Platecam SV-5200.IR User manual

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
The SV-5200.IR and SV-5200.IR.C are bar-type license plate cameras with a super wide 180°
viewing angle and IR night vision. They are easy to install with no drilling required, requiring
minimal installation time. This uniquely designed product can be used for any passenger car,
SUV and Van. It can also be used on many large Semi Trucks, School Buses, and Transit
Buses
FEATURES:
•Revolutionary design integrates a Color rear vision camera with your rear license plate
•Enhance the look of your Car, SUV, Truck or Van.
•The 180°ultra wide-angle CMOS color camera provides rear images in real time and
eliminates the dangerous “blind-spot” directly behind your vehicle when backing.
•Works well in day or night, on most vehicles.
•Normal or Reverse Image (Selectable) and Parking Line Assist (Selectable)
•The plate cam easily connects with other SecurView monitor or aftermarket monitor that
uses an RCA input
•Available in black and chrome color
•The PlateCam™ is designed for vehicles in which the license plate location is centered
and above the level of the rear bumper. The PlateCam™ may not perform well on
vehicles with low or offset license plate positions.

INSTALLATION
MOUNTING:
1. The SV-5200.IR and SV-5200.IR.C Rear Vision Systems use a super wide-angle lens for best
all around performance. The Camera will display the full width of most parking spaces up to 8
feet or even wider.
2. These cameras are designed to work best on vehicles that have a license plate located at the
center and above the rear bumper. If your vehicle has a plate location that is offset to the left
side, right side, or your plate is located under the bumper then the PlateCam™ may not
provide optimum performance.
3. The SV-5200.IR and SV-5200.IR.C are designed to use the existing License Plate mounting
equipment

CAMERA:
1. The Camera has built-in circuitry to reverse the image so objects on the right of vehicle
appear on the right and objects on the left appear on the left when looking at a standard
monitor. (See Reverse Imaging next section for more information.)
2. The color CMOS camera is maintenance-free, waterproof (IP-68) and vibration resistant.
3. This camera has built-in Infra-Red LEDs for night vision. This will provide the driver with the
absolute best illumination when backing up the vehicle at night time.
4. The camera is completely electronic. There are NO manual adjustments for focus, etc.

REVERSE (MIRROR) IMAGING:
The SV-5200.IR and SV-5200.IR.C Cameras have built-in circuitry to “mirror” the image so objects on
the right of vehicle appear on the right and objects on the left appear on the left when looking at a
standard monitor. If your existing monitor or in-dash monitor has a reverse camera input where the
monitor itself performs the mirror image, then your picture will not be correct. If this happens, the SV-
5200.IR cameras have a jumper plug that can be connected to reverse the image back to normal.
(See Wiring Diagram)
WIRING:
1. Carefully choose a hidden out-of-sight location (possibly behind the plate) for drilling the cable
hole. Some vehicles may have an existing hidden rubber grommet or plug available to avoid
having to drill into the body. Be sure to double-check for any wiring or obstructions behind the
surface where you are going to drill the cable hole. Use the rubber grommet to make a watertight
seal for the cable where it passes into the vehicle.
2. Choose a convenient place to run the camera cable up the left, right or center of the vehicle. As
a rule of thumb, try to avoid main factory harness looms that may contain high levels or RF noise
or interference.
3. You can connect the camera power at the rear of the vehicle behind the reverse lights. You may
also connect power inside the vehicle under the dash or in the trunk. The Red power wire goes to
Reverse Light +12V, and the Black wire to Ground. The (2) small white plastic plugs are for
reverse/normal image switching and Parking Assist Lines. Leave the jumper disconnected for
reverse image, connect the jumper for normal image, and leave the other white plug plugged in
for Parking Lines.
4. Run the Yellow RCA video cable to the monitor’s video input or reverse camera input. Leave the
white RCA disconnected.
