PRS Guitars Tremonti SE User manual

2008

Instruments are different than people. As soon as they’re born, you have a pretty good idea of
what they’re going to be for the rest of their lives. Even though a guitar does mature some, that first
moment you play it is a good indication of its innate personality and sound.
We strive to make the kind of guitar that speaks to you as soon as you pick it up, the kind of guitar
that, even though brand new and full of possibilities, somehow feels as comfortable as an old friend.
I believe that guitars that make this kind of intimate connection come only from talented designers
and craftspeople who love the long, painstaking process of creation as much as the resulting
instruments. At PRS, we love guitars. Most of us play every day. We listen, we compare, we analyze,
we debate.
And we evolve. One constant over the entire history of PRS is change, the desire to make our
already fine guitars a bit more responsive, a bit more toneful. This year, we’ve revised and improved
a lot of things. The birds are only the most obvious change. Other improvements may be subtle, and
some are unseen, but they matter. They add up.
I believe 2008 will be a landmark year for us and hope that after holding and playing and hearing
these instruments, you’ll feel the same.
If you’re looking for a professional quality, high-performance instrument, we strive to build that
guitar for you, one that makes you realize, from the moment you pick it up — this is a guitar to
cherish for a lifetime.

32
Retro in its appearance and its voice, the Mira is a refreshing addition to the PRS family. Introduced
at the 2007 Experience PRS event, it created quite a bit of excitement within the PRS workforce,
with PRS artists and amongst the customers who had the opportunity to get their hands on one. This
model has a new look, feel, tone and appeal.
New for 2008, the successor to the McCarty is the McCarty II. Featuring our new Mastering Voice
Control (MVC) circuitry that allows you to go from clear, early 60’s single coil tones to heavy metal
sounds with the flick of a switch, this may just be the only model you’ll need to take to a gig or
recording session.
Korina, known as a legendary tone wood, is now available in a McCarty model. The McCarty Korina is
a lightweight and highly musical guitar.
513 - 5 pickups, 13 sounds. This model features our patented pickup system providing thirteen
modern and vintage sounds utilizing five proprietary single coil pickups. An extremely versatile
instrument, this mahogany-necked 513 can go from screaming humbuckers to sparkling single coils
just by flipping the switch.

Our Standard models have evolved from the first guitars Paul ever made. Updated over the years and
still available today, the Standard has the heart of its all mahogany predecessors.
The Custom line echoes back to a guitar that Paul took to his first tradeshow in 1985. Updated and
improved for 2008, Customs are still our best sellers.

Our Singlecut models have been designed through the eyes of decades of accumulated experience.
Featuring a thicker body, specially designed pickups and a unique neck joint, these models deliver a
rich and vibrant tone. The SC 245 is a nod to vintage; the SC 250 is for our modern artists.
The success of our Hollowbody line led us to offer this year’s Singlecut Hollowbodys. These
models carry on the tradition of Hollowbody tones offering very acoustic qualities with a Singlecut
body shape. The Singlecut Hollowbody Standard is currently the only hollow model we offer with the
warmth of an all mahogany construction.

Signature Artist Models
1312
By collaborating with some of our talented artists and endorsers, we have created a robust
and growing line of Signature Artist models. Each of these models has the personal flavor,
specifications and the tone these artists are famous for. They are the instruments these
talented musicians use to make their living.

Santana MD
The Santana MD has all the latest Santana model updates - pickups, knob placement, inlays, tuners and a
Mastering Voice Control for early 60’s single coil sounds that don’t hum!
DGT (David Grissom Trem)
The David Grissom Trem is the culmination of twenty years of David’s and Paul’s tweaks to David’s recording
and touring guitars. It all adds up to a seriously modified McCarty with David’s pickups, nitro topcoat, big frets,
heavy strings, extra volume control and cool vintage colors.
Chris Henderson Model
The Chris Henderson Model is not simply a reproduction of what Chris plays in the studio and on tour - it is
the instrument he uses to make music with 3 Doors Down. This artist model features three powerful, special
humbucking pickups.
Mark Tremonti Model
A huge sounding instrument, the Mark Tremonti Model is updated for 2008 with a tremolo bridge, up-routing,
new inlays and all of the modifications Mark uses on tour and in the studio with Alter Bridge.
Dave Navarro Model
Dave Navarro has been playing PRS guitars for nearly two decades using them in the studio and on the road
with Janes Addiction, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and solo projects. The Navarro Model is an exact duplicate of
what Dave plays, a Jet White Custom 24 with mother of pearl bird inlays, gold hardware, wide-thin neck and HFS
and Vintage Bass pickups.
Johnny Hiland Model
From country/bluegrass to metal, Johnny Hiland can tear it up in any genre. His signature model with its 24-fret
bolt-on maple neck, maple fretboard, JH Treble and Bass pickups, 3-way blade switch and a push-pull that splits
the bass pickup is versatile enough to meet his, and your, every need.

From time to time a very special piece of wood comes into our factory. It
may be a rosewood neck blank that chimes like a bell or a piece of maple
that is so figured it’s almost three dimensional. These are the building
blocks of our Private Stock program. Each Private Stock instrument is made
to order and hand crafted from the world’s most beautiful tone woods by
our team of highly skilled senior craftsmen led by luthier Joe Knaggs. Each
of these instruments is personally checked and play-tested by Joe Knaggs
and Paul Reed Smith to ensure the highest quality. This program allows you
to order a custom designed, extraordinary instrument.
