Front castor measure
The Ackerman plate is not parallel to the upright, so to measure the Castor it’s better to
measure the level on a gurney bolted on the 2 threads in the middle of the upright.

The different positions of rear
anti-squat
It’s possible to adjust the rear anti-squat by changing the position of both lower & upper
wishbone bracket:
Position 1is the standard position for front mono suspension; it gave maximum
antisquat with the same roll centre.
Position 2is the standard position for front twin suspension; it gave medium
antisquat.
To adjust the anti-squat, you have to change the fitting holes from the wishbones bracket as
shown on the drawings and to change the castor to avoid bump steers

Dampers
The car can be fitted with any 325 mm long dampers.
Most common options are Quantum or Koni 2 ways dampers.

User’s manual V1.0 M13-SJ
15
Adjusting the QUANTUM Type 4
damper
The QUANTUM type 4 is a monotube double adjustable damper, with independent compression and
rebound control.
The adjusters are located in the window situated in the top eye of the damper. The adjusters move in
“sweeps”, one sweep is the defined by the width of the window.
Resetting the damper to full hard.
1. With the damper vertical (damper rod facing up) the top most adjuster is for compression, the lower
adjuster is for rebound.
2. Turning the adjusters clockwise (to the left) makes the damper harder, to the right (anticlockwise)
softens the damper.
3. The two adjusters are sealed by “O” rings and the drag of the seals will often cause both adjusters
to move even if only one is turned. This is not a problem but means care must be taken to achieve
the required independent settings.
4. Using a dowel pin (Part Number 10-0631-000) rotate the bottom (rebound) adjuster to the left until
a hard stop is reached. The compression adjuster should then be softened by one or two sweeps,
The rebound adjuster should then be checked to ensure it is still set at full hard.
5. Now turn the compression adjuster to full hard.
6. The damper is now set fully hard .
This is the point that should be used as the base line before setting up the damper. The damper has a
maximum range of -24 sweeps from full hard to full soft on both compression and rebound.
If in the course of testing only one adjuster needs to be moved, there are two methods. 1. Lock out the
adjuster that does not need to be moved with a spare pin or move the adjuster in question then reset
the other to the required position if it is dragged by the “O” rings.
Full stiff is position 0, then 1,2,3…24
