1.0 INTRODUCTION
New to the Redback mixer stable, this model incorporates six inputs which can be routed to 1 of 2 outputs or both as the
installation requires.
Inputs can be congured for either RCA line level signals (mono mixed internally) or 3 pin XLR balanced mic signals. Phantom
power (12V DC) is available for all XLR inputs.
Outputs are via RCA and 3 pin XLR balanced 1V signals.
Front panel controls including volume, treble and bass are included for each input. Independent master volume controls are
provided for each output. Pushbutton switches are provided to enable inputs to be switched to either output 1, output 2 or
both outputs 1 and 2.
DIP switches allow for each inputs sensitivity to be set to 100mV or 1V, phantom power to be set on/off, and choice of RCA
or XLR connection for that chosen input.

3.0 FRONT PANEL GUIDE
Fig 1 shows the layout of the A 4424 front panel.

1 Channel Output Selector
Use these switches to enable inputs to be switched to either output 1, output 2 or both.
2 Output Volume controls
Use this control to adjust the volumes of output 1 and output 2.
3 On Indicator
This led indicates when the unit has power.
4 Power Switch
Use this switch to turn the unit on.
5 Active LED’s
These LED’s indicate when an audio signal is present at the outputs.
6 Music Input
Connect a portable device such as a mobile phone/tablet to this Music Input. This will override input 6 when
being used.
7 Volume controls
Use these controls to adjust the volumes and bass and treble of the inputs.

4.0 REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS
Fig 2 shows the layout of the A 4424 rear panel.

1 Microphone Inputs 1 - 6
There are six microphone inputs which all incorporate a 3 pin balanced XLR. Phantom power (12V DC) is
available at each Mic input.
2 RCA Inputs 1 - 6
The line inputs are dual RCA connectors which are internally mixed to produce a mono input signal. The input
sensitivity of these inputs can be adjusted to 100mV or 1V via the DIP switches DIP1 - DIP6 (refer to DIP switch
settings).
3 Dip Switches DIP1 - DIP6
These switches enable various options for the inputs including input sensitivity, mic or line operation or phantom
power activation on the XLR mic inputs. Refer to DIP switch settings.
4 Outputs
XLR balanced outputs (600Ω) and line level RCA connectors are provided for outputs 1 and 2. Connect these to
the zone ampliers or mixers.
5 24V DC Input (Backup)
Connects to a 24V DC backup supply with at least 1 amp current capacity. (Please observe the polarity)
6 24V DC input
Connects to a 24V DC Plugpack with 2.1mm Jack (supplied).
5.0 DIP SWITCH SETTINGS
The A 4424 has 6 sets of DIP switches. These switches set the inputs as either Mic or Line, sets the Line Input level sensitiv-
ities, and enables phantom power to the XLR mic inputs.
(Note: DIP switches are on in the UP position)
DIP 1
Switch 1 - Input 1 Select: OFF - Mic, ON - Line
Switch 2 - Sets Line 1 input sensitivity to either ON - 1V or OFF - 100mV.
Switch 3 - Not Used.
Switch 4 - ON - Enables Phantom power to the Mic1 input.
DIP 2
Switch 1 - Input 2 Select: OFF - Mic, ON - Line
Switch 2 - Sets Line 2 input sensitivity to either ON - 1V or OFF - 100mV.
Switch 3 - Not Used.
Switch 4 - ON - Enables Phantom power to the Mic2 input.
DIP 3
Switch 1 - Input 3 Select: OFF - Mic, ON - Line
Switch 2 - Sets Line 3 input sensitivity to either ON - 1V or OFF - 100mV.
Switch 3 - Not Used.
Switch 4 - ON - Enables Phantom power to the Mic3 input.
