Placement & Set Up
Consider the following when choosing where to set up and
place your RAVE EZ Set Ice Rink:
•Site suitability: Place your unit on the most level area
possible free from any sharp objects or rocks. Slope should
be less than 2 inches over 10 feet. Place your unit a
minimum of 6 feet away from any trees, rocks, or other
structures.
•Position: As much as possible, orient the rink so the
shortest dimension is running down the slope of the ground

5
and the longest dimension is running across
(perpendicular) to the slope.
•Convenience: Place your unit where it can be easily
supervised.
•Water source: Place your unit where you can easily fill and
resurface your EZ Set Ice Rink with tap or well water.
NOTE: When using a hose in cold weather do not leave it
outside after use. Water left inside the hose will freeze and
cause damage.
Side wall setup
1. When you have found a suitable area for the ice rink, layout
the ice rink liner across the desired area. Make sure all the
Pivoting Side Support Brackets and Corner Screw are
accounted for.
2. Stake your first corner into the ground with a Corner Screw
Stake, by inserting the Screw Stake into the sleeve pocket
on the corner of the liner. Stake your second corner,

6
diagonally across from the first corner. Before inserting
stake into the ground, pull the ice rink liner taught. Proceed
to stake the remaining corners, remembering to pull the
liner taught each time before screwing the stake into the
ground.
3. Clip in the pivoting side support brackets in the already
punched holes around the perimeter of the liner.
NOTE: Bracket must be on the outside of liner wall as
shown below.

7
4. Be sure that your EZ Set Ice Rink liner is tight to each corner
to ensure proper freezing of the ice.
FIRST ICE
The optimum temperature for freezing your rink is 32 degrees
F/ 0 degrees C. Begin filling with water, but do not fill it
entirely at once. Add water in increments, as smooth ice is
created by freezing many thin layers (less than ¼ inch at a
time). Attempting to create thick ice at once will result in
trapped air bubbles and a bumpy surface.

8
Your ice rink will start to ice up fairly quickly, but it may be
several days before it is thick enough to use depending upon
weather conditions and the number of layers needed to get
ice to a sufficient thickness across the entire span of the rink
area. Be patient with your ice, trying to ice your rink too
quickly will result in an uneven ice surface.
TESTING ICE FOR USE
Normally, the ice will need to be at least 3 to 4 inches thick to
prevent cracking. Wearing normal shoes carefully put your
weight onto the ice and walk around. If you do not hear
cracking, it is ready to use. 3 to 4 inches of ice will give you a
solid base to handle uncertain winter thaws.
NOTE: Do not allow anything but water to rest on the surface
of the ice. Items left on the ice will sink down into the ice and
create a dangerous and immovable obstacle. Remove any
leaves or other debris prior to use or resurfacing.
When you have achieved skate-ready ice, remove the 4 Corner
Screw Stakes, and unclip and fold down all 12 Pivoting Side
Support Brackets.
These brackets can be
left in place and then
tipped back up to
support the liner when
you want resurface
your rink.

9
NOTE: Removal of the Corner Screw Stakes will not decrease
stability of the ice surface.
RESURFACING
Adding more water to the surface of your RAVE EZ Set Ice Rink
and allowing it to freeze will refresh the ice surface smoothly.
It is recommended that you avoid resurfacing your ice until
late in the afternoon or at night after you are done skating for
the day. When resurfacing you should evenly spread a shallow
layer of water across the entire rink area to maintain a level,
smooth skating surface. Consistently resurfacing your ice will
give you a harder top layer of ice that will be less prone to
cracking.
To remove minor cracks in the ice: Scrape enough ice shavings
with your skate or grab snow if available and pack it in the
crack tightly and wet it down. Use a puck, smooth over the ice
surface until smooth and level with the rest of the ice surface.
REMOVING YOUR ICE RINK
Allow ice to thaw completely with spring thaws. Tip down the
side of the liner in the lowest point of the ground slope and let
the water run off the liner.
1. Completely dry all parts of the unit.
2. Clean and store following instruction on page 11.

10
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Clean your RAVE EZ Set Ice Rink with mild soap and fresh
water; never use strong detergents or petroleum-based
products. Also never use high pressure cleaning equipment
such as a “pressure washer”. This will quickly result in damage
to your product.
Completely dry unit. Wipe the product off with a terry
cloth towel and allow product to dry completely. Ensure
that the rink is clean and dry, then store in a safe place until
next use.
Maintenance is essential to increase the life of your product.
Please follow all maintenance, cleaning and repairs according
to this manual. If you are unsure please contact your local
dealer or RAVE Sports directly.
During Use
RAVE Sports recommends that you occasionally scrape the
surface of the ice with a plastic snow shovel (metal shovels do
not work as well) to remove snow, ice chips, and other items as
needed. Resurface immediately after scraping. Keeping your
surface clean and smooth will minimize accidents and increase
the enjoyment of the product.
Self adhesive patches are included with the EZ Set Ice Rink and
can be used to patch small cuts or holes in the product. Clean
area thoroughly in the area to be patched. Dry completely before
applying patch.
