IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended

product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric

manufacturer or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution
when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has

15) To completely disconnect this apparatus from the AC mains, disconnect the power supply
cord plug from the AC receptacle.

Introduction
Thank you for selecting the Fender Passport P-10W UHF Personal Wireless
Sound System. Fender’s Passport brand of products are known for their
portability, ease of use, innovative design, exceptional quality and value.
We think you will nd the same qualities in your new P-10W UHF. Before
operating the P-10W UHF, please read this instruction manual thoroughly
and familiarize yourself with the features and operation of your new sound
system.
The P-10W UHF is a battery powered, wireless personal portable sound
system. It is ideal for any situation where you need to raise the level of
your voice (or other audio source) to eectively communicate with a group
of people. The P-10W UHF is perfect for teachers, tour guides, auctioneers,
presentations, crowd control situations, police departments, S.W.A.T. teams,
graveside services, emergency personnel, coaches, zoos, museums...anyone,
anywhere.

Wireless Flexibility - The Passport Way
The wireless frequency band of your P-10W UHF is printed on the bottom
of the microphone and the bottom of the main unit. These same frequency
bands are available as wireless systems for other Passport products.
The output of the wireless microphone (the transmitter) is sent all around
you. This means that if you had several P-10W UHF’s, and they are all set to
the same channel) they would all receive the signal from your microphone.
Think of it as a paging system - put P-10W UHF’s in every room of your house
or oce and when you speak into the microphone, your voice comes out of
all the speakers - each with their own volume controls!
A powerful feature is that one microphone can send signals to dierent
Passport systems. For example, an airline ticketing agent is using a P-10W
UHF as a communication tool at their gate. Larger Passport systems (such as
the P-80, PD-150, PD-250 and PD-500) equipped with wireless receivers are
set up throughout the terminal. As the agent announces events taking place
at that gate, everyone in the terminal can also hear the information.
Your P-10W UHF was carefully packed at the factory. The carton should
contain:

1 - AC to DC power adapter / battery charger
1 - AC cord (appropriate for country where P-10W UHF was purchased)
1 - Rechargeable battery
1 - UHF wireless handheld microphone / transmitter OR
1 - UHF Executive mic kit (with belt-pack, transmitter, lavalier mic, and headset
microphone.
If any items are missing, please contact the authorized Fender retailer where
you purchased the P-10W UHF.

G. 1/4” (6.3mm) Input Jack. This is a mic level input jack. Use this jack to plug
in a wired microphone if necessary (second mic input).
H. Power Switch/Wireless Mic Volume Control. A click-o position is located
at the fully counter-clockwise position. Rotating the control clockwise
increases the output volume of the wireless microphone.
I. Power Indicator Light. Lights up when power is on. Color is red when the
receiver is not receiving a signal from the wireless mic. The color is green
when a good signal is being received.
J. 1/4” Input Level Control. Adjusts the level of the microphone plugged into
the 1/4” jack (G).
K. Battery Charge Indicator. Red light indicates battery is low and needs
charging. Green, blinking light indicates charging in progress. Solid green
light indicates battery is fully charged.
L. Line Out Jack. Allows you to send the audio signal from the P-10W UHF
to an external amplier, mixer or recording device.
M. 1/8” (3.5mm) Auxiliary Input. For connecting CD, Cassette, or audio line
output from another device like a computer sound card.
N. DC Power Input Jack. Plug in the battery charger here (Positive tip).
O. Shoulder Strap.
P. Battery Compartment. Shoulder strap, cord, and Charger can be stored in
here.
Q. Mic Stand Adapter.

Operation
Charge the Battery
Very Important! - Before you use your P-10W UHF, you must charge the
battery for at least four hours. (or until the Battery Charge Indicator indicates
the battery is fully charged)
Using the wireless handheld microphone
The wireless handheld microphone runs o a 9V battery (not included).
Unscrew the cylindrical end of the mic to access the battery compartment.
Turn on the P-10W UHF
Turn on the wireless handheld microphone.
Proceed to “Scanning for a clear channel” section below.
Using the headset or lavaliere microphone and wireless belt-pack
transmitter
Either the headset or lavaliere microphone can be used with the wireless belt-
pack transmitter. The wireless belt-pack transmitter runs o a 9V battery (not
included). Remove the front cover to access the battery compartment.

