Firmware Update:
1. Copy the new firmware files on to a blank SD card. For the transport there are 5
files: LOADER.CFG, PWTxxx.hex, PWTFPxxx.hex, PWTUIxxx.hex, and
PWTWExxx.hex. Where “xxx” is the particular revision number of that file.
2. Start with the rear panel power switch in the off position.
3. If there is an SD card currently in the unit it will need to be removed.
4. Insert the SD card with the new firmware into the unit. Be sure the SD card is not
write protected or “Locked” as shown below.
Note: The SD card plugs into the unit upside down.
5. Turn the rear panel power switch on.
6. The logo button on the left side of the front panel will flash for approximately 25
seconds while the code is being updated.
7. After the process is complete the unit will initialize to its operation mode.
8. Replace the original SD card with the cover art and title information for normal
operation.
9. To check that the process completed successfully, repeat the “Checking and
Setting System Information” section of this guide.

Manually Opening the Transport Drive Draw:
Sometimes it may be necessary to open the transports drive drawer manually to recover
a disk if the unit cannot be powered up or is not functioning properly. You will need a
thin piece of shim stock (0.010”) or a small paper clip will work to perform this operation.
1. Make sure the power switch on the rear panel is off and AC line is disconnected.
2. Insert the tool into the location shown in the photo below and give it a push. It
can take a knack to do this so it may take more than one try.
3. The drawer will slide out roughly to the position shown in the lower photo.
4. Gently pull the drawer out to recover the disk. Push the drawer in when done.

For the remaining tasks in this manual make sure the AC line is disconnected and
all static precautions and procedures are in place.
Removing the Expansion Port Card:
1. Make sure the power switch on the rear panel is off and AC line is disconnected.
2. With a #1 Philips screw driver, remove the 2 #4-40 screws (circles) that holds the
expansion port card to the rear panel.
3. If available, plug an RS232 cable to the RS232 port on the expansion port card
and screw the cable into place.
4. Use the cable connector to pull the expansion card out of the unit.
5. If an RS232 cable is not available, slide a small slotted screw driver under the left
or right side of the expansion port cover plate and gently pry back pulling the
card out of the slot. See lower photo.
6. Insert the new expansion card and screw into place with the 2 #4-40 screws.

Changing Ethernet Port Card Settings (13-054-07):
The Ethernet expansion cards DC / IR port can be set for 1 of 2 functions.
1. The “ON” / “READY” mode in the DC function setting. Move jumper JP1 to the
“DC” position for this mode. The unit will turn “ON” with +5 volts DC connected to
the “TIP” and the +5V return connected to “RING” of the 3.5mm connector”. The
unit will return to the “READY” mode when the voltage is removed.
2. The “IR” mode in the IR function setting. Move jumper JP1 to the “IR” position for
this mode. The unit will respond to remote control commands sent electrically
through this port.

Piano Top Cover Removal:
1. Place the clear plastic decal cover over the units top to prevent scratches.
2. On a flat, clean, and soft work space, with a #1 Philips screw driver, remove the
4 #4-40 flat head screws (circles) shown below left.
3. Referencing the back of the unit, tip the unit on its left side with the AC inlet
module nearest the work surface as shown below right.
4. With a small screw driver push the top off by pushing the screw driver through
the 4 holes on the bottom that the screws were just removed from. Try and push
equal amounts on each hole to slide the top out uniformly.
5. Once the top has been pushed out enough it will fall to the left as shown below.
6. Disconnect the ground wire from the distribution block with a pair of pliers.
Replacing the Fuses:
1. To change the fuses on the power supply board, lift fuse cover with the fuse.
2. Replace with a 5x20mm, 1amp slow blow, 250V fuse. Schurter part number
0034.3117 or equivalent.
