Introduction
Thank you for purchasing PCI Mini-101M Print Server. It is a device
which can connect with the Ethernet and reinforce the management
over any printers and brings the performance into full play. This print
server allows your Multi-Function Printer or normal printer to become
a shared device on the network. Unlike many other print servers, it
can communicate with MFP and printers as if it is directly connected
to your computer. Furthermore, Mini-101M can build bi-directional
communication with MFPs and printers so that it can help monitor printers
and show the information about ink level and paper level.
Mini-101M Print Server has a 10/100Mbps Ethernet network port and a
USB printer port. It supports printing, scanning, card reading and faxing
sharing functions. Moreover, this print server can comply with many
Operating Systems, such as Windows 2000 SP4 and above, Windows XP
SP1 and above, and Windows Vista. It also supports Windows XP and
Vista scanning utility and MFP vendorsŅscanning utilities.
Not only working as an MFP server, Mini-101M can also be a traditional
print server. It supports
TCP/IP network protocol, and LPR, RAW, IPP printing protocols. It can
share printing function on most of the common network operating systems,
such as Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/
Vista, Unix/Linux and Apple MAC OS 9.x and above.
With the help of the installation wizard of Mini-101M, you can set up and
configure the settings easily and completely and enjoy the convenience
brought by it instantly. The following chapters will introduce you the
fantastic functions of Mini-101M, the installation methods, and system
configuration in different environments. With all these features, Mini-
101M must be the best solution for both beginners and advanced users.

1. Contents of Package
After purchasing Mini-101M Print Server form a distributor or an agency,
please open the package and check that all the components listed below are
included. If there is any item missing, please contact with the distributor or
the agency at once.

If plug the AC adapter which includes in the product package into
a socket with different voltage power supply, it will cause damage
and that is not included in warranty.
2. System Requirements
œWindows Operating System with an installed Ethernet adapter and
support TCP/IP protocol
œComputer with Windows 2000 SP4 and above, Windows SP1 and above,
and Windows Vista
œA printer or an MFP with USB port
œA USB cable
œRJ-45 CAT5 Ethernet cable

LED Status Meaning
LAN Blinking / On
When the power is on, the LAN LED will blink several
times and then become green all the time. When
transmitting data, the LED will be blinking.
Status On The Status LED will be on only when printing or there
are some problems with the printer or the print server.
Ready On After power on Mini-101M, its Ready LED will be on
all the time, and it means you may start to use it.
Button Function Usage
Reset Restart
Press the button for 3-5 seconds, and then unplug the
power cord, but do not release the Reset button and
wait for 3 seconds before plugging the power cord
back. Release the Reset button and Mini-101M will
automatically restart and back to the default settings.

4. How to Set Up Mini-101M
1.Unwrap the package of Mini-101M Print Server and check if the
components are complete with nothing missing.
2.Use USB cable to connect Mini-101M Print Server with the printer
which you want to share with others.
3.Plug the RJ-45 cable into the UTP port on Mini-101M Print Server.
4.At last, connect the AC adapter with Mini-101M and plug the other
side of the power cord into the power socket. Power on Mini-101M
Print Server and it will automatically start the POST (Power-On-Self-
Test). While detecting, the Ready LED will be on and LAN LED will
be blinking for a while and then the Mini-101M will be ready in a short
time.
1.Plug the AC Adapter which comes with Mini-101M in a
different voltage power supply will cause damage on Mini-
101M, and it is not included in warranty.
2.To prevent the compatibility problems between Mini-101M and
a few MFPs or printers, it is recommended that you power on
Mini-101M before the connected MFP or printer.

2Basic Setup & Configuration
1. Software Installation & Setup
In order to meet users' network printing needs, Mini-101M supports many
kinds of Operating Systems, such as Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/
Vista, UNIX system, and Macintosh Computer; therefore, it can be set up
through many OS.
Before you start, you should check your computer's operating system.
The driver and utility program can be run in Windows 2000 SP4 and
above, Windows XP SP1 and above, and Windows Vista. The following
procedures are running in Windows XP, for other Windows OS the
procedures are similar.
If your host computer has more than one Network Interface Card
(NIC), please disable the NIC which is not in use; otherwise the
utility may have difficulty in detecting the print server.