Wireless Belt-Pack Transmitter
Plug either the Headset or Lavaliere microphone into the belt-pack transmitter
then tighten the threaded collar to ensure a secure connection.
Turn on the P-10W UHF.
Turn on the wireless belt-pack transmitter.
Proceed to “Scanning for a clear channel” section below.
Scanning for a clear channel:
There are 16 channels available. The receiver will scan through the channels
in the following order:
To scan for a clear channel:
1. Press and hold the CHANNEL SCAN (F) button on the P-10W UHF for 1
second.
2. The receiver module will automatically scan the channels and switch to
the rst available clear channel. The new channel will be shown on the
CHANNEL indicator (C).
Note: If the current channel is clear, the receiver will not change channels. The
channel number shown in the CHANNEL indicator will remain the same, but it
will blink for 5 seconds to acknowledge that a scan was completed.
Manually forcing a channel change:
To manually force a channel change, press the CHANNEL SCAN (F) button a
second time while the CHANNEL indicator (C) is blinking. This will force the
receiver to change to the next available clear channel.
Programming the transmitter (wireless microphone and belt-pack):
To program the UHF Handheld wireless microphone or the UHF belt-pack
transmitter:
1. Make sure the microphone or belt-pack transmitter is on, then point the
HOT SPOT on the transmitter at the HOT SPOT on the P-10W UHF.
Note: The HOT SPOT is located on the end cap of the UHF Handheld wireless
microphone, and on the battery cover of the UHF belt-pack transmitter.

2. Press the PROGRAM MIC button on the receiver module.
During programming, the CHANNEL indicator on the P-10W UHF will blink
and the LED on the transmitter will light up.
When programming is complete (usually about 1 second), the CHANNEL
indicator will stop blinking and the LED on the transmitter will go dark. The
transmitter is now set to the new channel.
TIP: To verify the link on the new channel, check the POWER LED on the P-10W
UHF. It will be green if it is receiving a good RF signal from the transmitter. If it
is still red, check the transmitter’s battery rst. Then repeat the channel scan and
transmitter programming process.
The wireless microphone included with your P-10W UHF is a high quality
microphone designed for use with voice or instruments. The receiver is built
into the P-10W UHF, and the transmission range (how far away you can move
the microphone away from the receiver) is well over 100 feet. Keep in mind
that many household and oce appliances, as well as overhead orescent
lights, or lights on dimmer switches can cause interference with your wireless
transmission. If this happens, simply move the P-10W UHF or move the
microphone to an area where you receive clear transmission. In most cases,
this should be no more than a few feet.
Using the secondary 1/4” microphone input
You must use a microphone that has a cable with a 1/4” connector. Plug the
1/4” end of the mic cable into the 1/4” Input Jack (G) on the P-10W UHF.
Adjust the 1/4” input level control (J) to desired volume.
Connecting another audio source to the P-10W UHF
The 1/8” Auxiliary input jack (M) is available to connect a CD, Cassette player,
or MP3s to the P-10W UHF.
Connect the device’s audio or headphone output to the 1/8” Auxiliary input
jack (M) on the P-10W UHF. Make sure that the CD, cassette, or MP3’s volume
is turned down before plugging into the P-10W UHF’s auxiliary input jack.
Turn the Volume Control (H) clockwise to turn on the P-10W UHF, and adjust
to the minimum volume setting. Slowly turn up the volume on the auxiliary
device.

Connecting the line output to another piece of equipment
The 1/8” line output is available to send the audio signal from the P-10W
UHF to another piece of equipment. For example if you want to record a
presentation (or you singing!) you can connect this output jack to the input
jack of a cassette recorder.
AC to DC power adapter
A power adapter is supplied with your P-10W UHF. This adapter is used to
recharge the battery. It is not designed to power the P-10W UHF from an
AC source. Make sure the P-10W UHF is turned o when recharging the
battery.
The power adapter converts AC power to DC power. The output of the power
adapter is 18V DC. (The inner section of the connector is positive.)
Charging the Battery
Plug the barrel end of the cord into the DC power input jack (N) and plug
the AC end into your AC power source. Charging will begin immediately and
the Battery Charge Indicator (K) will show a blinking green light.
Battery Charge Indicator. Red light indicates battery is low and needs
charging. Green, blinking light indicates charging in progress. Solid green
light indicates battery is fully charged.
If the indicator does not immediately start to blink green, it may be due to
excessive power drain of the battery. This is normal. The indicator should
begin to blink after 10 to 15 minutes. If the battery charge indicator fails to
light, it may be due to a faulty battery.
The P-10W UHF has an auto turn-o protection circuit. When the battery
charge is weak, the unit will automatically turn o to prevent damaging the
battery. If this happens, turn o the unit and recharge the battery.
Replacing, or using a second Battery
With proper care and charging, it is unlikely that it will be necessary to
replace the battery in the P-10W UHF . If you plan on using the P-10W UHF
for extended periods of time, you may want to purchase a second battery.
The battery is a standard 12 volt 2.9 amp gel cell and is available from Fender
directly, for from Authorized Fender Audio dealers. (P/N 005-7535-000).

To replace the battery:
Open the battery compartment by pressing down on the two tabs at the top
of the battery compartment. The door will hinge open.
The battery is “spring loaded” behind an interior panel. Remove this panel
by sliding it upwards.
Remove the battery by pulling it out of the compartment. Replace the battery
with another. The terminals on the battery should be on the “top” as you
slide it into the compartment.
Press the battery into the unit and replace the interior rear panel.
Close the compartment door. Lift up the two tabs until they “click” into
place.

