/SEARCH buttons.
Choose timer on mode between CD/Tuner by means of SKIP/SEARCH
buttons.
Toturnoff alarm hold down sleep/alarm on remote control.
Sleep function
1 Press SLEEP/ALARM on the remote control during CD playback or radio
broadcasting.
2 Then press SLEEP/ALARM to change display and sleep time in a
sequence: 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 10
off.
When the sleep function is activated, the unit goes into standby mode the 3

moment playback or broadcasting reaches the preset sleep time.
CD playback function
1Press FUNCTION to select CD playback mode.
2Insert a disc onto the CD tray.
3The display shows the total number and play time of tracks.
4Press PLAY/PAUSE button to begin CD playback; press this button again
to pause playback.
CD playback modes
Stop button
Press this button to stop playing the disc during CD playback.
Skip/search button
Press these buttons to advance by one track or jump back to the previous
track during CD playback or back to the start of the track.
Press and hold these buttons for 2 seconds during CD playback to go fast
forward or backward within the disc.
Repeat button
Press this button to select between repeat one and repeat all modes in CD
stop or play mode; once for repeat one track mode, twice for repeat all the
CD and three times to exit.
Random button
Press this button to enter random play mode in CD stop or CD play mode;
press this button again to exit this mode.
Intro button
The intro function will play 10 seconds from the beginning of every track.
Press this button to enter introplay mode in CD stop or CD play mode;
press this button again to exit this mode. In random playback, press this
button to enter random intro mode.
Remain button
Press this button to display the remaining playing time of the whole disc.
Press this button again to cancel.
Program button
To program tracks:
1 Press MEMORY in CD stop mode;
2 Press SKIP/SEARCH or numeric buttons to select the track;
3 Press MEMORY again to save and repeat step to increase the program.
4 After programming is finished, press PLAY/PAUSE to enter program
playback.
5 A total of 32 tracks can be programmed depending on the number of
tracks on the CD.
Digital tuner with RDS operation
• Press FUNCTION to enter tuner mode.
• Press BAND to select between MW and FM.
• Press TUNING SKIP/UP buttons to manually tune the frequency.
• Press and hold TUNING SKIP/UP buttons for 2 seconds to automatically
tune the radio frequency. When the tuning reaches an available station,
broadcasting starts immediately.
Tostore the current radio station frequency:
1 Press MEMORY.
2 Press MEM UP/DOWN buttons or directly press the numeric buttons on
the remote control to select a memory position.
3Press the MEMORY button again to storethe frequency.
4To recall the preset station frequency, press the MEM UP/DOWN buttons
or the numeric buttons.
30 stations can be preset in FM and 20 in MW. The memory will be erased
if the unit is unplugged.
RDS operation of digital tuner
When the radio stops at a radio station which supports RDS, the LCD
shows the frequency, radio name, program type and radio text step-by--
step.
You can also select the displayed text by pressing the PTY button. The
display toggles as follows: Station name Frequency Program
type Radio text back to Station name.
If you want to enjoy a particular type of program, press the PTY SEL button.

