USB Cable AC Adaptor Pouch
Step by Step to Get Started
Step 1 Charge your Nextbook.
Plug the AC adaptor to any standard wall outlet and
the DC-IN port of the Nextbook. It takes about 5 hours
to fully charge the battery.
Step 2 Connect your Nextbook with Wi-Fi.
You can access the Internet with your portable Nextbook. Before launching an
Internet application such as web browser, you first need to configure a
network.
" (1) Tap the WIFI icon fj in the Home Screen.
(2) Tap “Wi-Fi” to turn on the WiFi.
(3) Tap the “Wi-Fi settings”, your Nextbook will scan automatically
for available WiFi networks and display them. The list of
available networks shows all the wireless networks in range of
your device,
_ (4) Tap on the network you want to connect to, enter the required _
network information (password) and then tap on “Connect”.
Your Nextbook will now attempt to establish a connection to
that WiFi hot spot with the network parameters you entered. If
the connection is successful, the message Connected
to...(Wi-Fi network name) will appear under the WIFI setting.

h. Power Button/Charge Indicator — Press and Hold for 4 seconds if you
need to shutdown the unit. Gently press once to enter Standby Mode;
Press one@ again to exit Standby Mode; lights in red during charging,
lightsañ green when battery is full.

How to use the Touch Screen
* The touch screen is capatitive. Different from resistive
touch screen, it does not respond to nails but requires
you to touch with finger pulp.
+ When watching a video or listening to music, you can
tap the progres sion bar to go directly to a different
location in the video or song.
+ In the file browsers (File, Music, Video, Photo, etc.),
you can drag your finger up and down to scroll the file
list up and down.
Customize the Home Screen
You can customize the Home Screen by adding/removing shortcuts and widgets,
changing the wallpaper.
* Toadda Home Screen item (shortcuts, widgets, folders etc.), tap on the Menu
icon Hill and then select “Add” Il. You can also hold your finger on the
screen and then choose an item from the list.
* You can add a folder onto the Home Screen by holding your finger on the
Screen and then choose Folders > New Folder. You ean drag shortcuts or
widgets to the folder.
To rename the folder, a) tap'to open the folder, b) hold your finger on the title
bar of the opened folder until the Rename window pops up, c) input folder
name.
a To move a Home Screen item, hold your finger onto it until it is highlighted,
then drag it to the desired location, and release it.
= To remove a Home Screen item, hold your finger onto it until it is highlighted,
drag it to the recycle bin which turns from the Application Tab, and then.
release your finger.
= To change the wallpaper, from the Home Screen, tap on the Menu icona,
a list of options appears. Tap on “Wallpaper” and then choose a picture as
the desktop wallpaper.
* To change the System Settings, from the Home Screen, tap on the Menu
icon Ed, and then tap on “Settings” [O] Choose a category: “Wireless &
Networks”, “Sound & Display’, “Date & Time”, etc. For more information on
the different settings, see the System Settings section.
Transferring Files
@ Connect your Nextbook to a Computer and
Download Files
(1) Connect your Nextbook to a computer with the supplied USB cable.
(2) Youshouldseetwo removable disk drives in yourcomputer. One represents
the internal memory of your Nextbook, andthe other represents the memory
card inserted into your Nextbook. Now you can copy files from or to them.
@ Remove your Nextbook from computer safely
After you transfer files, disconnect your Nextbook from computer safely.
(1) Left-click the © icon at the right hand comer of the taskbar.
(2) Click the pop-up mini-window with message of “Stop the USB Mass
Storage Device — Drive (X)".
(3) Drag the top bar downwards to reveal the USB notification message. Click
“Turn off USB storage” and then click “Turn Off’ to stop the connection.

Enjoy Music, Photo and Video
In the Home Screen, tap on the Application Tab to display all applications.
Tapping on the music, photos or video icon can open the corresponding
application.
Access to Borders Store
Your NextBook has a built-in online bookstore - Borders. You can purchase or
download free ebooks from Borders. (Note: You first need to make WiFi.
connection before accessing Borders.
Purchase e-books from Borders
(1) In the Home Screen, tap the
EbookReader icon.
(2) Taponthe“Borders’iconto access
Borders.
(5) TaponBUYNOWbuttontostart
the purchase process.
(6) Input your paymentaccount information
to checkout.
(7) Check your credit card No.
and the price.
(8) Tap Buy Now to download
The downloaded e-books will be saved
to the Borders library.
Read e-books in Borders Library
E-books from Borders are saved in Borders library. They are unable be
synchronized to the Ebook Reader application. To read them, go to the Borders
library. (Note: Make sure the WIFI network connection turns on ).
(1) Tap [a] to enter the Borders library. (2) Tap an e-book and then tap “Start Reading”.
Note: The bookshelve page is only for ebooks downloaded from Borders. For ebooks
transferred from Adobe Digital Eations, you need to launch the Ebook Reader application
preset in the device before reading.
(3) During reading, you can:
© Turn over pages by sliding your finger left and right.
© Tap on the screen to display the control bar. By sliding the control bar, you
can go to any page in the e-book.
© Tap the Menu icon to display menu options. With these options, you can
view outline of the e-book, change the view mode (day or night mode),
change the font size or style.

Download e-books with the Adob
Digital Edition (ADE) via PC
For those ebooks protected by digital right (DRM), you nééd.to syne them to the
device with ADE (Adobe Digital Edtions) before reading. Transferred ebooks from
ADE’can only be read by the E-book Reader application

To transfer ebooksiwith ADE,
1. Access the Website http:/Awww.adobe.com /profducts/digitaleditions/, and
then installthe Adobe Digital Edition software following the instructions online.

2. Authorize your computer with your Adobe ID and Password.
3.Activate your Nextbook. Connect yourNextbookto computerwith the USB cable.
and start up the Adobe Digital Editions. Click“ Authorize Device” to authorize your
Nextbook.
A The Adobe ID can be used only for six times. It should expire after 6 tries of authorizing
device. Later on, you need to delete the expired ID by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+D on the
computer keyboard or using the Erase Activation Record setting on the device and then
get a new one.
& The device remembers the ebooks downloaded with the latest Adobe ID only,
and will overwrite the eBooks downloaded with the previous Adobe!D.
4. Download DRN-protected PDF files to your computer. Access the Internet and
search fore-books, choose your favorite e-books and download them. Ifthe e-book
is protected by DRM, you should be prompted by DRM license information. Click
“Open” to start downloading the DRM-protected e-book.
5. Click “Purchase”, and then you should see your downloaded e-book atthe right
panel of the Adobe Digital Editions user interface.
6. ConnectyourNextbooktothe computerwiththe USBcable, andthe Adobe Digital
Editions should recognize your Nextbook.
