Your new Pyle Pro PYX-3X Electronic Crossover
Network is designed to enable the home stereo
audiophile to install a biamp, triamp or multi-amp
system with extreme ease, while still allowing for
the sophisticated settings a high end installation
demands.
The PYX-3X permits frequency filtering in four
different bands: LOW, MID/HIGH PASS, MID/LOWPASS
and HIGH. It also offers the user the opportunity to
adjust output levels for LOW, MID and HIGH
independently.
Input and output connections may be made via a
choice of 1/4” or RCA type jack, permitting a
connection with almost any input or output device.

Setting the frequency controls
Biamp Systems
In a biamp system, the frequency ranges are usually LOWS
(with a range of about 40Hz to 120Hz), and MIDS/HIGHS
(with a range from 120Hz to about 20KHz).
Settings for such a system would be something like this:
Output connections for a biamp system
A typical biamp system employs a 4 channel amplifier, with
one pair of channels used to handle MIDS/HIGHS, with the
second pair of channels handling the LOW frequencies. A
similar system can be built using separate amplifiers to
handle the two frequency ranges.
This kind of setup would be accomplished as follows:
Upper end, LOWS range: 120Hz
Lower end, MIDS/HIGHS range: 120Hz
Upper end, MIDS/HIGHS
range: Flat (range not affected)

Triamp Systems
In a triamp system, the frequency ranges are usually LOWS
(with a range of about 40Hz to 120Hz), MIDS (with a range
from 120Hz to about 5-8KHz) and HIGHS (with a range from
5Hz to about 20KHz).
The PYX-3X uses the two MIDS frequency controls together
to form a bandpass section for the MIDS range, with one
control setting the lower and one setting the upper crossover
points.
Settings for such a system would be something like this:
Upper end, LOWS range: 120Hz
Lower end, MIDS/HIGHS range: 120Hz

A typical triamp home system might consist of a 4-Channel

the LOW, MID and HIGH ranges).

Caring for your PYX-3X Electronic Crossover Network
This component uses a 250V 0.5A fuse for protection from
power surges and short circuits. If the unit suddenly shuts
down and will not turn on, it is likely that this fuse has
blown.
To replace the fuse:
1. Locate the fuse holder on the rear of the cabinet and
unscrew the fuse compartment cap.
2. Remove the old fuse and replace it with an identical,
serviceable fuse.
CAUTION! Never use a fuse with a higher rating!
3. Replace the fuse compartment cap.
Turning the PYX-3X on
1. Turn on the audio input source equipment which is
connected to the PYX-3X INPUT jacks.
2. Set the LOW, MID and HIGH volume level controls to their
minimum level settings.
3. Adjust the crossover frequency points to suit your audio
system installation.
4. Push in the power switch to turn the amplifier on.
5. Adjust the LOW, MID and HIGH volume level controls to
the desired volumes.
Connecting to standard AC power
After making all other connections, set the POWER switch
to OFF position. Then connect the power cord to a standard
AC outlet.
Mounting the PYX-3X
The PYX-3X is designed to accept standard rack mounting
installations. Two slots on each end of the front panel make
it suitable for such an installation.
Tightly secure four mounting screws (not supplied) through
these fours slots and into your standard electronics equipment
rack.