Use the SKIP/SEARCH buttons to select the particular program after
programming is done.
Other functions
EQ button
Press EQ to toggle the EQ effect of the system; the EQ effect will change
between: Flat, Rock, Classic, Pop, Jazz.
X-Bass button
Press this button to turn on or off the bass boost function. When turned
off resets EQ to Flat.
Vol+/-buttons
Press these buttons to increase or decrease the volume level. The volume
level can be changed from 0 - 30.
Mute button
Press this button to turn mute on or off. In mute on mode, the sound is
cut off.
Cassette operation
Open the cassette key cover.
Pause button
Press this button to pause cassette playback.
Stop/eject button
Press this button to stop cassette playback and again to eject the
cassette door.
F.Fwd button
Press this button to advance rapidly during cassette playback or stop
mode.
Rew button
Press this button to go backward rapidly during cassette playback or
stop mode.
Play button
Press this button to begin cassette playback.
Record button
Press this button to recordfrom the radio or CD to cassette tape. The
play button will also depress when the recordbutton is pressed.
Cassette recording operation
Record from CD
1 Play a disc while observing the play steps described elsewhere.
2 Insert a blank cassette tape correctly.
3 Press both RECORD and PLAY buttons to record when the CD arrives at
the point where you would like to begin your recording.
4 Press STOP/EJECT button to cease recording when the CD arrives at the
point where you would like to stop your recording.
5 When the tape reaches the end, the RECORD and PLAY buttons eject up
and subsequently the recording will be suspended.
Record from radio
1 Play the radio while observing the play steps described elsewhere.
2 Insert a blank cassette tape correctly.
3 Press both RECORD and PLAY buttons to record when the broadcasting
arrives at the point where you would like to begin your recording.
4 Press STOP/EJECT button to cease recording when the broadcasting
arrives at the point where you would like to stop your recording.
5 When the tape reaches the end, the RECORD and PLAY buttons eject up
and subsequently the recording will be suspended.
Recordfrom auxiliary
1 Connect the unit to an auxilary amplifier.
2 Insert a blank cassette tape correctly.
3 Press both RECORD and PLAY buttons to record when the amplifier
arrives at the point where you would like to begin your recording.
4Press STOP/EJECT button to cease recording when the amplifier arrives
at the point whereyou would like to stop your recording.
5 When the tape reaches the end, the RECORD and PLAY buttons eject up
and subsequently the recording will be suspended.
Protecting recordings
You can protect your recording from accidental erasure by removing the
safety tab.
All pre-recorded cassettes are protected to prevent accidental erasure of
the commercial recording. Protected cassettes will prevent the record
button from being operated. If at any time you attempt to record and find
that this button will not depress, never force the mechanism or it may be

damaged. Check that a cassette has been loaded and that the tab has not
been removed.

The CD micro system is for indoor use only.
WARNING :This unit uses a laser beam. To prevent an accident occuring
the unit should only be opened by a qualified engineer. If the door
interlocks become defective the laser may cause invisible radiation. Avoid
exposure to the beam.
Compact disc
Always use compact discs bearing the mark as shown.
Handling discs
When removing the disc from its storage case and loading it:
• Do not touch the reflective recorded surface.
• Do not stick paper or write anything on the surface.
• Do not bend the disc.
Storage
• Store the disc in its case.
• Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high temperatures, high
humidity or dusty places.
Cleaning a disc
If there is a scratch, dirt or finger prints on the CD, it may cause tracking
errors. Before playing, clean the CD with a clean cloth. Wipe the CD from
the centre outwards. After playing, store the disc in its CD case.
• Never use benzene, thinners, record cleaner fluid or anti static spray.
• Be sure to close the CD door so the lens is not contaminated by dust.
Do not touch the lens.
Careof cassette mechanism
Gently clean the tape head and pinch wheel / capstan assemblies after
every 10 hours of use. A range of cassette care products are available.
The erase head and record/play head and the surface of the pinch roller
are delicate and must not be touched with metal objects such as
screwdrivers. You may find it easier to clean the assembly by pressing
PLAY to bring head and pinch roller into view.Be sure to press STOP after
cleaning the mechanism. Damage to
the pinch wheel can occur if the unit is
left in play mode with the power
switch off. Under no circumstances
should you attempt to lubricate any
part of the machine.
Types of cassette
Use only good quality cassettes (IEC TYPE 1) for making recordings. The
boom box may be used to replay other types of cassette but is unable to
make proper recordings on these more specialized tapes. The use of C120
cassettes is not recommended.

user serviceable parts inside the unit. Refer

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within
the triangle is a warning sign alerting the user of
‘dangerous voltage’ inside the unit.
The exclamation point within the triangle is a
warning sign alerting the user of important
instructions accompanying the product.
To prevent fire or shock hazard do not expose this apparatus
to dripping or splashing.
Ventilation warning
The normal ventilation of the product shall not be impeded for intended
use.
Maintenance
Do not expose your cd microsystem to extreme of temperatures. The
product should be kept in a warm environment free from dust and damp.
For external cleaning use only a soft, clean, damp cloth. Use of detergents
may damage the finish.

quality standards. In addition to your statutory rights, Morphy Richards
guarantee your product to be free from manufacturing and component
defects for a period of TWO YEARS from date of purchase.
If your product proves to be defective within 28 days of purchase, your
Morphy Richards dealer from whom the product was purchased will be
pleased to replace it free of charge.
