IMPORTANT
Installer and Users please note:
These instructions should be read carefully and left with
the user of the product for future reference.
BEFORE USE
You must inspect the product including its cable and plug
for any signs of damage. If the product is damaged, DO
NOT use it, and contact your supplier immediately.
PRODUCT SAFETY
•
This appliance is for professional use only. It is the
owner's responsibility to ensure that all users are given
adequate supervision and instruction concerning the use
of the appliance in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the luminaire.
•
Not for use in a domestic environment.
•
For indoor use only.
•
Do not place on carpet or other soft surfaces.
•
Do not use in bathrooms, or in wet or damp locations.
•
Do not place the mains lead beneath a carpet or rug.
•
Do not allow the cable to hang over the edge of a table.
•
Arrange the cable so that it cannot cause a trip
hazard.
•
Do not touch the fog output nozzle - it may be hot.
•
Do not operate the machine if people or animals are
within 2 m of the fog output nozzle.
•
Do not point the fog output towards naked flames or
other incandescent material.
•
Do not point the fog output towards sensitive electronic
equipment.

Do not put anything apart from fog fluid in the tank
(except when cleaning as described on page 4).
•
Do not move the unit whilst it is operating. Disconnect
from the mains supply before moving.
•
Arrange the cable so that it cannot cause a trip
hazard.
Notes:
1) Artificial fog is intended to be used as a short−term
effect to enhance the appearance of certain effects,
such as lasers or other lighting which produces a defined
beam of light. If an optical effect is required continuously
to make light beams visible, then a haze machine should
be used.
2) Excessive use of artificial fog may cause irritation to
the eyes and throat, especially in persons with
respiratory ailments. A risk assessment should be
carried out before use, taking into consideration the
amount of artificial fog to be used, the size of the room
and the degree of ventilation.
3) Artificial fog may trigger optical smoke alarms. Check
with the operator of the premises before use.
4) Fog fluid contains propylene glycol. A COSHH
datasheet is available from the Electrovision website.
GENERAL SAFETY
REQUIREMENTS
Domestic wiring must be tested periodically by a qualified
electrician at least once every 10 years or at every
change of occupancy.
For office and retail premises, and buildings such as
village halls, the wiring must be inspected at least once
every 5 years.

It is recommended that all building be fitted with smoke
alarms (it is mandatory for new buildings). Ionisation-type
smoke alarms are recommended for buildings where
theatrical fog effects are to be used.
OPERATION
To operate:
Place the NJ421 on a firm flat surface
.
Ensure that the
fog outlet (at the front) is not obstructed. Alternatively,
the appliance may be suspended using the attached
hanging bracket. If so, to conform with Health & Safety
legislation, a safety chain will also be required.
Plug the mains lead into a 13 Amp mains socket.
If connecting via an extension lead, make sure that the
lead is rated at 6 Amps or more, and that it is fully
unwound.
Allow the fog machine to warm up. This takes about 5
minutes. When warmed up, the "ready" indicator on the
rear panel will illuminate.
Press either pushbutton on the remote control handset
to operate the machine.
To fill the tank:
Disconnect from the mains supply.
Unscrew the lid, and fill with fog fluid. Replace the lid.

MAINTENANCE
Cleaning:
Clean the outside of the unit with a soft damp cloth, with
a drop of washing-up liquid.
To clean the appliance:
Remove the tank from the unit and empty out any water.
Rinse the tank with a 20% solution of white vinegar. This
will remove any lime deposits and kill bacteria. After forty
hours’ use, and before long-term storage, operate the
machine with the vinegar solution to clean fog-fluid
residues from the heating block.
If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorised service centre. If the
mains plug needs to be
replaced, proceed as
follows:
•
Connect the brown wire
to the terminal labelled "L".
•
Connect the blue wire to
the terminal labelled "N".
•
Connect the green-yellow
wire to the terminal
labelled with the earth symbol.
•
Make sure that the cord-grip is positioned correctly
(over the outer sheath of the cable) and it fully tightened.

If the plug is fitted with a 13 A fuse, replace it by a 5 A
fuse.

FAULT-FINDING
Fog not produced:
Check that the "ready" indicator is illuminated. If not wait
until the "heating" indicator is extinguished and the
"ready" indicator illuminated.
If neither indicator illuminated, check that the mains plug
is fully inserted into the mains socket and that the mains
socket is functional.
Check that the appliance is heating correctly (the case
will feel warm to the touch)
Check that the there is fog fluid in the tank.
Pump is excessively noisy:
Check that there is fog fluid in the tank.
If this does not solve the problem, clean the appliance as
described in the "Maintenance" section.
PAT TESTING
When used in a workplace, this product must be safety-
tested yearly by a qualified electrician (PAT Tested) in
order to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
If hired out, it must be PAT tested prior to each hire.
We recommend that it is PAT tested regularly when
used in a domestic environment.

DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING
You must not dispose of this appliance with domestic
household waste.
Most local authorities have specific collection system for
appliances and disposal is free of charge to the end-
user.
When replacing an existing appliance with a similar new
appliance your retailer may take the old appliance for
disposal.

SERVICE WARRANTY
Electrovision guarantees the product free from defects in
materials and workmanship for a period of one year.
Should this unit be operated under conditions other than
those recommended, at voltages other than the voltage
indicated on the unit, or any attempts made to service or
modify the unit, then the warranty will be rendered void.
The product you buy may sometimes differ slightly from
illustrations. This warranty is in addition to, and does not
affect, your statutory rights.
