The California Safe Drinking
Waferand ToxicEnforcement Act
requires the Governor of California
to publish alistof substances
knownto the stateto cause cancer,
birth defectsor other reproductive
harm and requires businessesto
warn customers ofpotential
exposure to such substances.
Gas appliances can cause minor
exposureto fourof these substances,
namely benzene, carbon monoxide,
formaldehydeand soot, caused
primarily bythe incomplete
combustion of natural gas or LP
fuels. Properly adjusted dryerswill
minimize incompletecombustion.
Exposure to these substancescan
be minimized further byproperly