P-10W UHF. Antes de usar el P-10W UHF, lea completamente este manual de
instrucciones para familiarizarse con sus características y manejo.
El P-10W UHF es un sistema personal de sonido inalámbrico que funciona a
pilas. Resulta perfecto para cualquier situación en la que necesite aumentar el
nivel de su voz (u otra fuente audio) para comunicarse de forma ecaz con un
grupo de personas. El P-10W UHF es perfecto para profesores, guías turísticos,
subastas, presentaciones, situaciones de control de masas, departamentos de
policía y operaciones especiales, servicios de emergencias, entrenadores, en
zoos, museos...para cualquiera y para cualquier lugar.

Flexibilidad inalámbrica - El camino Passport
La banda de frecuencia inalámbrica de su P-10W UHF viene indicada en la
parte inferior del micrófono y de la unidad principal. Estas mismas bandas
de frecuencia están disponibles como sistemas inalámbricos para otros
productos Passport.
La salida del micro inalámbrico (transmisor) es emitida en todas direcciones.
Esto quiere decir que si tiene varios P-10W UHF y ajusta todos los receptores
al mismo canal, todos deberían recibir la señal de su micro. Piense en esto
para crear un sistema de megafonía - coloque P-10W UHF en cada sala de su
casa u ocina y cuando hable en el micro, su voz llegará a todos los altavces
- ¡ajustado cada uno a su propio volumen!
Una característica de gran potencial es que un micrófono puede enviar
señales a varios sistemas Passport. Por ejemplo, un controlador de tierra
puede usar un P-10W UHF como herramienta de comunicación en su puerta.
Puede que haya sistemas Passport mayores (como el P-80, PD-150, PD-250
y PD-500) equipados con receptores inalámbricos a lo largo de la terminal.
Conforme el controlador vaya informando desde su puerta, todas las personas
de la terminal podrá escuchar también esta información.
Su P-10W UHF ha sido cuidadosamente embalado en fábrica. Dentro de ese
embalaje debería encontrar los siguientes elementos:

1 - Bandolera
1 - Adaptador de corriente AC-DC / cargador de pilas
1 - Cable (adecuado para el país en el que haya adquirido el P-10W UHF)
1 - Pila recargable
1 - Micrófono / transmisor manual inalámbrico UHF O
1 - Kit de micrófono de ejecutivo UHF (con transmisor de petaca, micrófono
lavalier y micrófono de diadema).
Si falta cualquiera de estos elementos, póngase en contacto con el comercio
en el que adquirió el P-10W UHF.

G. Conector de entrada de 1/4” (6.3 mm). Entrada de nivel de micro. Use esta
toma para conectar un micro con cable si es necesario (segunda entrada
de micrófono).
H. Interruptor de encendido/Control Wireless Mic Volume. Tope con clic en el
extremo izquierdo. El giro de este control a la derecha hace que aumente
el volumen de salida del micrófono inalámbrico.
I. Indicador de encendido. Se ilumina cuando la unidad esté encendida. Su
color será rojo cuando el receptor no esté recibiendo señal desde el micro
inalámbrico y verde cuando esté recibiendo una señal de buen nivel.
J. Control de nivel para la entrada de 6,3 mm. Le permite ajustar el nivel del
micrófono conectado a la toma de 6,3 mm (G).
K. Indicador de carga de la pila. Se ilumina en rojo para indicarle que la carga
está muy baja y que debe recargar la pila. Un parpadeo en verde le indica
que la carga está en marcha. Una indicación ja en verde le indica que la
pila está totalmente cargada.
L. Conector de salida de línea. Le permite enviar la señal audio del P-10W UHF
a un amplicador, mesa de mezclas o unidad de grabación exterior.
M. Entrada auxiliar de 1/8” (3.5 mm). Para la conexión de un reproductor de
CD, cintas o una salida de línea audio de otro aparato como puede ser la
tarjeta de sonido de un ordenador.
N. Conector de entrada de corriente. Enchufe aquí el cargador de pilas (la
punta es la conexión positiva).
O. Bandolera.
P. Compartimento para la pila. Dentro de él puede guardar la bandolera, el
cable de corriente y el cargador de pilas.
Q. Adaptador para soporte de micro.

Funcionamiento
Carga de la pila
¡Muy importante! - Antes de usar su P-10W UHF debe dejar la pila cargando
durante un periodo mínimo de cuatro horas. (O hasta que el indicador de
carga de pila le indique que está totalmente cargada).
Uso del micrófono manual inalámbrico
El micrófono manual inalámbrico funciona con una pila de 9V (no
incluida). Desenrosque el extremo cilíndrico del micro para tener acceso al
compartimento de la misma.
Encienda el P-10W UHF
Encienda el micrófono manual inalámbrico.
Consulte la sección “búsqueda de un canal limpio” más adelante.
Uso del micrófono de diadema o lavalier y del transmisor inalámbrico de
petaca
Puede usar tanto el micrófono de diadema como el lavalier con el transmisor
inalámbrico de petaca. Este tipo de transmisor funciona con una pila de
9V (no incluida). Quite la tapa frontal para acceder al compartimento de la
pila.
