ASKING FOR HELP (NON LIFE THREATENING)
This is for help in a non life-threatening situation. Your SPOT team will be notified by a text
and/or email message that contains a preprogrammed distress message along with a link to
Google Maps™ with your location.
To ASK FOR HELP
•
Press and hold the HELP button for 2 seconds
•
Indicator light will blink green every 3 seconds
•
Each time message is sent light will be solid green for 5 seconds
•
Messages are sent every 5 minutes for one hour
To Cancel
•
Press and hold HELP for 3 seconds
•
Indicator light will blink red to show message cancellation
•
When the message has been sent the light will turn solid red for 5 seconds
CHECK IN: SPOT CHECKING WITH GOOGLE MAPS™
This will alert your spot team that you are OK. Your SPOT team will be notified by a text
and/or email message that contains a link to Google Maps™ with your location.
TO CHECK IN:

Press and hold OK button
•
Indicator light will blink green every 3 seconds
•
Each time message is sent light will be solid green for 5 seconds

SPOTcasting: AUTOMATIC 10-MINUTE TRACKING UPDATES
This feature will send your location to your SPOT account. Your SPOT TEAM can then track
your progress in real time or you can view your route at a later date.

TO TRACK PROGRESS
•
Press and hold the OK button for more than 5 seconds
•
Indicator light will blink green every 3 seconds
•
Each time SPOTcasting is sent light will be solid green for 5 seconds
•
Exact location is updated every 10 minutes
•
MUST reactivate tracking feature after 24 hours to continue tracking progress
TO CANCEL TRACKING
•
Press and Hold OK button for 5 seconds to terminate tracking
•
Turn Spot off by pressing ON/OFF button for 3 seconds (This will turn SPOT OFF)
If Indicator light begins to blink out of unison the messenger cannot determine your GPS
coordinates. You must hold SPOT and provide a clearer view of the sky. When coordinates
have been acquired the lights will begin to blink in unison.
