This lighting system has been designed and manufactured exclusively for B&Q.
These instructions on wiring and installation are provided as a guideline to assist you. Some experience of electrical
wiring and do-it-yourself is required to install the light fitting. If at any time you are unsure of how to proceed, please
consult a qualified electrician.
Important!
The plug must be situated indoors (e.g. house, garage, shed) in order to protect it from the elements. During use these
products get hot Always switch off and allow product to cool before touching.

This Kit contains:
1x 12V outdoor transformer with 2 metres of cable, 1 x 12 metre extension cable, 4 x spike fixings, 4 x outdoor lights,
4 x Mr16 20w 12v Halogen bulbs.
Information:
This lighting kit is designed for outdoors installation in the garden. This system operates at Safety Extra Low
Voltage (12V), via the outdoor transformer. Never connect the light fittings directly to the mains without using this
transformer.
Always remove the plug from the mains socket when installing or maintaining this system.
Layout:
Plan the desired position for these fittings
carefully, ensuring the cables will reach
the distances between the indoor plug, the
outdoor transformer and each light fitting.
Avoid locating any cables in positions that
would cause a trip hazard. Position cables
and transformer away from areas where they
may be at risk from being cut, trapped or
damaged.
The plug has no special protection against
moisture and must be situated indoors.
The 12 Volt transformer is rated at IP44 and
can be positioned outdoors. Avoid positioning
in very wet areas.
The light units are rated at IP44.
Do not bury the transformer in the ground
and avoid positioning it in very wet areas.

Installation:
1) Position the plug next to the indoor mains outlet socket that the system will connect to. Do not plug in at this
stage.
2) After deciding where to place the light fittings, and the position of the transformer, ensure the cables are long enough
to connect to the desired positions.
3) The transformer can be situated indoors or outdoors.
4) Lay out the 12 metre extension cable in the desired route, ensuring the cable does not present a trip hazard and
decide where to position each light along the cable.
5) Fit the ground spike to each light unit by pushing into position. Push each unit into the ground making sure the cable
attached will reach the extension cable.
6) Fit the bulbs as detailed overleaf.
7) Remove the top cover from the connection box by undoing the fixing screw. (see overleaf) Carefully remove the top
rubber seal.

Installation:
8) Take the extension cable and push onto the lower rubber seal to enable the sharp contact pins to pierce the
sheathing. Note: it does not matter which pin pierces which cable.
9) Replace the top rubber seal making sure it is properly fitted, replace the top cover and tighten the fixing screw to
clamp all parts together. Repeat for remaining units. Avoid twisting the cable.
10) Connect the extension cable to the transformer by locating the pins into the socket, and fully tightening the threaded
collar, as shown below.
11) Plug the indoor plug into the mains socket and switch on.
12) If a unit fails to operate, unplug the system from the mains and check that contact pins have correctly pierced cable
sheathing. Repeat steps 8 - 11.

Fitting / Replacing the bulbs
Bulb type - 20W Mr16 12V Halogen bulb. Do not exceed this wattage as this may
cause the product to overheat.
Always switch off and allow product to cool before changing bulb.
1) Unscrew front bezel and remove.
2) Carefully remove bulb from lampholder.
3) Insert new bulb into lampholder.
4) Replace bezel making sure the seal is properly seated.

Distance Warning
This product must be positioned so that there is at least 0.5 metres (50cm) between the bulb
and any illuminated surface.
Care and Use
Do not use abrasive materials and cleaners on these products as this may damage the finish. Do not clean the units
with a pressure washer. To prolong the life and keep your outdoor lighting in good condition, it is recommended that
periodically it is cleaned using a soft cloth followed by the application of a light coating of oil, such as WD40.
This system contains non-replaceable parts which cannot be serviced. If damage occurs the part should be
scrapped.
Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities
exist. Check with your Local Authority or retailer for recycling advice.