1.1 Software Installation
The installation wizard will install the following programs:
ŜInstall all the necessary utilities and drivers
ŜGuide you through the print server setup process to install and
configure your print server (including setting up several protocols
and settings)
ŜAdd a new print server network port on your computer.
In order to let you make a connection successfully between Mini-101M
Print Server and your network/computer, we suggest that you should assign
a static IP address for your computer, for example, 192.168.1.100 (Mini-
101M Print Server's default IP address is 192.168.1.200) that will help
while setting up the connection. After giving an IP address, please follow
the steps below to start the Installation:
1.Put the Mini-101M CD-ROM into the CD-ROM driver, and go to the
root directory. Double click oņMini-101M_Utility.exeŇand you can
start to install the print server and set up the printer which connects with
Mini-101M.
The following pictures of installing Utilities and Driver are all
captured from Windows XP operating system. These installations
steps are all similar in Windows 98/ME/2000/2003.
2.First, please select the language for the installation and then clickņOKŇ.

3.After getting into the InstallShield Wizard, it will show the following
page. Please make sure that your Mini-101M print server is ready and the
hardware of the printer was installed and the power is on. If you want to
continue, please clickņNext.ŇAnd if you want to install the utility later,
you may clickņCancel.Ň
4.ClickņNextŇto install the utility into the default folderņC:\Program
Files\MFP Server Utilities,Ňor you can clickņChangeŇto assign
another location for the utilities.

5.You may choose to start the configuration of Mini-101M right away or
later. ClickņNextŇto continue installing.
6.The wizard will start to install the utilities. After completing the
installation, it will show the detected print server on the list and you may
start to configure the print server. Choose MFP server list will show all
the print servers on the LAN. If the print server you want to configure
does not show on the list, please clickņRefreshŇto search for the print
server again. Choose the print server you want to configure and click
ņNextŇto continue installing.

1.Print Server Name is the last 6 digit of MAC ID marked on the
back of the print server and plus theņMFŇprefix.
2.Here only shows the print servers which have the same brand
and in the same LAN.
7.After clickingņNextŇon previous page, a window will pop up and ask
you to login. Please enterņ0000Ňfor the password and then clickņOK
Ňto continue configuring.
8.You may give a distinguishable alias name for Mini-101M Print Server
or you can leave the default name. Besides, you can enter a 15-digit
description for the print server or leave it blank and clickņNextŇto
continue the configuration.

9.You can clickņManual IPŇto manually assign an IP address for
Mini-101M or you can just clickņNextŇand leave the default
IP address. (The default IP address of Mini-101M Print Server is
ņ192.168.1.200Ň.) If Mini-101M is connected with a device which
has DHCP server, you may clickņDHCPŇto let it automatically get an
IP address.
10.Enter theņPreview SettingsŇpage, this page will show the previous
configuration. If the settings are correct, clickņFinishŇto proceed.

11.At last, it will show theņInstallShield Wizard CompleteŇpage.
ClickņFinishŇto exit the installation wizard program and restart the
computer to let the utility take effect.
12.After completing the installation, there will be a pop-up asking if you
want to automatically run MFP Manager when Windows starts.
13.After restarting the computer, the following MFP Manager window will
pop up and you can start to configure and manage Mini-101M Print
Server. Besides, the icon of MFP Manager will be listed on the
desktop.

2. MFP Manager
TheņMFP ManagerŇcan automatically find the MFP server in the
network and show it in the MFP Server List.
2.1 MFP Server List
Users can select an MFP and clickņConnectŇto connect the MFP just
like you have directly connected the MFP to your computer through USB
cable. It also displays the connection status. When you don't want to use
the MFP or Printer, please clickņDisconnectŇso that other users can use
the device. Or you can click the check box to enable theņAuto ReleaseŇ
setting, so that the Mini-101M will release the connection after a period of
idle time that you have set.
If you unplug the USB cable of MFP or turn off the MFP while using, the
MFP will not display in the list. After you reconnect the USB cable or turn
on MFP, you have to clickņRefreshŇandņConnectŇbuttons to recover
the connection.

MFP Server List
MFP Server List TheņMFP Server ListŇwill list all the MFP
Servers on the network. You can Ànd the information
of the MFP Servers includingņMFP Server
NameŇ,ņMAC IDŇ,ņIP AddressŇand the
device that is connected to the MFP Server.
